I couldn't have asked for a better experience with MyGuru. Prior to MyGuru, I initially used a Manhattan prep self-study program to prepare for the GMAT exam and was able to score a 680. I wasn't satisfied with this score and was looking to push higher up to my goal score of 720. I reached out to MyGuru for additional tutoring and Mark immediately paired me with Stefan. I worked with Stefan through videoconferencing which was a very easy and convenient way to receive tutoring. I would highly recommend using this option as you can receive tutoring anywhere (Starbucks, work office, home, etc.) and is very useful for people with a full-time job or a busy schedule. Stefan created a customized schedule for me based on my needs and we did a crash course refresher over a month-long period in order to push my score into the higher percentiles. I enjoyed working with Stefan and he was very flexible with my schedule as I had to change a few schedule times due to work conflicts. In addition, Stefan provided me with structured assignments and unique test taking tips that were much different than the standard Manhattan prep tips I had learned. I appreciated this different way of thinking as it helped me feel more comfortable with the exam and improved my overall test taking abilities. Stefan is strong in both categories (Quant and Verbal) which was very beneficial as he had specific tips for each section. He specifically helped me to improve my overall timing, critical reasoning skills, sentence correction methodology, and data sufficiency abilities. Ultimately, I far surpassed my goal score of a 720 and received a 760. I am more than pleased and very appreciative of the help that Stefan and MyGuru provided to me. I highly recommend test takers try MyGuru instead of the general test-taking companies as you get more bang for your buck and a personalized experience which can lead to highly successful results, as shown in my case! read more

MyGuru is great! They were very prompt and responsive from the moment I submitted my request for more information. In preparation for the MAT (Miller Analogies Test), I had ten sessions with the tutor Stefan Maisnier. Each session consisted of an hour and a half video chat and included the use of a virtual whiteboard to assist and illustrate concepts being discussed. After each session, a PDF version of everything that had been written/drawn on the virtual whiteboard was emailed to me. I found MyGuru's online approach, this combination of a virtual whiteboard and Skype, to be particularly convenient and effective for me. A steady improvement in my practice test scores could be seen throughout my sessions. I could not have asked for a better tutor than Stefan! Even though the MAT is a lesser-known exam, Stefan was extremely well versed and informative regarding all aspects of the exam. In addition to offering useful approaches to the exam, Stefan went above and beyond by finding supplementary resources to aid my studying. Furthermore, as a student with learning disabilities it can be difficult to find a tutor who understands my individual learning style; luckily Stefan was completely in tune with my specific needs. Not only was Stefan able to pinpoint which areas were giving me difficulty and why, he also provided me with extremely helpful strategies to work past these challenges. Stefan proved to be an invaluable resource to my exam preparation! I would definitely recommend MyGuru to anyone looking for a tutor! read more

"We worked with MyGuru and tutor named Michael (who had a PhD from Northwestern University in Computer Science, by the way) to help my son prepare for the ACT. He had taken four practice exams (2 Kaplan, 1 Princeton and 1 school) and seemed to have plateaued with a composite score that was good, but not great. Our goal was to boost his math, science and composite to a more competitive level to target some "highly selective" universities in the college admissions process. Our tutor helped our son develop a customized study plan that focused on addressing his weaker areas, but also helped him improve upon his already strong performance in Reading and English. We invested in 10 hours of tutoring, and saw results that we were extremely happy with. Our son's score in Science, his weakest area, jumped from below the 50th percentile to near the 90th. Ultimately, he reached his target composite score and we are grateful to the excellent job that Michael from MyGuru did. In addition to being an extremely competent tutor and generally impressive individual, Michael was punctual, organized, and communicated very well. I highly recommend Michael and MyGuru, and from what I can tell, the prices we paid were, while not low, very affordable relative to what some of the large tutoring companies will charge you for 1-1 instruction." read more

