New to the Philly area, I needed advice on what solar installer to contract with. I met with Meenal…read moreRavel, an advocate and educator with a group called Solarize Southeast PA. Among other services, they vet solar installers each year and Exact Solar was consistently one of the best. I was already aware of Exact Solar because they are listed in several national industry groups. Contracting with Exact Solar seemed a logical choice for installing a 30 panel, 9.9 kWp system on our garage roof. I reviewed my emails with Exact Solar co-owners Mark and Dara, over the months during the lead-up to the 2019 installation, and saw a long list of my questions and their answers. They always responded to my many questions promptly and accurately. Dara put together estimates of the system's output, the point at which the system would pay for its own installation (11 years). Any questions I had that had to do with system performance or the National Electrical Code went to Mark or to Vlad, a master electrician who designs each of the systems and is operations manager. Installation of a solar array is an impressive series of steps. Early on, Jackson, a technician, came out with a device to measure sun and shade on the garage roof. He determined that a black walnut tree would interfere substantially with system performance. After I had the tree removed Jackson came back and re-measured the surroundings for a go-ahead. Jackson showed me how his instruments can infer the extent of sunlight every day of the year based on a single day's several measurements. His measurements provide the basis of Dara's long-term cost and payback estimates. Exact Solar presently has two installer teams, both reporting to Vlad. My sense is that management and the installers respect each other and work well together. My team was headed by Nick who is also outstanding to work with. He, along with Jeremy, a crew member, always "did the right thing". Like running a very long power cable from my detached garage to the house. Running a very long cable means fewer wire-nut connections, and less chance of failure over time. But it's cheaper and easier to link together shorter, leftover lengths of cable. When they were installing exterior conduit, Nick would confer with me where to put them so they'd be less noticeable. If Nick had any question about the system's design, he'd call Vlad without hesitation. Vlad is a natural teacher, soft spoken, thoughtful and expert. Exact Solar has a culture of safety. Much of the time crews are on roofs and ladders, inherently dangerous places to work, and keeping workers safe is where everything starts at Exact Solar. The crew worked carefully, methodically, and cooperatively, without rushing. For Mark, Dara, Jackson, Vlad, Nick and Jeremy, bringing solar power to our communities is a passion, a mission in life, and a commitment to a viable future and not simply a business. If I had a chance to do this install over again, I would not change a thing. The system works perfectly, the design was correct, and the install was skilled and careful and oddly enough, it's fun to monitor it. I feel I have, with Exact Solar's help, contributed to the sustainability of our community.

From a quick glance of the yard, they have up to 8" cast iron and everything below... they are the real deal. These guys get an A for Authenticity... Today is not a good morning to start as it was raining and being so cloudy. But I was so blessed to meet up with Michael this morning. I have an old house in Northeast area. The water bill was so high in the past few months, I made a dispute with water revenue, but they said the water reading was correct and up to date, nothing wrong with the meter. I got freak out because the bill just becomes higher and higher after months. I called My plumber two days ago, and Mike returned my call in just about an hour, which was very fast, and not a lot of business is still doing so at these days. He was patience to listen my whole story and asked me few diagnosis questions to identify the problem. I scheduled the appointment this morning and he came promptly on time, no late at all, which made me think that My Plumber is serious with their business. Bernie & Mike were a great team! Thanks so much to both of them for their help. They came right away, worked hard, fixed a whole series of issues and kept everything as cost-effective as possible. I couldn't have asked for more. Here's my story -- late at night, I discovered that the shower faucet in one of my bathrooms was leaking unbelievably and the water was running through the ceiling to the floor below in my house. I called the My Plumber PA main number & Bernie called me back immediately from his cell. When they went into the wall behind the bathtub, they discovered several things that needed to be fixed because the base of the faucet (if that's even what it's called) had deteriorating components. They had to cut a hole into my wall to fix everything, but they figured out how to fix the hole by adding a larger removable panel (in case problems arose again) so I wouldn't have to hire someone else to plaster the hole after they were done their work. Michael and Bernie are THE BEST. I've had them to my house various times (broken toilet, sink issues, and something I can't remember in the basement). First, they are reliable. They show up, call you back, answer the phone. Second, they know what they are doing (I have an old quirky house that isn't the easiest to work with and they figure it out every time). He had me text him a picture of issue and then walked me through how to fix it, what to buy and where to go. Saving me a lot of money and giving great instruction. They were so great the first time (water heater in March, 2020), I called them again for a gas plumbing issue (non-emergency) and an outside spigot I could not get apart to change the washer. Came out a coupld days after I called, took care of both issues. They took exceptional care with the plumbing tangle around the gas meter, leak testing ALL the joints, not just what they disturbed or renewed. Price both times was very much in line with the value of their great work. For any future work, My Plumber is exactly that. read more

Water heater went out (leak which extinguished the pilot light). I called late on a Monday morning. The owner and an experienced assistant showed up the next morning with a new heater, same brand, size, and capacity as the old one. He corrected the way the gas shutoff to the heater had been installed, and used cinder blocks I had to redo the support for the heater (had been a heap of bricks and dirt). All done before noon, with the site left clean. Great job, decent price. Will hire again when needed. read more

