Ordered meta glasses. It's been almost 2 weeks and no call so I call them. They've had the glasses in for a week but no one thought it was a good idea to let the customer know they were in, which is what they said they would do. Then to top it off they ordered THE WRONG FRAMES!!! Needless to say I won't be going back after they correct there screw up. I wouldn't have been so upset had they at least contacted me to tell me they were in, but it's like customer service is nonexistent at this place. It has been 2 years since my last eye appointment. My appointment was at 9 am. I was able to do all paperwork online, so that always makes the check in process very easy. I was greeted and taken straight back where Stacy started my eye exam. Very friendly! Shortly after she was done, the doctor came in and completed his process. I decided to go for contacts for the first time and him and Stacy answers all my questions. They even have a "class" to show you the proper way to put in and remove the contacts and how to take care of them. All in all a great visit and I hope I don't have to see them again for another year or two! (Ohhh.... After 9 months of glasses that are not correct I went to LensCrafters today and started the process of replacing these horrible glasses Eye Med provided me. I did go to their site and gave them all of my information as per their request. All I got was crickets. The store did call me and I did go up there to discuss the issues with them. They would have remade them once but I didn't trust that they would do them correctly. They gave me a partial refund and I promised to never use them again. Quite honestly between their horrible corporate policy of "they will remake them once"but if they aren't right you are just stuck with them. I was able to confirm today that the prescription I gave them was not what I got. All I can say is if you are thinking of using them....run in the other direction! read more

Don't waist your time with this agency. They charged my insurance allowance plus double from my pocket, just for lenses. I had my frames and lenses done last year at Walmart and cost me zero dollars. I find them rip off , they also charged me and my wife $39 each for retinal photos one more scam to get your pocket. Left there office with out any glasses, very disappointed. I have no issue with the Dr's but they have a 'new policy' implemented that has caused me to leave. Only 2 appointments per day for families. I need 3 in a row, 3 separate time slots. This has never been an issue in the past and it is very inconvenient to be MADE to take 2 days for 3 appointments. STUPID POLICY!!! Apparently, My Eye Dr has started a new policy (became aware of it today 7/15/23) where no matter what the hours are listed on the door, if there is no eye doctor on premises, they don't open the store. Today is Saturday, hours are supposed to be 9:00am - 6:00pm, but at 10:00 the doors were locked, lights were out. No sign saying 'sorry for the inconvenience', nothing. I guess if the doc possibly goes on a bender (I don't mean to disparage the integrity of the doctor of course), doesn't feel like coming in, whatever, too bad so sad for you. I was sorely disappointed in the lack of thoroughness of the exam and the pace at which I was pushed thru the office. I have worn glasses for 58 years and had many exams. I felt like I was in a corporate assembly line. When I picked up my prescription the young man delivering never checked my frames for fit, I had to ask for a card to see if the prescription even worked and when I told him the frames felt like they were going to fall off, he took them, walked away and adjusted them without ever checking to see where they landed on my face. Terrible fit and now I am getting sore spots where they hit wrong. The one good thing I can say is that the prescription seems to be good and the alignment on the progressives seems to be right. My wife accomplished that online. That may be my next pair, online! read more

I have been a patient here for years and I think it is a good practice. I like Dr. Reams and have seen him for years. The staff seems nice. Glasses seem a bit pricey, but that could just be the combination of my insurance, and the lenses I get. I haven't had a problem with my glasses coming in at a reasonable time. I've been a patient for at least 7 years and get glasses every year. Additionally, I've had 3 x's I've broken either lenses or frames and had no issues having them replaced. They recently revamped the office. I used to call the corporate headquarters and complain about the Rincon office needing an overhaul. It is much nicer now. It was a mess and outdated and dirty - at no fault of the workers - it need repainting, repairs, etc. Now it is a nice office. read more

