If you want to be a South Myrtle, this location is great. Here's what you need to know though. We purchased our week here from a private owner who rents out this unit. So, we got a great deal on an oceanfront condo in Building B. The condo was nice and has been updated. It could sleep 5, but it was just the 2 of us. 5 would have been tight, but doable. The views of the ocean were great and we are spending a lot of time on the balcony. The amenities are decent. There is a large outdoor pool, and smaller pool area that also has a kids play area and a lazy river. There is also a decent sized indoor pool. The last pool is by the high rise building which is undergoing some renovations and is therefor currently closed. We eat most meals out and leave the resort to do so. Not many options here. This resort lies between two of the largest campgrounds in the MB area. The area by the ocean is gated but unlocked and unmonitored so folks from anywhere on the beach can come and go...and they do. There is zero keeping anyone from using the pools, the restaurants, etc. What we did not know is that the only operating restaurant on property is an open air bar just 100 yards away from our condo. When we arrived on Saturday night they had karaoke. Annoying, but ok, it's Saturday. Then they did it again on Sunday. Ok, so maybe it's a weekend thing. Here we are on Monday and it's going again. It's hard to enjoy an evening on the balcony when every night from 6-11 is filled with off-pitch singing. And as the night goes on, the drunker and louder the crowd gets. Again, our condo is good and the views are great. We love being steps from the beach. But this is a party resort for theand very little ability to enjoy quiet time. Not our style at all. read more

First off my reservation was screwed up for bike week. Manager fixed that. Then we had to pay $20 per bike to park. We had an oceanfront room but they wanted to tell us we had to park way at back of parking which was designated for bikes. Which made us walk across property to get to our room. We parked closer to room in one space with our 2 bikes. Got a warning saying we had to move bikes back to back of property or have them towed. We have been coming here for years , I have recommended this place to many ppl over the years but not anymore. This was our last time ever staying here. FYI.... People who signed in before us had to pay over $100 for truck, trailer and bikes to park. This whole experience was a hardship for paying customers. I hope none of them come back. read more

I rented via Airbnb and stayed in the B building on three different times, each time was on the off season. Generally speaking, I've found most places in MB have a distinct feel: either 1980's era resorts or brand new construction. This place definitely has the 1980's feel. Not in a bad way, but a very dated style. Cleanliness was about average, but the dated appearance definitely made the lack of people more noticeable. The common areas are in need of deep cleaning and some paint work, but nothing glaringly wrong. It's tough to compete with new style places and construction. I'm not entirely sure what could or should be done, but unfortunately the mega-resort genre can just be a lot to maintain as the years roll on. Several places throughout MB have a dated appearance, and that deferred maintenance / upgrades begins to show a bit more each year. All in all, a not bad experience. I think that money spent updating will be well spent. read more

My family has been coming here for years and about three years ago I joined them in coming back here with them each year. I never had anything to complain about. We just came back 7/31 from our summer trip and we all had a nice stay. My brothers room wasn't up to date furniture wise, some of the chairs were broken. It is a very kid friendly place! The pools are super nice as well. The QuarterDeck bar has some great food too, depending on the bartender the drinks are okay. My only complaint really is that my boyfriend couldn't come down when the rest of us came and they only allow two parking passes per room and they wouldn't allow for me to get another parking pass since I already had one and my mother had one. I offered to pay for the pass and they refused. So I ended up parking my car across the road at a gas station so my boyfriend could keep his truck parked at the resort since it was his work truck with equipment. I eventually ended up getting towed from the gas station which I knew would happen but there wasn't any other options to park. And the gas station did not have no over night parking signs. Every other place we looked before parking my car there did. On the way out the gate this next day the man working security told my boyfriend that they write people parking passes all the time. read more

Air vents were FILTHY and very rusty. outdoor furniture was falling apart and rusty. TV in bedroom did not work at all. Parking was a real issue especially on the weekends. Security did not enforce the parking with passes only. We had to park VERY far from unit and unload groceries and walk to unit. We found out that no one checks parking passes and guests give out their codes to friends to enter complex. Did not feel very safe here knowing just anyone has access to property. We called maintenance to report slider was stuck shut and NEVER got a response. Elevator was slow and run down. Had a terrible smell to it. Would not stay here again. read more

First issue we had is they allowed someone under 23 to reserve and pay for the entire stay without letting us know we had to have someone registered over the age of 23.. which caused us to miss a day and had to invite someone last second. When we arrived they told us we had to clean the entire place before leaving or would be charged even more. Had to pay to do laundry (including hotel towels). The dishes were all dirty when we arrived. The shower in the very small master bathroom was not working and looks dirty. There is water damage and leaks from each AC vent. Filthy rooms, walls were dirty, floors, baseboards, we're all disgusting, the best way to describe the condo we stayed in was super 8 at best, the throw pillows on our beds were dirty, I was afraid to even put anything on the floor because the carpet in the bedrooms were filthy, we had a group of 11 parents and their kids staying and there wasn't one person who had a clean room. Parking is impossible, elevators were broke, but biggest thing was the rooms and how disgusting they were, But on a Positive note the bar is fun and the pools are nice. Other than that reconsider spending the money for condos that most of them haven't been updated or throughly cleaned since what looks like the 80's read more

