This is my second experience with Mya Locksmith and both were top notch. In both cases I had no keys for my car. In the first case I bought a VW Jetta with no key. Diego arrived on time and created a key on-site for the best price I found. Auto dealers require you to tow your car to them. Both cases were for chipped keys. They arrive with everything they need to get the job done. I call them mission impossible vans. LOL. It's all in there. These guys are high tech. My second experience was yesterday and Ivan showed up on time at 9 p.m. and had the same level of expertise as Diego and fabricated a fully functional key (lock/unlock, panic button) on site in a very reasonable amount of time. We called many places to get a key cut and programmed for our 2013 Subaru, however we kept being told that we had to do it directly through the dealer. When we called MYA locksmith and spoke to Diego he was very professional and helpful, letting us know that he would try and program/cut our car key. I needed a second key made for my car, but the dealerships charge a ridiculous amount. So I gave MYA a call and went into their shop to see what they could do. My car is a Euro-market model, so it's tricky to make the key (flip key, laser cut, remote FOB). No problem for Diego! I scheduled my appointment Monday for Friday this week to change the locks on a home I just purchased.I was supposed to get a call at noon with an arrival time. I never got a call. So at one I called Mya and the receptionist said stay near the phone I'll have the technician call you. Quarter till 6 still no call so I called back and she said I'll have the technician call to reschedule. If I didn't call her back I doubt I would have known that they weren't coming. I'm a contractor as well if I'm going to be late or half to reschedule I at least give a courtesy call. Glad I took the day off thanks MYA. Last week I called Mya Locksmith after I inadvertently locked myself out of my home. Diego called back right away and came within a reasonable period of time. He was efficient, pleasant, fairly priced and did the work like a pro. I was into my home in just a few minutes. I asked him to come back the following week to replace all of the locks in my home and he did. Most importantly - he was on time and had all of the equipment that he needed. His truck is amazing. A complete locksmithing shop on wheels. Diego took the time to explain what he was doing, the different types of lock choices and their value, all of the pricing, and then he went to work. Handed me a bill that included $200 just for showing up. Important! This was NOT an after hours appointment, but a pre-arranged appointment to re-key a house. Spent a lot of time trying to talk me into keys I didn't need (like one for a porch screen door, just to up the price). At the end of the job, handed me keys whose heads did not match, but claimed "it would be okay because they all fit the doors anyway." I protested that I couldn't use keys that all looked different for single lock entry, as it would be too confusing. He remade the keys using a key type that was more expensive. Then acted like he was doing me a favor for not charging for the keys I didn't want. Charged $90 an hour for re-keying my house even though spent the majority of the time talking on the phone arranging other appointments. We have moved 10 times in 20 years due to the nature of our work. Never had an experience this bad. read more

These guys saved my weekend! I completely LOST the only key to my 2004 Subaru Forester somewhere in Croton Point Park... on a Sunday. I called up MYA Locksmith and the owner sent his man Vincent down from Peekskill. He was there within 15 minutes, even though it was his day off. He was incredibly polite and professional, and in less than an hour I was on my way with a new key that works on both door and ignition. Do Not use this company. They are dirty business. You will get several quotes the guy doesn't know how to make up his mind how much the total should be. I finally had to asked after the fourth time asking the price whats the total for everything. He (Diego) told me $120 for regular locks and $130 for a deadbolt. Ok no problem. Once the job was done he said $130 for a regular lock. Lies lies lies. Please go to another company and don't deal with the hassle or stress with this company. Diego was very nice and efficient. He went over everything with me and replaced a deadbolt that he said was better than Schlage locks. I did not realize the brass finish was different than the handle which was not in the best shape. He did not replace the metal plate on the door jamb which I called him about. He was going to come back to replace it. The next day, I replaced the entire door lock - handle and deadbolt. Deigo's lock was returned to him. He did come back to rekey a door to match the one I put in. I was refunded 70% of the cost of the original deadbolt and charged me that much for the second visit. Basically, it cost me $196 for him to rekey a door lock twice and make a few copies of keys. Needless to say - I was not happy. Diego reply is incorrect. He refunded me 70% of the lock charge and charged me that amount for the second visit. It was not done at no cost. I would have been happy if he did refund the full price of the lock. read more

Diego replaced a lock for us a year ago and he was great. This time our front door lock fell out and he sent his assistant as he was away on vacation. The assistant was hours late, and it started to snow. He finally arrived and took off the plate, fiddled with the old lock, didn't replace it with a new lock, and charged us $85.00.