"I purchased almost 100 hours of tutoring from MyGuru over the course of a few years. Our first tutor, who held a PhD from the University of Michigan in Political Science, was an excellent tutor from a content perspective (he helped with math, English, and many other subjects, as well as organization and study skills), but was also high energy and an extremely strong communicator. When he moved away, MyGuru helped connect us with a different tutor. We actually went through a few different tutors who didn't "fit" as well with our child, but MyGuru worked diligently to offer other options. We ultimately were introduced to an excellent math and science tutor, a Northwestern University graduate and certified math, chemistry, and biology teacher. My child clicked with him immediately. He has an excellent command of math and science and could break things down in a variety of different ways to help reinforce key concepts. When this tutor decided to break away from MyGuru and tutor on his own, MyGuru was understanding and allowed us to seamlessly transition our relationship over to this individual tutor,. Unfortunately, this meant losing us as a customer. I commend My Guru in that their first concern was ensuring we had a tutor to work with whom we felt comfortable with. I highly recommend MyGuru." read more

I didn't have any LSAT experience prior to MyGuru. Nonetheless, Stefan helped me improve my LSAT score from average to 95th percentile over the course of only a couple months. Not only was their online tutoring both convenient and user-friendly, but moreover it was much more conducive to my learning (as opposed to traditional in-person tutoring). In particular, being able to save all the notes and compile them in my own personal digital folder allowed me to get the most out of everything we discussed in each lesson and review thoroughly. Stefan did a great job explaining things clearly and fully, teaching at a speed that was best for me, recognizing and attending to my weaknesses, as well as being enjoyable to work with in general. I appreciated that he was flexible when it came to scheduling, but made sure to keep me on track with the necessary "homework" (so to speak) that I needed to do in order to succeed. The way in which the lessons flowed felt natural, made perfect sense, and conformed nicely to my specific needs/timeframe. Without Stefan's help at MyGuru, I would not have known how to tackle the LSAT strategically as a whole, let alone attack each section, passage, question type, etc. Thank you, Stefan! read more

My tutor was Adam Bright, and he tutored me on the LSAT. (Take my review with a grain of salt as he and I shared a VERY similar background, so it is likely we were better able to establish a rapport than perhaps other students/tutors with dissimilar backgrounds.) Adam, as well as the rest of the staff at MyGuru, was welcoming, receptive and accommodating from the beginning. It was easy to get ahold of them and to schedule meetings. The online tutoring was simple and effective. I received a copy of the digital whiteboard from each lesson. Adam always came thoroughly prepared for each session. There was one occasion where Adam was unable to meet at the prescribed time, and he made sure I had another tutor, Stefan, who could fill in, and I was in equally good hands. I have not yet received my score, but I think that contributes to the strength of my review. In what was able to be controlled by MyGuru, they were excellent, start to finish. I went into the December 2nd LSAT as prepared as I could have been, and there was nothing on the test that felt alien. My time with Adam and MyGuru was well spent and surely led to an improvement that I am excited to see. read more

When I finally committed to going to grad school, I decided my time and money to prepare would be best used with a tutor rather than a traditional classroom setting. I found MyGuru while researching local options and got all my questions answered by using the chat feature on the site. Mark gave me all the information I needed and then some. He was great to work with when setting up the tutoring sessions. Plus, it's a nonprofit! I worked with John and he provided exactly the guidance I was looking for and needed. He was very flexible given my work schedule and helped me craft a thorough and effective study plan to tackle the GMAT. I found John to be very knowledgeable in all of the areas covered by the exam and he did an excellent job identifying my problem areas and breaking down those topics that I found difficult, creating customized homework assignments, and referring the best study guides and prep materials. Overall, I had a great experience with John and MyGuru. I highly recommend both to anyone looking for personalized attention and guidance on the road to successfully completing the GMAT. read more

