I couldn't have asked for a better experience with MyGuru. Prior to MyGuru, I initially used a Manhattan prep self-study program to prepare for the GMAT exam and was able to score a 680. I wasn't satisfied with this score and was looking to push higher up to my goal score of 720. I reached out to MyGuru for additional tutoring and Mark immediately paired me with Stefan. I worked with Stefan through videoconferencing which was a very easy and convenient way to receive tutoring. I would highly recommend using this option as you can receive tutoring anywhere (Starbucks, work office, home, etc.) and is very useful for people with a full-time job or a busy schedule. Stefan created a customized schedule for me based on my needs and we did a crash course refresher over a month-long period in order to push my score into the higher percentiles. I enjoyed working with Stefan and he was very flexible with my schedule as I had to change a few schedule times due to work conflicts. In addition, Stefan provided me with structured assignments and unique test taking tips that were much different than the standard Manhattan prep tips I had learned. I appreciated this different way of thinking as it helped me feel more comfortable with the exam and improved my overall test taking abilities. Stefan is strong in both categories (Quant and Verbal) which was very beneficial as he had specific tips for each section. He specifically helped me to improve my overall timing, critical reasoning skills, sentence correction methodology, and data sufficiency abilities. Ultimately, I far surpassed my goal score of a 720 and received a 760. I am more than pleased and very appreciative of the help that Stefan and MyGuru provided to me. MyGuru is great! They were very prompt and responsive from the moment I submitted my request for more information. In preparation for the MAT (Miller Analogies Test), I had ten sessions with the tutor Stefan Maisnier. Each session consisted of an hour and a half video chat and included the use of a virtual whiteboard to assist and illustrate concepts being discussed. After each session, a PDF version of everything that had been written/drawn on the virtual whiteboard was emailed to me. I found MyGuru's online approach, this combination of a virtual whiteboard and Skype, to be particularly convenient and effective for me. A steady improvement in my practice test scores could be seen throughout my sessions. I could not have asked for a better tutor than Stefan! Even though the MAT is a lesser-known exam, Stefan was extremely well versed and informative regarding all aspects of the exam. In addition to offering useful approaches to the exam, Stefan went above and beyond by finding supplementary resources to aid my studying. Furthermore, as a student with learning disabilities it can be difficult to find a tutor who understands my individual learning style; luckily Stefan was completely in tune with my specific needs. Not only was Stefan able to pinpoint which areas were giving me difficulty and why, he also provided me with extremely helpful strategies to work past these challenges. "We worked with MyGuru and tutor named Michael (who had a PhD from Northwestern University in Computer Science, by the way) to help my son prepare for the ACT. He had taken four practice exams (2 Kaplan, 1 Princeton and 1 school) and seemed to have plateaued with a composite score that was good, but not great. Our goal was to boost his math, science and composite to a more competitive level to target some "highly selective" universities in the college admissions process. Our tutor helped our son develop a customized study plan that focused on addressing his weaker areas, but also helped him improve upon his already strong performance in Reading and English. Our first tutor, who held a PhD from the University of Michigan in Political Science, was an excellent tutor from a content perspective (he helped with math, English, and many other subjects, as well as organization and study skills), but was also high energy and an extremely strong communicator. Tutoring companies are a dime a dozen now, but there can only be one "best"...and that would be MyGuru, LLC! They have the BEST tutors, which is what makes them particularly special. Having been to almost every other tutoring center in my town (C2, Kumon, Club Z, Oxford, Eye Level, etc) only MyGuru offered the professionalism and personalized 1-on-1 tutoring that I truly needed. My most recent experience was by far the most valuable. I had to learn how to become a biostatistician in no time. The owner, Mark, set me up with an incredible tutor who is about to earn his PhD in Biostats and who seamlessly tutored me online in SPSS (the software I had to learn) and how to use it for all my necessary applications. I'm thrilled to say that thanks to that, my abstract was accepted by ISHLT (clinical conference) and my study submitted to the top journal in the field (pending acceptance). This would never have been possible, especially in that shortened timetable, had it not been for MyGuru and their incredible tutors. I can't recommend them highly enough. I didn't have any LSAT experience prior to MyGuru. Nonetheless, Stefan helped me improve my LSAT score from average to 95th percentile over the course of only a couple months. Not only was their online tutoring both convenient and user-friendly, but moreover it was much more conducive to my learning (as opposed to traditional in-person tutoring). In particular, being able to save all the notes and compile them in my own personal digital folder allowed me to get the most out of everything we discussed in each lesson and review thoroughly. Stefan did a great job explaining things clearly and fully, teaching at a speed that was best for me, recognizing and attending to my weaknesses, as well as being enjoyable to work with in general. My tutor was Adam Bright, and he tutored me on the LSAT. (Take my review with a grain of salt as he and I shared a VERY similar background, so it is likely we were better able to establish a rapport than perhaps other students/tutors with dissimilar backgrounds.) Adam, as well as the rest of the staff at MyGuru, was welcoming, receptive and accommodating from the beginning. It was easy to get ahold of them and to schedule meetings. The online tutoring was simple and effective. I received a copy of the digital whiteboard from each lesson. Adam always came thoroughly prepared for each session. There was one occasion where Adam was unable to meet at the prescribed time, and he made sure I had another tutor, Stefan, who could fill in, and I was in equally good hands. I have not yet received my score, but I think that contributes to the strength of my review. In what was able to be controlled by MyGuru, they were excellent, start to finish. I went into the December 2nd LSAT as prepared as I could have been, and there was nothing on the test that felt alien. I had a Phenomenal experience with MyGuru. Stefan was very helpful and constantly available. Even though I had to switch tutoring appointments around constantly due to my job, he was always flexible and able to accommodate. As an international student I did not have much standardized test taking experience and never had a tutor before. I had a wonderful experience with MyGuru. I wanted a private tutor to help prepare for the GRE. I am extremely satisfied with my score. My tutor, Chris, was great. We met twice a week. He sent me a practice GRE to take before our first session and then we evaluated my weaknesses at our first meeting. I am very weak in Math and I ended up scoring higher in Quantitative reasoning than Verbal! Chris was very easy to understand. Stefan knew the official questions like the back of his hand and he knew all of the shortcuts. Being that i have a background in communications, the quant section had been a pain point for months. I've been working with Bill from MyGuru for several years. Bill is a really nice guy and very competent math and test prep tutor. He is patient, kind, and a good communicator. Our daughter's math grades improved once we started getting help from Bill. We have run into some logistical issues from time to time, but overall the experience has been very positive. We also have a fair amount of interaction with the owner, Mark, who set us up with Bill a few years ago and handles payment information and tracking of hours used, etc. He is also very professional and transparent to work with. I did independent study using Manhattan Prep and received a 163 on Quant on my GRE exam.
