The day itself was my favorite kind of day, a gentle rainy one that most would consider unpleasant or dreary. Not me. I purposely don't take summer vacations or vacations to hot places. My goal for the first part of my day was to visit the Malmö Museum (Museer in Swedish) and Castle (Malmöhus Slott), but I also made time to really explore the Kungsparken, or King's Park, as well. This was really an unavoidable thing anyway as I had planned to continue to follow the canal into town to meet my friend after work for dinner, shopping, and goofing off. I'm big on the free outdoors when I travel, you can tell. I enjoyed the little clusters of flowers most, but also the canopy of different tree species and the series of trails, bridges and passageways along the canal, which borders one end of the King's Park. Weeping Willows create shade and privacy. I found the park very romantic! The many benches along the trail would have been perfect for a rest, but alas in the rain that was not an option. It's an 8 plus acre park, and a complete circle would be great exercise. The route I took through altogether was 2 miles of walking. If you're headed to the castle fortress and museum anyway, you can't miss it. Note: The Yelp listing also says "Zoo," but if there is one in here I didn't find it...

Pretty ok and just pretty…read more We spent a day in Malmo during a longer visit to Copenhagen. And the day before heading over to Sweden, we checked out to see what there was to do while in town. Google showed us Folkets Park, which was described as an amusement park. Now, we were there on a Monday and my understanding is that Mondays tend to be less busy and interesting. But I wasn't particularly amused while I was here. None of the little restaurants or stalls were open, neither was the mini golf. So there was just some people walking through as a short cut through the block. There were a couple spots that were colorful and lovely enough for a photo opportunity, but overall it was kind of disappointing. So...I got a really cute photo out of it, but other than that our visit was a bit of a let down. If there is a special event or concert going on, I am sure it is much more interesting.

There is, however, a group of drug dealers that likes to hang out around the park, as they do in many places around town.

Sure, the angry geese are still there - you better watch out for them - but this nice park is one of the best parks there in Malmö and when I say parks, I meant many since Malmö truly have a lot of nice parks for such a compact city (compared to Copenhagen). If you need "time out" after spending the day shopping and helping the Swedish economy, maybe you could have your fika as takeaway and head here on a nice summer / autumn day

I have only frequented this park in late summer so I couldn't see how nice it is in the high summer, but I could imagine lots and lots of people would come and just lie in the sun here. It's a very calm and serene park and lovely just to sit around, have a picnic or just beers, or even sit in the cafe that is very near to the pond. You can do your daily jog / run here as well. I love this park!

The day we went it was packed with people and long lines for several food spots. We were loving the Swedish meatballs we had gotten to try while visiting Sweden and so had to order these again. It was so much fun to watch our meal be made while sitting at the counter of the food spot we chose. They have a bakery and dessert placed to check out too. Definitely a fun spot to check out!