I had a Phenomenal experience with MyGuru. Stefan was very helpful and constantly available. Even though I had to switch tutoring appointments around constantly due to my job, he was always flexible and able to accommodate. As an international student I did not have much standardized test taking experience and never had a tutor before. However, Stefan really helped me improve my core skills and also helped me develop crucial test taking strategies. I was able to see improvements after every single tutoring session with him. Overall, he helped me improve my GMAT score by 90 points (from 650 in diagnostic test to 740 on the actual test), which was way above what I thought was possible. On top of that, Stefan refunded all of my unused tutoring hours that I had prepaid for, as I was able to reach my target score much sooner than expected. I highly recommend using MyGuru if you are preparing for the GMAT, I am convinced that I could not have achieved such a high score without Stefan's help. Thank you! read more

I had a wonderful experience with MyGuru. I wanted a private tutor to help prepare for the GRE. I am extremely satisfied with my score. My tutor, Chris, was great. We met twice a week. He sent me a practice GRE to take before our first session and then we evaluated my weaknesses at our first meeting. I am very weak in Math and I ended up scoring higher in Quantitative reasoning than Verbal! Chris was very easy to understand. Took his time in explaining each concept and was very reliable and smart! He gave me great strategies to help achieve the score I wanted. The company is not pushy and does not try to sell you more products or extra sessions that you do not want. They are very fairly priced too. A WONDERFUL COMPANY! I wish I had used them for the ACT four years ago. I gave their name to my cousin and she is using Chris now too! I HIGHLY RECOMMEND MYGURU! My family has used many other tutoring companies for ACT, GRE and DAT. THIS IS THE BEST ONE AROUND! read more

I was very pleased with the MyGuru experience. When I initially desperately reached out to them in March 2018, my daughter, a senior in high school, was failing multiple subjects, including chemistry and two math classes, and was in jeopardy of not graduating in late May. She was stressed out and underperforming. Morgan Bissett reached out to me and connected us with a tutor, Ben, who was tailor-made to assist my daughter. They met once or twice a week, depending on our schedule, and before we knew it, my daughter was more confident and did a much better job on assignments and tests. She passed all of her classes, met graduation requirements, and walked the stage proudly with her Senior class. I am thankful for the great customer service we were shown, and the dedication MyGuru staff presented to encourage and teach my daughter a better understanding of her course work in such short order. I've already recommended MyGuru to others. read more

My son is a sophomore at University of Illinois. During the first week of classes being online, my son realized that he needed additional support for an upper level finance class. He tried peer tutoring online and that was not enough. My sister told me about her son's success with MyGuru for tutoring of high level science classes. I contacted Mark and he was quickly able to find the perfect match for my son. Danny was highly qualified to tutor this finance class. It was super easy to schedule a time. My son said it was a very productive tutor session and the two of them met one more time before his exam. I really appreciate the speed of setting up the initial tutor session, the high quality tutor and that the price was very competitive. We used to use Varsity Tutors, but the tutors were not as qualified and the pricing was higher. I'm happy to recommend MyGuru! read more

Stefan has been incredibly helpful and supportive throughout my LSAT journey. He is great at pointing out which areas need to be focused on, and he takes the time to tailor his teaching method to each student. His tutoring has been extremely effective (for reference, my PT average went up 18 percentile points). I highly recommend having him as a tutor, not only because of his effectiveness, but also because of his genuine interest in helping his students become successful. Stefan always went the extra mile to ensure that I was prepared and always did whatever he could to support my professional journey. I used the other major LSAT companies' tutoring services before MyGuru, and none of them were worth the money nor were they nearly as effective. I can't thank Stefan and MyGuru enough, and I would recommend them to anyone without hesitation! read more

I had the best experience with MyGuru. My tutor was Stefan Maisner and other than the fact that he is a fellow Trojan, he is without a doubt the best tutor I could have possibly found. Stefan knew the official questions like the back of his hand and he knew all of the shortcuts. Being that i have a background in communications, the quant section had been a pain point for months. Stefan also had a background in communications and he was able to teach me in the way that I understood the math concepts that I needed to grasp, and showed me how to think logically and critically about the problems that didn't require you to "do the math." I found him to be extremely organized and prepared for every lesson. Moreover, Stefan was patient, understanding, and encouraging. The only thing I wish is that I found him sooner! read more

