I really liked this hotel overall, although, they could use some non-slip surfacing in their tubs as I slipped and fell out of the shower. I had to grab hold of the shower curtain to avoid being severely injured/catch my fall. My foot and ankle were badly bruised for the rest of the trip home, which was across several states. Thank God nothing was broken, but some safer surfacing at the base of the tub would have been an easy fix, and would have prevented this. read more

An extended stay hotel that offers a reasonable daily rate clean & comfortable room + safe accommodations for those traveling through Sioux Falls. I originally was planning to stay at the Microtel across the street in order to rack up points, yet my gut told me to stay at My Place and pay the $80 for one night. I was certainly not disappointed. The S. Carolyn Avenue area is pretty much 38th street, meaning that you can drive three blocks to 41st street and access I-29 North or South within minutes. For those unfamiliar with this area, that means that you can travel the major interstate either to Omaha, NE (I-29 south), or Fargo, ND (I-29 north) fairly quickly. While you may see cars traveling along I-29 from the side of the hotel, it was hard for me to hear the traffic from my window. The room itself met expectations for a new extended stay hotel: comfortable bed, kitchenette, reasonable sized table/desk area, and leather chair. Please note that you'll have to use the dining room table as your desk, since there isn't a desk available for work purposes. Overall, the room was spacious and comfortable for my needs. There isn't a continental breakfast here, yet there is "breakfast" available. You can pre-purchase a breakfast package for $4.49, which consists of a fruit, drink, and microwavable biscuit sandwich. This package is solely for those that are on the go. I thought that this was a bit laughable, yet I went along with it, being that I fit into the category of being on the go to my next destination. I didn't see any other amenities such as a gym or pool on this property, and the Internet is one where you will have to ask the front desk for an Ethernet cord. At first, I thought "an Ethernet cord in 2016? Why?" Yet after trying it (at no additional cost), I found the upload and download speeds to be quite good. I'll certainly be back. I have been on the road for two weeks and this is by far the most comfortable hotel I have stayed in. I stayed here for three nights with my three other co workers. We loved it. Comfortable beds, kitchenette and recliner made our stay enjoyable. Super clean rooms were a major plus. I didn't hear much noise other than the freeway, and that wasn't bad at all. Desk personnel were friendly and courteous. Lots of restaurants, bars and shopping within walking distance. There is a refrigerator/freezer that makes ice and a full size coffee pot in each room. There isn't any utensils or plates/bowls in the rooms. Stay here! read more

Ghetto trash hole! Checked in after a 16 hour drive got into our room and 30 mins later a party started up in the next couple rooms. People screaming hanging outside doing who knows what. 3:30 am zero sleep we ask for a refund and left. The guy at the counter tells us we are in a bad part of town and refund us. Now we are driving at 4 am no place to stay heading back to Montana unfucking real. read more

Location was convenient for us. Okay for the price. Outside is very appealing--clean and modern. Beds were comfortable, firm but not too firm. Our room had an (almost full sized) fridge, microwave, toaster, coffee pot, and counter top stove. Carpet was soft. The elevator floor was dirty and it had noticeable 'clunky' noises to it. The hallways needed picking up. Noise seems to echo down the hall. The cupboards were completely empty of utensils and dinnerware to use on the stove. The toilet had a broken bracket on the seat. The tub drain was finicky; wouldn't stay up. Our shower had some small hair on the upper part of the wall...I could tell it was wiped down but the hair was obviously missed. I was pleasantly surprised with this hotel and will stay with that chain the next chance I get. Rooms are on par with Holiday Inn or Best Western, but better prices. Rather than a mini fridge and tiny microwave, you get a full kitchenette. You can even have breakfast delivered. I loved the store - it was quite handy. We had a doll beheading incident and I was able to buy a metal butter knife from the little store. Solved that problem, and came in handy numerous times as we continued across the country. They also had toiletries, microwaveable meals, and frozen food. Our kids like Kraft mac & cheese so it was really helpful to have the microwaveable bowls right there. I was concerned about noise from the freeway since it's *right* next to it, but we didn't hear a thing. No noise from outside or other rooms. There was a blind on the window rather than curtains, but it completely blocked out the light. The lines were crisp and fresh. The pillows were comfortable, and the service was fantastic. I highly recommend this hotel. read more

