I thought he might have had an off day on my 1st visit, but 2nd and 3rd only got far worse, which were spread out over 6 months. He is the first doctor in my 25+ years who seems to genuinely **not care** about me getting better and helping me become a better patient. Having been married to an ER doc and being involved with docs for many years, from social circles, this is not a stellar patient advocate, nor educator, either. All attempts to ask questions resulted in one word replies and generally rushed out of the office. Take a look at my other reviews, it is the first 1-star -- ever. Unfortunately, it seems the bar is pretty low here in Phoenix, as compared to Los Angeles, Chicago, New York, and Detroit.

Interesting experience yesterday when I called and made an appointment for the next day due to a…read morebad cough with congestion. I was offered a video visit but declined since I had already made an appointment. A little while later I got a call from someone I thought was a triage nurse but was actually the nurse practioner. So I didn't state all the symptoms and saved some for the nurse practioner visit the next day. Later I got a call from the office staff asking if I wanted to keep the appointment tomorrow since I had a video visit. I informed her that I was not aware that it was a video visit since I had already declined the video visit earlier and kept the appointment. She seemed surprised. I called back later and canceled the appointment. Someone had also called about my labs which I know have multi abnormal values and I declined reviewing them stating I was seeing someone in person tomorrow and she can go over them then. So, I guess I won't know what to do about the abnormal lab results as well. Needless to say I wont be returning due to the bumbling staff and the risk of things going sour the next time I attempt to see a nurse practioner. Disappointing since I planned on continuing to go there but now I won't be returning which probably don't really matter to them.

The TPC (ThePilotCenter.com) website is really easy to navigate, and booking on their portal website Vagaro.com was simple. I was relieved to see there was plenty of availability, and could have managed a same day appointment (but I don't procrastinate when it comes to that First Class). Now what sets this office apart is their communication. Appointment confirmation when booked, a few days out I received an email and text to confirm, and the day before almost like a checklist to make sure I didn't forget any important documents (pilots love checklists). During the appointment the office visit was seamless and very efficient with little to no time wasted. Before I knew it Dr. Dykema was ready for me to head back. All of the same exam items one expects for a First Class (this time including an EKG because getting old sucks). The price is very reasonable and receipt was no problem for reimbursement from the airline. In the end, absolutely no reason to be nervous. I had a great experience, and expect you to have the same.

Honor Health Deer Valley Medical Center deserves a million stars! The hospital and staff are…read morephenomenal! They care for my Father with excellence. I want to recognize someone that was extraordinary and went out of his way to help me. I will NEVER forget Mike Kenney-in security! I had just found out my father was having emergency surgery. I raced to the hospital. My dad was waiting in a room at the er. He was going to Pre Op. Mr. Kenney hustled me back to the room-and I was sad to see the bed was gone. He had been taken to pre op. Mr. Kenney could tell I was upset bc I didn't get to see my elderly dad before he went to emergency surgery. He quickly advised me the fastest way to see him. I know this doesn't seem like a lot-but I am forever grateful bc I got to spend time with him right before surgery. I was also there to support my mom who was very worried. If it weren't for Mike-I wouldn't have been there for my mom or got to hug my dad. I am forever grateful. He didn't have to go out of his way to help me. I saw the amazing Mike several days to follow. He is excellent at his job and truly cares about patients and their family! MIKE KENNEY-you deserve a million stars! I am forever grateful! I will say not all staff will fall in this category but unfortunately the one nurse on the 4th floor, Pavilion 2 orthopedic unit RUDE!!! There's no reason to come into work with an attitude when your patients and their family members are helping with their recovery. Thank goodness she wasn't his nurse just a rude one at the nurses station. They always say family is a part of a patients care and the only thing I inquired about was someone to come and clean a restroom because housekeeping wasn't there yesterday and he didn't want to sit on it. If you know you know how some meds will do you. But that nurse stood out the most for her rudeness. I get it, we're all stressed but don't be rude for an already stressful situation. But the other staff I found to be nice and accommodating and made sure I was comfortable knowing I was staying with my family member. Thank you to the staff that showed up to their jobs as professionals. What I've learned, you can't be a voice for the patient and leave the morning crew alone. Terrible!!! UPDATE: My family member wanted me to make sure to give a special thank you to Ms. Teresa in housekeeping, even she stated if the bathroom ever looks like that again to call her. She gave us her card with the number. Also there were a couple of male nurses John and I forget the really tall male nurse that helped him out of bed and the other male nurse that got me a warm blanket and checked vitals. This is the type of professionalism that we look for in nursing. So the nurses that took care of my family member on July 18th! Thank you. July 19th is when he started complaining about his care.