The gate security was extremely rude. Would not help. I had a very small 4x6 trailer with all my luggage. They refused to let me in after driving 13hrs and wouldn't let me even drop the luggage off because I had a trailer. I asked to see if there were waivers or who to talk to and they said I have to ask barb. When I asked for barbs info they refused and told me to leave after already paying for a weeks stay. We spent the night here(other family members spent the week). It was a nice condo with an amazing view. It's a bit odd because there are people that live there full time and others that are rentals. As a matter of fact you check in at a completely separate location. When you arrive you go through the gate, you feel secure and it's nice to be greeted. Our condo was two bedrooms with a sleeper sofa in the living room. It was nicely decorated and stocked kitchens which was great for making our own meals. While it was stocked there were some things we had to pick up, dish soap, paper towels and an extra pot to cook. On the property is a pool and sauna. They were nice a bit small but who really cares when you have the ocean right there! Upon arrival we were greeted with the rudest lady in the front office insulting us. Far parking and far walks to everywhere. At night you are greeted by tons of frogs outside. In the pods are beautiful turtles and swans. There are many pools and hot tubs. Long walks to every pool and the beach. The quarterdeck is very packed usually and cats run everywhere which isn't a bad thing.Karaoke and dance parties. The rooms aren't the best pull out cough wasn't comfy and rusted. I book an oven view 2bedroom condo. Our rom was 334, it was just perfect for us. Each room had a flat screen t.v. The kitchen was very modern, with every kitchen tool imaginable. I was very impressed with the kitchen. The beds were comfortable and cute. For the kids there's a park. There's also a kiddie pool areas which my kids adored. Also about 5 or 6 other pools available. You must bring your patience for the elevator, level long waits. The walk is the beach is short. Overall I would definitely stay here again. However beware the ocean view is what I consider standard. In order to see the ocean you have to walk all the way to the end of your balcony. Sitting normal on the balcony you won't really see the ocean. read more

We are currently staying at Myrtle Beach Resort from Aug 12, 2017 to Aug 19, 2017. The hotel is on the beach and amenities are very basic. The elevators are PAINFULLY SLOW! The pool and hot tub are chlorinated to the point that your eyes start burning within minutes of getting into the water. Overall I would have given them 2 or 3 stars UNTIL we woke up this morning (Aug 16th) to find that the beach is under construction with heavy equipment and completely inaccessible. I asked a staff member what was going on and she said that the beach is being built up because of the erosion that occurred due to Hurricane Matthew. She also pointed out that the "renovation" was expected to take several days and that Management had know about the renovation for several months. It is unacceptable that management did NOT notify my family and I about the renovation work that was going to take place about a month ago about this when we paid $1500.00 for our beachfront vacation. The building sweats or retains water somehow because everything was damp all the time. The clothes we put in the closets were moist the next morning - the pillows that were already in the closet were mildewed and damp and the beds were damp feeling too and had dirty spots on them. (Picture attached) The carpet felt gross and I didn't want to walk barefoot at all. My SIL found a huge roach IN THE DISHWASHER! The room is much smaller than the pictures lead on as well. It was very cramped with 5 adults and three kids even though it said it could sleep 8 adults. The beach was great and the pools were nice. The bar/restaurant has karaoke nightly and the kids loved to go dance to it. The "galley" has good pizza and ice cream and the staff was very friendly. Clear signage.... NO FIREARMS.) We were placed in the Renaissance Tower, 22 floors. 4 elevators, only 1 working. Room was decent, quite spacious. But when we got ready for bed, pulled back the sheets the bedding side had atrocious stains. Looked like coffee stains. So com'on I find it unforgiving that housekeeping KEPT the sheets on. It was very late and we weren't going to call Security, wait etc., since we had an early start. Also, April would be their off-season and I think it's bad management to have front office hours from 10am-5pm. We were gone way before they opened and back long after they closed. The reason I am writing this poor review is due to the fact I sent Joy MacBay who is a manager there at MBR an email with PICTURES explaining I was NOT looking to go back but I felt they needed to speak to housekeeping. If I could give minus stars I would. Made a reservation on hotel.com for 2 nights. Got to the resort at 7:20 pm to find it was closed at checkin. Security guard told us to go to river oaks dr, to get our check in package from a lock box. When we asked how to get in the lock box, we were told they did not know. We drove the extra 15 minutes one way to find no one there and no code to get in the lock box. I called every number listed and always received the same message and not a live person. Tried the hotel.com chat but not a live person to chat with. Returned to resort and asked for help with security guard and she could not help. Had to find other arrangements. At 8:24 I received a call from the security guard who gave me a number to call. I did and after talking to a person then I was transferred to Tamara who said she could give the code to return to the river oak address to receive my packet. I was already in the other hotel, so I told her I wanted a refund. She explained she was not able to help and gave me another number to call. I waited till 9am the next day. I called the resort directly. The person I spoke with, did not get her name, explained she would not give a refund because we refused the packet when talking to Tamara. I explained we already had another room. She was unwilling to give me a refund and unwilling to give another night to make up for the first night. I became angry told her I would sue in small claims and burn their company Beach reservation a new A** and she informed me I was being recorded. I told her I did not cuss her I called the company a a**hole and did not care if I was recorded. Called hotel.com and actually got a person who listened but she had to call the resort who said they would not refund the first night because we were a no show. She was able to get half refunded. This is not an issue of money but customer service. I would never recommend the resort. They told me I should look at my email from them saying how to get the code. We are an older retired couple on a fixed income and we were excited to rent a studio condo there Sept. 2021-Mar. 2022. We tolerated broken down furniture like broken drawers that were unusable and a couch that was worn out and saggy and a toilet that was constantly breaking down. We reported all these things and were assured our deposit of $725 would be returned. When we received our check it was only $125. They said the mattress had to be replaced because it smelled like urine. This is an out and out lie. We would never have slept on a mattress that smelled like urine and we certainly did not urinate on it. My wife is an immaculate cleaner. We left this place in better condition than when we left it. THIS IS AN OUT AND OUT LIE AND I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS DUMP TO ANYBODY ESPECIALLY SINCE THEY DON'T MIND STEALING MONEY FROM AN ELDERLY COUPLE. read more