Absolute worst lodging experience in recent memory! Our stay was pre-paid more than a month in advance, yet the front desk staff member, Jonah, insisted a card must be on file for incidentals in order for him to check me in to my room. Then when I finally consented, my credit card account was hit THREE TIMES with pre-authorization charges amounting to more nearly $1,000! This left me begging a friend for help to pay for food and fuel. My wife and I had no choice but to return home early from our weekend getaway, and of course, the hotel refused ANY refund of any kind. On to the actual room itself. The recliner is a joke -- I've never sat in a more tattered and flat recliner in all of my life. While the room includes a stove-top, you either need to bring your own cookware or conveniently purchase cookware from the hotel store. The advertisements were VERY misleading in this respect! The room had a chemical-like smell that made me feel nauseous. During the second day of our stay, I attempted to call the front desk to request a plunger for the toilet but the phone didn't work -- just silence, no dial-tone. I requested the toilet be plunged in-person as we were stepping out for a bit to get away from the chemical smell. We returned 3-1/2 hours later to find the room now ALSO wreaked from the plugged toilet, which hadn't been touched. I requested a plunger at the front desk a second time and the front desk staff (Jonah) appeared to panic and immediately came to our room with the plunger and unplugged the toilet -- BUT left a mess for us to deal with. This is a TERRIBLE lodging establishment. Steer clear! read more

Clean, newer pet-friendly extended stay hotel with friendly staff made our stay comfortable. Note: No free breakfasts, no workout room, no pool. They do have a snack area where you can buy prepackaged foods, an elevator and working air conditioners. Traveling with a pet has it's trials and tribulations and finding a pet-friendly hotel is one of them. Most of them tend to be on the run down side but that is not the case with the My Place Hotel in Sioux Falls, SD. I found the My Place Hotel in Sioux Falls via Tripadvisor. Having never heard of the "My Place" hotel chain, I didn't know what to expect but it did have good reviews and the pictures looked good--the pictures did not lie. This hotel opened in 2014 and still looks brand new. Our bed was very comfortable and the room amenities were like new. Even the carpet still looked new. Being so close to the freeway, I was a bit leary about highway noise and the potential for car burglaries but the parking lot was well lit--a deterrent. The receptionist told me that they had never had any parking lot problems yet. There is a grassy area behind the hotel for dogs to relieve themselves. They even have poop bags and a trash can there for your convenience. For a 2-3 star hotel, I rate this as a 4 1/2 - 5. The things that I thought could be improved have to do with the kitchenette. You see, they advertise it as a kitchenette but unless you are carrying your own pots and utensils, you have to buy them. Yes, they sell them at the reception desk but I think that is ridiculous. That's like selling a car without wheels. To drive it, you have to buy the tires. I have stayed at hundreds of extended stay hotels with kitchenettes and this is the first one that had no supplies. Kitchenette rooms should have a saucepan, a skillet, some cooking/eating utensils and 2-4 plates (depending on the room's occupancy size) and glasses. They also should have kitchen washcloths. I ended up using bath towels. Aside from the kitchenette issues, the hotel was great. When we come back to Sioux Falls, I plan to stay here. read more

Worst stay I have ever experienced. The general manager, Katie Seitz, was rude and cussed at us upon checking in. She was yelling and talking down to the employees as well. She out us in a dirty room and refused to put us in a clean one. She was so rude to us that my daughter was scared. She is nasty. She was also smoking right outside the door and all you could smell when you walked into the lobby was smoke. We seen 2 cockroaches while we were there as well. GROSS! Although this was advertised as an extended stay type of hotel it was terrific for our overnight visit on July 4th. they put us on the side of the hotel third floor for the we could actually see the fireworks at our window. I'm assuming all the other room for like ours: they had a mini kitchen, refrigerator, everything you need for a longer type of stay. You could even purchase food that you could cook down in the lobby. It appears that this is a new kind of a hotel chain and that they're going to be all over the country soon. No breakfast or pool but really who cares we had the military rate which is only $69 for the night best with super comfortable big flat screen TV very nice place to stay. read more

My best friend and I moved from California to Sioux Falls about a month ago. We needed an extended stay hotel while we looked for a permanent residence, and we stayed here for 2 weeks. And WOW, I cannot even begin to explain how happy I was with this business. The main thing was that it really did not have anything we DIDN'T need in the room. Kitchenette was great, fridge was great, beds were very comfortable, the bathroom was wonderful. I can't even pinpoint anything I didn't like. The staff didn't bother us very often - they respected our desire for privacy. For safety, they had to come into our room every 7 days to inspect and light cleaning. Other than that we were left alone, and I appreciate that so much. I would recommend this Extended Stay for anyone that needs it for that purpose in the area. Well priced with a great staff. Very clean & we got a deal using TripAdvisor so it was even better. We were only passing through Sioux Falls, but all the amenities in the room were unexpected. Beds were very comfy! There was also a brand new tv & most importantly, free wi-fi & plenty of outlets for all of the charging we needed to do overnight. The bathroom was also huge & had plenty of railings & such for those that need them, a hair dryer & a very tall shower. Tall people need not crouch under the spout. I didn't get the refrigerator in the picture, but there's a full size one & a toaster in one of the cabinets. If you forget your shampoo, conditioner, soap, dish soap, they have some travel sizes in the room. You can control the temp in your room too. No free breakfast, but the Fry'n Pan is right down the street or you can spend $4.49 per person for breakfast to your door here. Anyhow, great place! We were very happy even if we didn't use everything! read more
