I paid that amount upfront, only to be blindsided at my postop appointment with an unexpected additional charge of $1,500. I was not informed of this extra cost until I arrived for my appointment. The receptionist told me that if I didn't pay the $1,500 immediately, I wouldn't be seen. When I raised my concerns with the office manager, I was told that the person who originally quoted me no longer works there and that there was nothing they could do to honor the original quote. It's clear they will say whatever it takes to get you to commit to their laser procedure, only to hit you with surprise charges later. This office was supposed to be my second opinion and $500 cheaper than the first option I considered -- had I known the true cost, I never would have proceeded. The staff were rude, disrespectful, and worst of all, condescending. Not only was I scammed out of an extra $1,500, but I also lost additional income by missing work for both the procedure and postop visit. I paid the balance only because I had no choice at that point, but I will never return. I would not recommend Schlueter Periodontics to anyone -- not even to my worst enemy.

Then the snippy person at the office told him it shouldn't be a big deal because he's always been paying out of pocket. WTAF????? For the record, other than dental work, the most he has paid out of pocket was about $80 when the office started doing xrays twice a year to pad their billing, and his former insurance only paid for xrays once a year. I have been a patient at Sunset Hills Dental as well; they have lost me as well. I have already found another dental practice and will not return to SHDG.

Two months later, tooth fell off again. I saw a different dentist who glued it back. Thereafter, I visited the oral surgeon to whom they referred me. They were good, but inside me says that I should get a second opinion. Dental office #3, I went to see last month, August 2017. This office was almost great but the insurance/finance gal frustrated me. Not sure whether she really knows what she's doing. Needless to say, I decided to see Dental office #4, Brookwood Dental Center. It's as if I have been "dating" guys who are "nice" but gave no spark, I think I found "The One." Dr. Stegmann did not make me feel as if I'm just "squeezed" between VIP patients. I could sense that he heard me -- me, as a competent person; me, as one who is asking for a caring help. I also sensed his labor over my dilemma (ie costs) versus what is good for my dental health. And he courteously acknowledged the pleasure of meeting me before he exited the room. It felt sincere and not a perfunctory gesture. Then Lisa, the insurance/finance person, came in with her customary papers. I had to stop her after a few minutes, to tell her how comfortable she made me feel and how I appreciate her gentle, knowledgeable, caring presentation of the plan costs. Her want to meet my (financial) concerns is palpable! She was not just pointing out how much I need to cough up. She met me in a way as if she's there to help me afford "this." It was a breath of fresh air to meet one like Lisa, doing her job, with the attitude of wanting to help and be helpful. As I mentioned earlier, like dating, I may have found the Dental Office that I want to continue to see.