MyGuro was a phenomenal find. Something very unique about MyGuro is that they turn a professional expereince into something very personal. It is easy to find tutors that are knowledgable, but to find tutors that actually care about you is rare. Starting with company founder, Mark Skoskiewicz, MyGuro really goes over and beyond to really get to know their students. A simple Google search for CPA tutors turned into one of the best decsions I ever made. Before Myguro, my CPA studying expereince was very frusterating. I had taken the CPA exam various times and still was struggeling to pass. Almost a year later, I am a Certified Public Accountant. Studying for the CPA is a team effort. I am very grateful for my tutors Chris & Elena as well as Mark for going the extra mile. They are the MVPS. read more

We were thrilled with our daughter's tutor, Paul, and both he and Mark, the owner, were always responsive to any questions or needs. Paul worked with our daughter, who is now a high school junior, on ACT prep, along with a bit of preparation for the new version of the PSAT administered in October. Because we knew fall would be hectic, we were able to customize a program and arrange twice a week sessions in late summer followed by once a week in the fall. Paul was willing to come to our house, and they developed a great rapport. Best of all, she met her goal with a strong score on the ACT, and she performed really well on the PSAT. The price was reasonable, and the one-on-one tutoring helped her focus on specific strategies to suit her learning style. read more

I'll start by saying that I would heavily recommend using MyGuru. I used MyGuru for one-on-one GMAT tutoring (Stefan was my tutor) and I found it to push me much further and deeper in my thinking of test-taking strategies than I would've been able to get from a book, or online pre-canned videos. I had the opportunity to really understand the strategies needed to successfully achieve a high score on the GMAT, in an easy to understand format and a no-judgment environment. If you're looking for a tutoring service that's friendly, accommodating, interactive, and results-oriented, then MyGuru is the service for you. Don't hesitate to reach out to the company owner and founder, Mark, either. He's very friendly, very responsive, and always ready to help. read more

I've been working with Bill from MyGuru for several years. Bill is a really nice guy and very competent math and test prep tutor. He is patient, kind, and a good communicator. Our daughter's math grades improved once we started getting help from Bill. We have run into some logistical issues from time to time, but overall the experience has been very positive. We also have a fair amount of interaction with the owner, Mark, who set us up with Bill a few years ago and handles payment information and tracking of hours used, etc. He is also very professional and transparent to work with. Finally, I would say the pricing for the tutoring service is very competitive. I would certainly recommend MyGuru to others and have had a good experience. read more

Amazing experience working with Stephen at MyGuru for the GRE. Prompt, professional, customized, willing to work around my schedule - exceeded my goal score! I did independent study using Manhattan Prep and received a 163 on Quant on my GRE exam. Scheduled time with Stephen the next day, then set up several sessions over 3 weeks, and ended up scoring a 168 on Quant on my final GRE (Verbal went up as well). Appreciated that Stephen did not just recycle old content, especially since I had already studied for a while. He also was flexible and willing to fit me in around his and my schedules over a short time period. All for a very good per-hour price vs. competitors. The end results speak for themselves. I recommend MyGuru to all! read more

I worked with Stefan Maisnier from October 2024 to April 2025 to prepare for the GMAT, and I couldn't recommend him more. He did an amazing job breaking down tough concepts in a way that actually made sense and stuck with me. Stefan shared tons of helpful tips and strategies tailored to the GMAT and always made sure I had the tools I needed to feel confident going into the exam. What really stood out was how responsive he was--even outside of our sessions. I could leave questions on a virtual whiteboard and he'd always take the time to respond thoughtfully. If you're looking for a GMAT tutor who's not only smart but also patient, supportive, and committed to your success, Stefan's the one. read more