The one good thing about the rooms in the tower is the view on the ocean front side. The rooms, other than the view, are not as pictured and are rather worn down. The water park is not accessible for the guests at the resort and the pool is usually over capacity. The lazy river was extremely lazy and also over capacity. My family stayed here this past week. We had a great time because we were at the beach! This complex has very easy beach access. The buildings look nice outside and the grounds are kept well. Once inside, you can tell it is an old location. My family was bothered the entire trip by the presence of mold (unseen, but with unmistakable effects: smell, sinus infections, runny noses, scratchy throats). We were given a new air purifier and a discount. Being at an ocean front location, I would've hoped the property owners would have planned for the ever present moist air and it's effects on buildings. The inside hallways of the building are so hot and stuffy- ventilation fans would have made it much more comfortable. Our master bathroom floor was broken down and squishy. A maintenance worker came to check on it. We were assured our room would be unoccupied after we checkout for it to be repaired. If ours has major age issues, what do other units look like? We were disappointed by the lack of amenities during our visit. I understand there are limits during this Covid season, but the resort has every pool closed save one. The kiddie pool and lazy river remained open with restricted hours and daily cleaning. Social distancing was impossible to maintain with all other pools closed. Both bodies of water heated up to a non-refreshing bathtub temp. The deeper, cooler pools were closed. The snack shack was also closed. read more

I'm giving 2 stars because the lazy river was awesome and it was nice to be close to the beach. Other than that our unit and the building was filthy. We saw roaches. In the building and in our unit. Enough said. It was very loud at night. Outside our unit and the unit above and on either side of us. There were signs saying quiet time 11pm-8am. That's pretty late at night to be a family resort. You put your household trash in big outside trash containers by the elevators which is probably one of the reasons the buildings are filthy. The jacuzzi always had dirt and filth in it. They tell you to call management if any issues in our unit, which we did have issues and called. The gentleman that answered was not customer service friendly at all and even after 2 phone calls our concerns were not addressed. Thankfully the weather was perfect so we could spend time outside the building. read more