Yikes!!! I think the office staff forgot they were involved in Healthcare! So, I'm splitting the difference. 5 Stars for the OD I saw and 0 Stars for the horrible way the office staff made me feel when I went to check out. So, last June I went to the Pooler Office and had a great experience. I ended up spending about $800 over my $150 insurance benefit for contacts and the discounts offered by my insurance for also buying glasses at that time, but what are you going to do. Fast forward a couple of weeks ago when I went to change my contacts and remembered at that very moment that 3 weeks earlier when I went to do the same thing I was out of Left Contacts and was currently wearing the left ones from 2 years ago. This, Ladies and Gentleman, is the joy of my brain. So, quickly, immediately, before I can forget this time, I go to schedule an appointment in Pooler only to discover that there are none for 2 weeks. So, I check Rincon and see...AN APPOINTMENT IN MERE DAYS!!! My exam with the first lady was interesting. She was no-nonsense, no personality, and trying to make any kind kind of small talk to ease my anxiety wasn't going to happen. Think Joe Friday, Just the facts, Ma'am but in a way that makes you regret you tried to make a light joke. I dismiss this as maybe she's having a bad day. Don't we all from time to time? Except for when she made me feel bad about having high eye pressure which has been there for 25 years. "And no one has done anything about it????" Ummmm, errrr, wellll, every year they tell me that my eyes look healthy so.... Next I see Dr Reames, who is the savior of this story. He has a great personality, made me feel relaxed after I am now questioning why I didn't wait the 2 weeks for Pooler, answered my questions, did one of the absolutely best ever jobs of the, "Is 1 or 2 better?" tests because don't we all have some performance anxiety on that one wanting to get it right!?? and just gave me this completely unhurried, thorough, wonderful exam with a warm personality. I walk out happy to the waiting room. I am called up to a eye stand desk thing to pay/order contacts/etc and the lady tells me it will be I believe something over $200 after insurance for my contacts. I told her I couldn't do that and in mid sentence she told me that I still had to pay for my $75 exam. I told her I was confused because my exam was always $10. (After the fact I did sort this out. It drops down to $10 in a way with contacts and glasses purchases) but again, midsentence, she just stood up and started walking over to the main desk so I followed. The Manager comes out, who I instantly loved with her warm personality. I told her about my $75/10 copay, she adjusted it. Then she gave me the same price on contacts and I said "I just can't. I can use my insurance on ContactsDirect and my total is $3." The Manager, who I would consider as working in Healthcare, i.e Caring for the Health of People said, "Well, they are doing that illegally and once they get caught they will never be allowed to sell again. and you won't be able to use your insurance there" in this incredibly angry voice. I was taken aback and said, "I'm really sorry. I've been in and out of the hospital with some serious medical problems and it left us with just a few hundred in our FSA account for the rest of the year. I looked at our insurance website, which led me to Contactsdirect." Her response, "If your insurance is involved, they won't be allowed to sell Acuview either" even angier. In an instant, it became obvious that My Eye Dr, as in my personal eye Dr, did not care about me as a person but about how much money they would be able to make off at me, even to the detriment of making me ill by getting angry at me that I could not buy contacts from them. read more

I had no problems with the eye exam or the staff during that exam. However, when I picked up my glasses, they were handed to me and I was shipped out the door. I have never picked up glasses where the staff has not fitted them to me. Made sure the arms were over my ears, glasses sat on my face properly.....so I now own a pair of glasses that the arms go out past the back of my head, don't sit properly, and I'm not sure that one of the lenses is correct. read more