My Plumber came out to my house a month ago. I had a stopped up drain in my house which was backing up in my basement. I called another plumber and they charged me $125 to unclog the drain. A week later, it clogged up again. I called My Plumber. He unclogged it temporarily and gave me the long-term solution which was to dig up the pipe and replace it. I had a frustrating and disappointing experience with Plumbing Pals that I want to share so others…read moredon't go through the same. I called them about a kitchen sink issue where water was draining slowly, and pipe is leaked or cracked under the sink. I clearly mentioned both issues during the call. They told me there would be a $78 diagnostic/service fee, which would be credited toward the final repair cost if I chose to go ahead with the work. That seemed fair, so I agreed. The technician who came out did not do any repair work. He looked at the issue and told me he only handles drain cleaning, not pipe replacement and that a different plumber would need to come for that. He also said if he attempted to unclog the drain, it would worsen the leak and the sink still couldn't be used. After he left, my card was charged $78. Shortly after, I received a quote of $475 to unclog and replace the P-trap (drain pipe). Even though it seemed high, I approved it. I also downloaded a $50 coupon from their website, as they suggested. Once the work was completed by a plumber the next day, I asked to confirm that the $78 would be credited toward the $475, along with the coupon. He said only the coupon would apply, and the $78 would not be refunded or included, even though that fee was supposed to cover diagnostics, and this job was a direct result of it. I called Plumbing Pals for clarification, and they sent me a recording of my initial call as "proof" that I only requested drain cleaning. Ironically, that very recording clearly shows I said there was a leak or crack in the pipe that might need replacement, which confirms I was upfront from the beginning. It's obvious they either didn't listen or chose to ignore what I said. When I tried to escalate the matter, I was connected with a supervisor named April, who was extremely rude and dismissive. She insisted that the $78 would not be refunded or credited and told me if I wasn't happy, I "didn't need to do business with them again." As a customer, I'm not a plumber, I rely on professionals to diagnose the issue (which is why they charge the service fee in the first place), communicate honestly, and apply the service fee toward the repair as advertised. This company failed on all fronts. In short, this was a misleading, overpriced, and unprofessional experience. I regret using Plumbing Pals and strongly suggest others look elsewhere for honest and respectful plumbing service.

We are very happy to have found ourselves a new plumber! Now for the best part: my wife is transgender and if I'm not home, home service can be frightening and fraught. You never know what someone will do when confronted with a trans person. Kevin and crew were respectful and kind, didn't try to price gouge, and were friendly! I just can't say enough good about Kevin and VinKo plumbing.

I am extremely disappointed with my experience with Goodman Plumbing. After having a great first…read moreexperience with them, I hired them again because I trusted them. Unfortunately, this second experience was the complete opposite. The original agreement was for Goodman Plumbing to dig down to the curb stop, shut the water off to my home, install a new water box, replace the pipes inside my home, and install a new shut-off valve. After realizing they could not dig into the street to perform additional work that would have cost me thousands more, they changed course and went against the terms of the original contract. Instead of honoring the agreement. Communication was terrible. I waited over a month with little to no updates while my pipes continued leaking. I had to repeatedly contact Goodman Plumbing just to find out what was going on. When they finally came out, they dug a hole and then refused to continue the job, claiming the pipe contained lead. Throughout the visit, the technician was on the phone with someone from the company. However, a Philadelphia Water Department inspector confirmed that my service line was not leaking, and records from the PWD Lead Service Line Map showed my address as non-lead. Despite this, Goodman Plumbing refused to accept the inspector's findings or move forward with the original work. To make matters worse, they broke the tip of my curb key and never told me. Inspector informed me the water can no longer be shut off due to tip was broken off. Goodman plumbing company refused to repair it, refused to restore the area with cement as required by the contract, and left an open hole in the public right-of-way with only caution tape around it. This created an unsafe hazard outside my home. They also never completed the plumbing work inside my house that they were hired to perform, yet still expected to be paid. When I asked them to take responsibility for the damage they caused, I was told it was my responsibility because my home is older. They refused to provide their damage liability insurance information and repeatedly shifted the blame instead of taking accountability. I was also pressured to make a decision within one day and received repeated phone calls the next day pushing me to spend thousands more. Rather than work toward a solution, I felt pressured and dismissed. I was told repeatedly by workers, and Manager Nick they will not fix or place cement over hole as it is now my responsibility, yet this was a part of the contract. The most disappointing part was being told by Manager Nick to never contact Goodman Plumbing again for any future services. As a customer who trusted this company enough to hire them a second time, I found that response completely unprofessional. I regret giving Goodman Plumbing my business again. Instead of standing behind their work, they failed to honor the contract, damaged my property, refused to repair the damage they caused, left my property in an unsafe condition, and walked away from the job without completing the work they were hired to do. If you're considering Goodman Plumbing, I strongly encourage you to carefully review reconsider or if any digging is needed to follow-up with PWD have them inspect first. My experience was stressful, frustrating, and one I would never want another homeowner to go through. Now my home is left with unsafe, hazardous unpaved hole left with dirt they placed over with caution tape and sticks holding caution tape.
