They were very helpful, gave us a tour, and essentially confirmed our spot. If they had given any indication there wouldn't be space I would've lined up backup daycares. A month or so after I gave birth I reached out to them to check in, and got no response. After a week I emailed again, with no response. I started panicking a little (my son was supposed to start in just a couple of months) and called frequently. No one answered or returned my calls or voicemails. Finally after a MONTH of reaching out, they emailed back and said they wouldn't have space but would reach out when they did. It's been a year and they've never contacted me. Not that I would send my children here anyways, I'd prefer a daycare I can actually get in touch with if needed... Update: It appears the owner responds via Yelp much faster than their email. And also, even though they didn't officially confirm our spot during the tour, they gave no indication there would be an issue with the approximate start time we were desiring. We were not the only family we know of that tried to contact them for weeks and got no response.

It has taken me about four years to write this review. I…read morehave a son who is quite challenging medically and behaviorally. My lack of consistent parenting role models left me feeling alone and uncertain at times. Sometmes I felt like a failure, other times I just felt lost. All I knew was that my fantasy of how I would parent was nothing like the day to day reality. To be fair lfe was stressful back then to this single parent. And when it seemed the dust had settled enough for me to consider my needs and not just deal with crisis and survival i reached out for guidance. Ms. Zentner came recommended via a Google group for mental health professionals as someone good with parenting issues and kids. Perhaps she is. I wouldn't know. She spent one meeting with me-an introductory assessment, one with my son and I (another assessment), And I think one more after this perhaps discussing her assessment. I wasn't blown away in a positive manner, I thought her conclusions and observations were rather elementary but I was willing to give it time. After all it took years for me to commit, so I certaily wasn't going to let myself quit prematurely. However I was disturbed by her persistent yawning throughout our few meetings. I tried to rationalize it, be a big girl and not personalize it. A bit of a challenge for someone already feeling inadequate and inept. I had to reschedule our fourth appt. I gave PLENTY of notice. Well over two weeks. She said she would call me back because the date I had available didn't work for her. And I never heard from her again. I may have called once after but maybe not. It was the holidays. I made excuses for her and thought I would give it a bit more time. As the weeks passed the clarity of my disappointment and discomfort was impossible to ignore and I decided it was best to just not return. We were clearly a poor match. I suspect she isn't a terrible counselor but I am not convinced she is a clinically astute therapist. Yawning without any recognition of the impression it gives is rather obtuse in my opinion. I was and remain a bit raw deep down about my parenting fears and disappointments. However I also have a ton of strengths and skills to fall back on. Yet if this situation struck such a chord with me I would hate to imagine its' impact on someone even more distressed/vulnerable than I had been at that time. She is probably not a bad counselor and with the increased emphasis these past two decades on short term cognitive techniques (over more in depth psychodynamic skills) she probably does okay. However I doubt I would ever recommend her to someone I cared for or whom I believed to be in need of good emotional support.

She is prompt, communicative, and extremely non-judgmental in making sure her recommendations work with our family culture, values, and beliefs (even though I suspect she doesn't share them). In response to the other reviewer, in two years of regular sessions I don't recall a single yawn (or unreturned phone call). In short, I feel 1000x more equipped as a parent with her in my corner. EDIT: She often runs 10-15 minutes behind schedule, but I understand this given the amount of attention she gives to her clients. I have always received my full 55 minutes of attention.

I LOVE the teachers, the small classroom size, the nurturing of my children. I really can't say anything negative. I'd say the only thing I missed, which could just be me, but the parents don't interact at all with other parents. Now maybe it's because I didn't go to that church or live in that neighborhood but they just had no more than 2 sentences to say to me. If you choose this preschool then you are going to feel lucky you found it and got your children in - for reals!!

When they were interviewed the statement was made by three teachers, including the owner, that they all saw the child get up from her nap (at 6pm???) by pushing herself up with both arms. I am a mother and a grandmother who has spent a great deal of time around children and watched them sleep as well as wake them up. I have never taken notice of whether they sat up by pushing up with one arm, two arms, rolling over or some other way. For three teachers to lie about this is just appalling to me. Since there were three of them lying, they were released of any suspicion by CPS. CPS has a lot of problems so this just adds to the mess. Being a relative of this precious one year old, I know for a fact that this occurred at the daycare. I don't think it was done intentionally but never the less it happened by yanking or jerking this poor baby. To not take accountability for your actions is inexcusable and irresponsible. The owner should have done a thorough investigation herself and found out what happened. Instead they decided to get their stories straight and all lied to the CPS investigator. I know that you don't want to admit anything like this could happen at your place of business, but the fact is that it did happen. The child got through the trauma of it all and the mother was released of all suspicion but Serendipity Learning Center should be ashamed of covering this up and not trying their hardest to get to the bottom of it before it happens to another child.