Our experience was deplorable and wanted to make sure everyone is aware!!!! 2019: Since I filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau and dinged them online all of a sudden I get a voicemail that my son's glasses should be here today and they will have a police escort there. That is NOT customer CENTRIC!! Again, my family and I are done doing business with this place. We were customers for years which is very unfortunate. My son is horrified at this point of the treatment he received at the age of 12. AVOID THIS PLACE!!!! Customer service is horrible. My son is 12 and has been waiting on his glasses for over a month. No on cares at this location. Spoke to Dallas the "Manager" at this location and she continues to lie about the status. My son broke his glasses and I have a warranty through MyEye Dr. and they are telling me the lab keeps breaking his lenses and that the lab is my insurance companies lab. (Reminder the warranty is though MyEye Dr not my insurance company) Called my insurance company and they said they have never heard of this lab this office is referring to. My insurance company even called MyEye Dr and are just as lost as to why my son doesn't have his glasses yet. When you call the office Dallas the manager and her staff will cut you off and are very rude. Asked to speak to someone above Dallas and she will not give me anyone. I have to constantly call for updates as they do not keep you updated. I have been given so many dates for when my sons glasses will be ready. I drove up there on the last date Dallas told me my sons glasses would be in and she lied in the store and said Virginia the store manager called me and already gave me a status which isn't true. I have an IPHONE so I still have the message transcript in which it was Dallas not Virginia this particular voicemail. Then Dallas tells me it's UPS fault she cannot control UPS. I left the store called the Complaint number for MyEye Dr and they said the notes state that the glasses are not ready yet they are still showing they are being worked on. HOW CAN IT BE UPS FAULT WHEN THE GLASSES ARE STILL NOT READY!!!! OMG this is the worst office ever. Since I have had these issues with them I have read other reviews which echo the similar experiences. I cannot put into words how awful this experience has been. My son is 12 and constantly asks about his glasses. He cannot see the board and this office knows this and doesn't care. The last message which was left by Virginia last week said his glasses would be here on September 5. Guess what I still don't have them and she didn't call to tell me why. I am sure she only left that message because I called to complain so they are trying to pretend they are giving me customer service I suppose. Luckily my insurance company sympathized with me and allowed me to get an early exam at another location for him. Well MyEye Dr still owes me frames since I paid for the warranty to have a peace of mind. I guess the only way to get your frames is to seek legal action. Folks Effingham optical is the best.My eye doctor is the worst Mrs.Dallas is very nasty she let a sweet lady named Rachel who went to the extra mile for you.Folks this lady has worked for my Eye Doctor for years.Her Husband had a stroke and she was the only taking care of him.I went there to get my glasses tighten and Dallas was very rude I was standing at the door and she quoted to MAM YOU NEED TO HAVE A MASK or LEAVE so Mrs.Racheal was kind of enough here you go Mrs.White,and asked How may I help you. I would go anywhere but here!!! I had a 4:40 pm appt and my husband a 5:00 pm. We were running a few minutes late and got there at 4:45. They called us twice between 4:40 and 4:45 harassing us about what time we were going to get there because the doctor only had a "10 minute window." They are not even supposed to close until 6:00. We were rushed through signing paperwork and while I was trying to figure out how to answer the COVID form (I wanted to be honest because my daughter had omicron and came out of quarantine about two weeks prior) but as soon as they saw me answer yes to the question that someone had it they immediately said "we can't treat you" and snatched the paperwork from us without even discussing it. They never wanted to see us in the first place!!! They were just ready to close up and go home with no consideration for their patients or the time we took to come there. The COVID discussion should've have happened prior to physically arriving!!! Will never go here again. read more

I WILL NEVER COME BACK HERE AGAIN! staff is totally incompetent after a confirmation of my appointment I called to confirm insurance then I was told no your appointments tomorrow so I showed up taken off work again came to the place and she said oh your appointment was yesterday we can't see you again for another month so I called customer service they called me back two days later said we can squeeze you in on Tuesday went in for glasses only doctor take me to the back came back out front mind you I have Medicaid everything should be covered right WRONG! he tried to charge me $145 for a Contacts fitting that I didn't even ask for then in front of everybody the young man says oh well you're gonna take those contacts back out then which I was fine with but to be embarrassed in front of everybody in there was ridiculous. The receptionist was not very knowledgeable about my situation and went to the back to evidently talk to a manager who never came out to talk to me or check on my situation. She told me I would have to buy another set and naturally I couldn't believe I had used my full subscription before my year was even up (4 months to go). So I took a deep breath and asked what it would the cost be since that looked like it was going to be the only option for me to get another contact. The reception looked at me and said "I don't know" and didn't even offer to find out what my cost would be. So needliess to say I decide I needed to leave the situation. When I have my next checkup it will be at with another eye doctor. So sorry Dr. Daniel I did like you as my eye doctor but the people running the office ruined it for me. read more
