Dr. Iyomasa is great! Super knowledgeable, open, and honest. She explains everything thoroughly. I'm very appreciative of that. Oh! They recently updated their office and equipment so that's a bonus. Even though we have a regular dentist, he wanted to get a 2nd opinion from an oral surgeon. Dr Emily is not an oral surgeon but he needed to see her first to get the referral. This dental office is located in the Aiea Medical building on Aiea Heights Drive right across the street from McDonald's/Aiea Shopping Center. For those of you who live in the area, you know what a bear it is to get into the parking lot & leave off busy Aiea Heights Drive. The parking lot is not very big & if that is full, there are more spaces in the building, but not a lot more. I've heard that parking is expensive here & sure enough, the sign by the parking ticket dispenser shows it's free for the first 1/2 hr & $2 for each 1/2 hr after that. Luckily since our appointment was early, when we pulled in, we found parking right away. Parking spaces are a little tight. When you leave, there's a cashier/lot attendant just around the corner from the elevator where you pay then head to your parked car. You will need the paid ticket to exit to insert in the machine. Once it's confirmed, the arm raises, & then you can exit but you have to pay first before you leave your parking spot. The dental office is on the 2nd floor. Small, but a neat waiting area with a TV. We completed some paperwork & waited just a few minutes before we were called in. Personnel were nice & efficient, not overly friendly, but pleasant. Shortly after we were seated, Dr Emily came in. She grew up here locally. My hubby discussed with her why he was there. Dr Emily was friendly, easy to talk to & listened carefully to my hubby's concerns. She was down to earth & seemed to genuinely care, even though he was not a regular patient. She asked some pointed questions & offered solutions & to make some calls on my hubby's behalf. I found that so reassuring that she would go above & beyond for us. From the time we got there until the time we left, 1 1/2 hrs had passed, most of the time talking with the dr. What I appreciated was, she didn't rush us & even answered some questions I had. We don't know if she had other appts after us, I'm sure she did for when we left, the waiting area was full. But the fact that she didn't rush us just to get to the next patient, impressed me. This was probably the only time we'll see her, but if I needed to go to another dentist in the future, she'd be at the top of the list. We appreciated her time, kudos to you Dr Emily Iyomasa & your staff. Two things that would prevent me from going back are - they do not validate for parking & that they charge a $56 cancellation fee if it is outside of 48 hrs - wow! The first time you cancel, they give you a pass because they understand unexpected stuff happens but then that's it. They make you sign a form so that you are aware of this. Parking cost us $4 for 1 1/2 hrs, not as bad as I thought.

In late July 2020 I was wildly diggin' into some Frrrrrried Chicken, as I was crazy hungry due to missing my breakfast & lunch that day. As I bit into one of my fried chicken pieces I bought from Times Supermarket, I suddenly felt a sharp pain in one of my tooth! Aiyah! The pain was brief, as it went away as quickly as it came, so I really didn't think anything of it, but by the next day I suddenly developed a small abscess on my gums. YIKES!!! Luckily for me, I have a great dentist as he is an old friend & classmate of mines, and after he squeezed me in on a last minute appointment to check out my teeth. My dentist took an x-ray and found out that I had actually fractured one of the roots on my tooth when I bit into that fried chicken. (Insert sad panda face here!) My dentist then gave me a prescription for some antibiotics, and referred me to a specialist. Unfortunately for me, the root that I busted was on one of my tooth that I had a bridge on, so that's how my paths crossed with Dr. Kenneth Choy who works at Honolulu Periodontics & Impants. I must give 10 stars to Dr. Choy, as he is highly skilled in what he does. Dr. Choy had the task of cutting my gums, & peeling back my gums to remove my tooth & fractured root (this is called a root amputation) yet he had the obstacle of keeping my bridge in place without disturbing it. My operation went pretty smoothly with minimum pain, and after the task was done, Dr. Choy was really great in giving instructions on what to do after my operation, and what to expect. Dr. Choy even called me up that evening (on his own time) to check on me, to see how I was doing after my surgery (which was very caring of him). Of course nobody wants to go through any kind of surgery, but if it's a must..........hopefully you'll get referred to Dr. Kenneth Choy, as he is highly skilled and a great doctor.

I went for my first consultation today and let me tell you, they use a lot of newer high tech technology, they are extremely thorough with checking each tooth and explaining what's going on, they not only share with people verbally but also show you what they're looking at on the tv screen as well. The hygienist, Janet, was so so nice and gentle - I really loved getting to know her better. And Dr. Koga was so personable, knowledgeable, and made me feel heard which is super important to me. Because they are so thorough you do need to come in quite a few times but I will say that they'll help create a customized plan for you on how to best take care of your teeth and the maintenance that comes with it. Definitely would recommend!

Speaking on the phone to Jo and Corie to make the appointment was a positive first impression. They don't realize how relieved I felt. Both were so nice, welcoming and compassionate. In fact, setting foot in the office was a good feeling. My fear seemed to have disappeared without even realizing. When I met Dr. Hiramoto, my overall well-being was his priority. He was aware of my allergic reactions and gave a brief consultation before the exam. I was greatly impressed with Dr. Hiramoto's vast knowledge and "keen insight." I liked that he looked at the overall picture instead of just my immediate issue. After the exam, he provided a solution for my situation, made a quick phone call then explained the plan to me. I knew at that moment, Dr. Hiramoto will become my new dentist. Assistant Genie, so polite and nice, and Hygienist Raena, who gave me lots of useful tips - also made my first experience a pleasant one. After my second visit today, all I can say is that I feel blessed and grateful to have found Dr. Hiramoto and his team. They all lifted a heavy burden off my shoulders; especially, after going through over a year of frustration and uncertainties with a previous dental experience. Thank you!! If I could add on another star to my rating, I would. Dr. Hiramoto is AMAZING!
