Check-in was at 3 PM, but we stopped by around 2 PM to see if our room happened to be ready early. We were told it wasn't, which was completely understandable. The front desk took my phone number and assured me they would text when the room was ready. That text never came.
We returned a couple of hours later to check in, only to be told that my credit card had been declined. I explained that I hadn't paid yet because my reservation was set up to be paid at the property. The front desk employee continued insisting my card had been declined. After finally contacting her supervisor, she discovered that the reservation had been flagged incorrectly. Something that should have been a simple check-in turned into an unnecessary hassle.
But the worst part was yet to come.
The moment we opened the door to our room, we were hit with an overwhelming, nauseating floral smell. It was so strong that we immediately developed terrible headaches, our eyes started burning, and we felt like we were choking on the fumes. We opened both doors to try to air out the room, but it barely made a difference. Even after leaving, we could still taste the smell.
We went to the front desk to explain the situation, and their solution was to offer us a refund so we could find another hotel. The problem? Hotels in the surrounding area were fully booked. Instead of offering a reasonable solution, they essentially left us to figure it out ourselves.
I was the one who had to suggest putting an ozone generator in the room.They agreed, and we left for approximately two hours while they treated it. When we returned, the smell had improved, but it was still very noticeable. It honestly made me wonder what they were trying so hard to cover up with such an overpowering fragrance.
As if that weren't enough, after our first night, we discovered just how filthy the floors were. The bottoms of our feet were BLACK from simply walking around the room. Absolutely disgusting and completely unacceptable for any hotel, especially one charging guests to stay there.
To make matters worse, we weren't the only ones having problems. We overheard multiple other guests complaining about similar issues.
At checkout, there was no apology, no acknowledgment of what we had experienced, and no attempt to make things right. They simply checked us out as though nothing had happened.
The lack of cleanliness, poor customer service, and complete disregard for guest comfort were unbelievable. A beautiful location means absolutely nothing when the accommodations are this filthy and management seems completely unconcerned.
Save yourself the headache and stay somewhere else. This was one of the worst hotel experiences I've ever had. Absolutely terrible, disgusting, and unacceptable.
