The decor is nice, the way I like it, a bit like a loft with a long table and high chairs for groups or for those who don't mind seating next to strangers and also normal tables around it for couples or small parties. The food was great, we got the Rumford Burger which, like all their burgers, is cooked using the slow cooking method which means longer cooking times at lower temperatures to retain as much as possible the nutrients and keep the flavour and texture of the food - the Rumford burger is actually a tribute to the guy who invented this way of cooking. We didn't actually notice a life-changing flavor experience but the burger was really good, tender, juicy and not over cooked (the way I like it), perfect size and the rest of the ingredients were a great match (tomato, lard, red onion jam, curry sauce) - oh, and the yummy potatoes are included. We got desserts, a tiramisu and a kiwi cheesecake, both served in small glasses and both good but not amazing. Prices per person around 20 euros, nice deal if you ask me! Will definitely be back to try the other options in the menu (like the fish & chips and the salmon burger).

Finish & chips is a pleasant surprise. Very different front English ones. To be honest, a better…read moreversion I think.

Got a chance to meet the man behind this amazing fried chicken, he is so sweet and welcoming. Made us felt at home and made our visit so enjoyable. The flavorful chicken recipe is consistent, juicy, & crispety crunchy every time. Their potato salad is better than most I've had even at the best BBQs (no onions!) or they offer the more popular, sweet potato fries or the lesser known baked beans. They also have what sounds like some delish desserts but we were too stuffed to try. I reiterate, I consider this tiny, unassuming, (clean) hole-in-the-wall a fast food joint...so you order at the counter, grab your tray, & see yourself to your table of choice either downstairs or up. They also have a short counter with stools at the window that seats 3-4 in case you want first row seating to hurried passersby or the occasional dog walker cleaning up. Oh, & there's air conditioning! Like real, good ol' 'Merican air conditionin's!!! Be aware of their non-American hours though, as they close for siesta in the early afternoon to reopen later for dinner service. What's more, their customer service is on par with their food! There's a small, young crew of locals (didn't meet actual Corey, who is apparently a real person from The South) that run & maintain the place. I mentioned it's fast food but only in menu not in prices. There will be no 5€ combo with fries & a drink. I understand it's an elevated version & I certainly appreciate it, but I'm skeptical of the locals making this concept a raging success as they're so used to cheap eats, especially at lunch time. On a last note, my friend & fellow USA expat would beat me with a chicken leg if I didn't mention their playlist. A variety of either old school hip hop or R&B...like, the real sh!t. I will definitely be returning to get my fingers & lips all greased up!

I was able to order my food via the ordering kiosks, as they had an option for multiple languages including Italian and English, so it was relatively straightforward to find and select what I wanted to order. This location has table service, so after ordering, I was able to relax, find a seat and wait for my food to be presented. After a couple of minutes, a staff member came over and asked me to confirm that I selected "No bread", I like how they checked with me, rather than presuming it was a mistake. When my food was presented, I was pleasantly surprised, they wrapped my Double Cheeseburger in fresh lettuce, making it easier to eat, this lettuce had a beautiful, vibrant green colour, it tasted and looked fresh, and is nothing like what I'd get back home in the UK. My burger was hot and pretty good by McDonald's standards. At their best McDonald's fries are the best fries you can get - this location got them at their best, they were piping hot and seasoned fairly well, they were fresh right out of the frier, and didn't get the dry sogginess you get after they've been reheated. They were fresh. My guest also complimented the food and mentioned the temperature of the food and freshness being nothing like she has experienced before at a McDonald's, and I would agree. I was surprised that the large drinks were both served without lids or straws, perhaps this is to do with their environmental credentials, as this did seem common at McDonald's in Italy, as did charging for sauces that are usually free in the UK. 4* - I was impressed with my lunch overall, Italy might just have the best food in the world but if disaster strikes and you end up at a McDonald's, you could do a lot worse than this one.

We found Happy Chicken (new name, I guess), the quintessential unknown fast foodery, complete with an apathetic cashier, questionable food quality, & prepared foods sadly laying under a heat lamp. Had my heart [attack] set on spicy fried wings but they were 86'd. Of course they were! My expectations were really low which could explain why I found the fried chicken & cheeseburger warm & edible regardless of how they looked. The fries were fresh too. Beware though, you'll need to pay for even 1 packet of ketchup. Drumsticks on the menu are called thighs. They should just probably consider having their menu/advertisements reviewed by a native English speaker so that promotions that offer taco's are done correctly. And the link to their website on their Facebook page took me to a suspicious site twice. The restaurant inside does look newer or recentlyish renovated which gives an illusion of cleanliness but I found that trays & tables were sticky. Like wiped down with a dirty rag kind of sticky. Also, I should probably mention the condition of the men's bathroom. Pretty sure that wasn't chocolate smeared on the wall or so I heard. Also on the upside, they have continuous hours & open late. Yay for full sized tea or soda with combos. They serve traditional Italian breakfast items & coffee. & I gave them that extra star because we didn't die.