They've responded exceptionally well to the COVID19 situation and have been handling it incredibly well. Organized, efficient, and with a sense of community. We cannot say enough great things about this daycare. It's a tight-knit group of kids, and you feel the warm, nurturing, and supportive environment the moment you walk in. Our daughter is very outgoing, happy-go-lucky and well-rounded thanks in large part to the staff and upbringing she has experienced at My Friend's House. The classroom sizes are small enough where the teachers get to know the kids well and do a great job keeping an eye on them. There are activities each month, age-appropriate curriculum to help support them and the hours are great. The school is part of the campus of the church, and it is a very welcoming environment for everyone of all faiths and beliefs. A warm, welcoming environment. They also offer extra-curricular activities that should start back up once things settle with COVID. My daughter (who is 20 months at the time of this review) has been at MFH since she was three…read moremonths old. The Good: - The teachers have a genuine love for the kids and really nurture them. I see it in every teacher who has watched over my daughter, and for me, that kind of genuine affection was the deciding factor when I did my (exhaustive) childcare search. - I find a non-profit childcare setting to be a more positive, personal experience as compared with the for-profit centers I toured. - The majority of the teachers have been at the center for years -- many have put their own children through MFH. They're treated well by the administration and repay it with loyalty. The only comings and goings my daughter has experienced have been due to chronic illnesses or someone moving away to be closer to family. - The typical ratios are actually a bit lower than the state mandate, and the center is diligent about maintaining them. - There's a strong sense of community. There is a fall festival, class parties for major holidays, and the kids get little events like a pony rides and fire truck visits there at the church which they really enjoy. There are school-wide work days where parents and teachers alike pitch in to spruce up the center, and it feels good to be a part of that kind of cooperation. The Not So Good: - The administration is terrible at communication. If you want to know something, you have to bug them repeatedly and proactively seek information. Twice now my daughter has been bumped up to the next age group classroom and I was lucky to get a week's notice that it was happening. Not cool. Likewise, I have had several times that I've had to get personal contact information for my child's caretakers because the administration wasn't bothering to tell them what was going on when I called in sick. - The menu could be greatly improved from a nutrition perspective. Granted, I'm a bit of a nut on that point, and technically their food program meets federal nutritional guidelines. But the canned veggies and fruits and the pervasive eggos/french toast sticks/hot dogs/quesadillas bug me. I feel that the "give 'em what they'll eat" approach has really hampered my efforts at home to expose the munchkin to a wider variety of foods. They also basically require the kids to be on the meal plan, and there's not a storage option for bringing your own food. I had to get a DOCTOR'S NOTE just to request that my daughter not be served juice. It's quite silly. Overall, I'd recommend MFH. I've been happy with my experience there despite the occasional frustrations!

And she had been a bit snippy with me about her price and weather i really care if my kid has the best education. I got an email from this lady at 5:33am saying "hello, call me". I replayed back thank you but we have chosen another route. You would think that would be the end...not with this lady. She has now called 3 times today. I emailed her once again saying my child was enrolled somewhere else and to please not call me anymore. I blocked her email...4 hours later i get 2 calls in a row, i had to also block her phone number so i can work. I am scared for what these child have to deal with every day. Im avoiding this one like the plague!

My daughter started at Loving Learning Preschool with Ms. Reema in October. She has absolutely…read morethrived there. I am amazed every single day at what she has learned. In that short time she has learned her ABC's, counts to 30, knows months of the year and days of the week, can sing almost any song you ask her to, can do 24+ piece puzzles, and the list goes on and on. She just turned 3 and is one of the younger children, which I think is great for her development and social skills. She was at a larger preschool prior to this, which I now realize was play based and not lesson/learning based like Loving Learning Preschool. I feel so lucky to have found Ms. Reema and her wonderful little school. I highly recommend her and look forward to having my daughter there until kindergarten, and enrolling my son when he is old enough.