I checked in at 4:15pm as directed 6/26/2020 and was told by front desk to let them know if there were any marks on the wall or any issues. I was amazed first off at how many marks on the wall there were when I walked in, dents in the door, blinds crooked, finishes off the furniture and pieces of formica off the cabinetry in the kitchen for the price I was paying $303.00 a night!! There were a long black hairs on one of the beds (we realize that one of the housekeepers could have dropped that when they were making the bed) but on the other bed there were a pieces of Doritos. I took pictures (see attached)(My pictures are time/date stamped so you can see these were taken the moment we stepped into the room, once you download them, just right click to get info and it will give you date and time). but there were too many to photograph, so I just called the front desk and told them some of what was wrong, spoke to *****, she said, "I will make a note on the account and you won't be charged", I said, "I couldn't believe the state of the room". She said, "I will make a note". We had prior obligations that kept us from the Resort until late that evening, when arriving I tried to turn the TV on, NO TV. It stated "weather", but also, "NO SIGNAL". I called the after hours number and the voicemail stated, "If it was an emergency, someone would call back within 5-10 minutes". I suppose they deemed my $303.00 a night room not having TV a 'non-emergency'. I was appalled. The next morning I called the front desk and was told they would send a maintenance man. After waiting hours, we started tracing wires ourselves and found a wire unplugged, we fixed it. Amazing service for $303.00 a night. We checked out the next morning, Sunday 6/28/2020, we then went to Ocean Lakes and found a much cheaper and much nicer, cleaner place. I emailed Myrtle Beach Resort to ask them if there was anything they could do since this was such a horrible stay and I felt we needed to leave to seek another place, and I STILL HAVE NOT HAD A RESPONSE! My wife proudly booked this place on labor day weekend for what we deemed a great price for the holiday weekend as well as being right in the beach. After she broke the news to me, I came on here to read reviews, which made me apprehensive. However, we were booked and she has made some great decisions on our travels, so we went forward with the trip. We checked into the main office just before 5, which was their closing time, after spending the day at a Waterpark. Right off the bat, my wife is told she has to pay for parking in the 'resort', $12 for the stay. She wasn't aware of that when booking, so there was our first sign. As we got to our building (we stayed at the Renaissance Tower, a 22 story condo high rise), we unloaded at the 20 minute unloading area. We were told by the lady at check in that it was heavily enforced and tickets are handed out for violators. So we parked and hustled to unload our luggage, get to the lobby to find a crowd at the elevator. There are 3 elevators and apparently the 2nd elevator was stuck on the 8th floor (our floor) with passengers for what had been 30 mins at that point. Sign #2. By time we got on one of the working elevators, we had already eclipsed the 20 min mark. Luckily we weren't ticketed. But I still had to move the car into the closest available space and come back. I didn't want to wait another 20 mins, so I took the stairs. When I got to the room after avoiding cardiac arrest, I come in to find the place is a DUMP. First and foremost, the pictures were very deceiving; the room was comparable in size to a Manhattan loft, roughly 400 sf if at that. Your kitchen is also your sleeping area. Need I say more? Then there was sand everywhere. Even on the bed as I write this. I guess it beats other reviewers who had to sleep in bed bugs and roaches. Now I understand, we're on a beach so there's gonna be sand. But if Navy Seal BUDS participants can empty their quarters of sand for inspections, I'm sure a housekeeping staff can do the same under much less pressure. When I open the sofa bed, first thing I noticed was what a thought was a piece of turd, for lack of a better word. It was folded over the top of the bed. Luckily it looked to be a piece of Gummi bear, if that's supposed to be lucky. There was also a piece of a Reese wrapper. Under the mattress was a load of more sand and seashells. There was dust all over the ceiling fans and ceilings, clearly never been clean. Sand all throughout the bathroom. No dish soap for all of the dirty dishes and cups in the pantry. (But they did have a packet of dishwasher cleaner, single serve). The black comforter over one of the beds was so full of dust you could see it had not been washes. Needless to say, I was upset and called the front desk...only to find out the call was not during normal business hours as they closed at 5. I left a couple of voice-mail and took my 3 screaming, tired and hungry kids out to eat. On our way back we spoke to the security guard at the gate to see if there was an after hours number we could call. He said he would call housekeeping and let them know I had a complaint. We asked the security guard at the building if there was an after hours number and he told us to keep calling the same number that said was closed till next business day (clearly did not know anything). When we got to our room, we received a call from a lady with housekeeping, who was obviously calling from home as I could hear a crying child in the background. After I told her what was going on, she told me she was over an hour away and was trying to get someone to go by the room, but all the rooms were booked so they wouldn't be able to move us. At this point it's already 9:30ish, so I dunno what is to.be accomplished. Then around 10 a maintenance man knocks on our door asking if everything is alright. I recite my plight and he says there's nothing he can do but to talk to 'Bobby', the bldg manager the next day. After he leaves, another housekeeper knocks on our door with bedsheets. I go through it with him again and he tells me there's nothing he can do about all that but he can get housekeeping up the next day to clean the room. So I lay in the sandy bed, listening to a cover band on the beach playing Barry Manilow outside our window with a 5, 4 and 1 year old who keep waking each other up waiting for morning to speak to this Bobby, while silently praying for my family when they hear me snoring tonight. Checked in early at 10 am letting room wasn't ready until 8pm at night. Said that was a "typical" check in. Condo was disgusting. Our reservation showed beautiful photos, when arrived it was disgusting, not cleaned and every room had something broken. Fire alarm was removed with wires hanging out of ceiling. Maintenance took 5 days to fix it. Every outlet was loose. Carpet was rough and filthy. Recorded conversations of dissatisfaction with hotel supervisor and no accommodations were made.
