Beware! The owner is a man named Don. I called to arrange for a rental for 7/9/15 through…read more7/16/15. Don said he would have the car at the airport, in the public area on the night of 7/8 (when we were to arrive), with the keys above the visor and that he would meet my wife and I at our hotel the next morning to sign the papers. My instructions were to call upon arrival and he would identify the car. This sounded a bit odd but maybe that's the way a small business might do things in a smaller town, like Kalispell. On 7/8 I sent Don a text message with the details of our trip and asked for a confirmation which he did confirm. Our flight was 2 hours late so we arrived at 11:00 PM instead of 9:00 PM. I called Don's number several times but there was no answer. We took a taxi to our hotel, which cost $25.00. The next morning I called Don and he at first seemed a bit out of touch, expecting that we would be arriving the 9th instead of the 8th - so much for the confirmation, I thought to myself. He then went on to tell me how the car had been totaled and his office ransacked, he was having a horrible day, and that he would have to call me in a couple of hours to make arrangements. I told my wife this was beginning to sound like a Country Western song and I was uneasy with the whole thing. I asked the hotel manager what she knew of Practical Rent a Car and she knew nothing. More or less instinctively she called the number for the business and asked where they were located. Don answered and fired back the question "Why do you want to know!" to which she replied "because I have a couple who need a car" Much to our chagrin Don's response was something along the line "I don't appreciate you calling before normal business hours" and hung up. A couple of minutes later Don called me stating he did not appreciate me having somebody call and harass him and that I would have to find a rental somewhere else. My wife, the manager and I sort of looked at each other, a bit bemused, having to admit this something of a memorable incident. At that my wife and I took the opportunity to see some of Kalispell and walked to Enterprise Rentals on the other side of town. I have to give some sort of rating so I'll give Don and Practical Rent a Car one star for originality.

John Paul, the owner, personally led our tour. He's hands-on, incredibly knowledgeable, and clearly passionate about Glacier. His respect for the park's boundaries and the hikers below was evident, and he made sure every member of our family--especially our 11-year-old granddaughter--felt engaged and included. Although we've explored Glacier extensively over the past five years, seeing it from the air offered an entirely new perspective. The scale, the terrain, and the vastness suddenly made more sense--especially those ridgelines we've always wondered about. If you're planning to visit Glacier, do this first. It will shape how you experience the park. There's no better guide for this than John Paul--experienced, respectful, and deeply connected to this incredible landscape. I asked the pilot to turn back. We returned. I was frustrated with myself and upset I couldn't go through so my husband could enjoy it also. And feeling like wasted the money.As we were leaving the wife of the owner came out stopped us said that they were very sorry and that they could give us a refund. I filed out the refund paperwork, and then as we were leaving again, we were stopped this time by the owner. He wanted to meet us and again apologize for the unfulfilled experience. Shook our hands and invited us to come back on a nicer day. Next time we are back in kalispell, we will definitely give it another shot. What could have turned me completely away from the experience was completely turned around by the kind owners and managers of Red Eagle Aviation. There are also showers and a kitchen if you opt to use it. We did check out the lodge and the rooms and they were really nice. There's a fire pit for everyone to hang at every night, perfect if you want to learn about where to ride! Tons of maps and hang out space out of the summer best-known really creative bike art too. I can accept the price raise from a few years ago, but I can't accept the underlying racist attitude. I genuinely try to have a positive attitude with everyone, and this lady was so rude. I observed as other families came in, that happened to be a different skin tone than me and the attitude was extremely friendly with them. Additionally, the amount of signs everywhere.. just felt so unwelcoming, if you don't want anyone to enjoy and be comfortable in your "vortex", skip the do not do this signs, and just close down. As I walked through the shop, I had never been so watched in my life. Not that had any intention of taking anything, but I felt so uncomfortable by this lady already on the few interactions we had. Additionally, I got there early before my tour and had asked if I could have the Wi-Fi password as I had a couple things to do for work while I was waiting. Instead of the lady just telling me didn't have it or she couldn't give it out, she implied that I was going to steal the credit card information off of her machine if I have the Wi-Fi password. Not only is this a poorly educated assumption, but it's extremely rude. How is a place that values themselves in science and new theories going to act so ignorant.

My husband, two daughters and I visited this place for a family gathering, and while we enjoyed the…read moreafternoon and early evening barbecue with our extended family, I can't say it met my expectations overall. The barbecue area, located on the right side of the entrance, was a highlight. It has a covered spot with seating, a few fire pits where we roasted marshmallows (they even offer small s'mores packets), and a cozy setup for gatherings. There's also a small restaurant with a limited menu, which is a nice option, plus they serve ice cream. However, the tents themselves left a lot to be desired. Most don't have bathrooms, and I had to use the community restroom. While it was reasonably clean and cute, it's still a communal space. The tents are quite small with very little privacy--you can hear people walking by very clearly, and it doesn't feel like real camping or even glamping. What really shocked me was the price. My in-laws stayed in a tent with a bathroom, and it cost around $800 per night, which is absolutely ridiculous. For that price, I'd expect a luxurious hotel, not a cramped tent with limited amenities. If you prioritize comfort like I do, I honestly wouldn't recommend this place. It's far too expensive for what's offered, and I don't think it's worth the cost. It's a nice spot for a barbecue or a day outing, but not for an overnight stay.

It was a bit on the expensive side - however it was pretty similar to other accommodations in the area in price range and waaaaay nicer. All of the staff was super helpful & nice! We were surprised by the amount of activities they had each day and it was fun to be a part of them. The one thing I'll say is we weren't made aware their road up to the tents was one way, we didn't see any signs either, and when we were driving down to check out one of the employees stopped us & told us, whoops! We loved this place, we'd love to be back with our son and will definitely check out other Under Canvas locations.
