Finding Dr. Zavarro at Healthy Petz was wonderful, but then it wasn't. I had to have my 200+ lbs English Mastiff seen. The vet seeing him was a smaller woman, and she had a vet tech in with her. Now, the clinic had been told on occasions in the past that my dog does not like feeling pinned down, but I can safely assume poor notes were taken. I was holding him steady from one side, and the vet was examining him from the other side when the vet tech decided to climb on his haunches. Needless to say, he snapped at the vet, who was closest to his face. There was no injury, but I find out today that the notes about the incident say that he lunged at her neck and the trigger was "unknown." Thus, she won't see him anymore. This was some time ago, and he's been seen there since. However, he was recently attacked by another dog, and he had injuries that needed medical attention. I knew he would need sedation, and explained that when I made the appointment. When I took him to drop him off today, I was asked to put a muzzle on him before leaving. I reluctantly agreed, only to find out that they don't have any muzzles that will fit him. I wasn't even certain what the muzzle was for, as this had never been necessary, even after the "incident." They told me that I could go buy one and bring him back. I explained that I wasn't buying a muzzle for a dog that didn't need one, and I asked if I needed to find a new vet. They said I did not, but still had no solution. The vet (not the same one from before) would not even allow me to bring my dog close enough for her to see the injury; I wasn't even allowed on her side of the room and had to maintain control of his leash at all times. She was terrified. I explained that this entire scenario was ridiculous, and that if all of this had changed, and this was now a necessity, they should have informed me over the phone when I made the appointment, and they could have informed me that they did not have the necessary equipment to treat my dog. The vet then claimed it wasn't her fault, as this was only the third dog over 200 lbs that she had ever seen. I explained to her that her lack of experience with these dogs did not excuse her lack of equipment. And if the lack of familiarity with the breed was a problem, then she could have looked at his records beforehand and recused herself. My entire world was turned upside down this morning, and I'm trying to find a good vet again that can treat my dog's injuries ASAP. But, I will NEVER go back to this place, and I would do my absolute best to steer you away as well.

My dog just needed her ears looked at because she had been on ear meds from my original vet and I needed her teeth and my other dogs teeth just looked at to set up a dental appointment. I was charged 68 per dog just for that. The dental appointments were going to be 800+ for one 500+ for the other one was estimated for a few extractions the other was just a basic cleaning. Needless to say I'm going to drive 2hrs to go to my vets office instead because it will be 200 instead. If you have the money go here but I don't. My dogs are only 7-9 lbs btw

Over the weekend he broke his leg and we had taken him to the emergency vet in Cool Springs with instructions to take him Monday morning to our vet to discuss surgery. They scheduled the surgery for Wednesday and told us it would be $5,500. We found another vet that could get him in on Tuesday and was only going to charge $1,500 and neuter him at the same time so we didn't have to put him under more than necessary. We called to let them know we had found a place to do it sooner (since our puppy was in pain) and for $4,000 less. They then told me it would be $750 to cancel (it was more than 24 hours notice). I told the receptionist that I would have paid $50 like normal doctor's offices charge, but that i would not be paying $750 since I didn't sign anything. She asked me to hold for the manager, left me on hold for over 5 minutes, so i hung up and thought she could call me back since she was apparently busy. Never heard anything else from them until I got a letter in the mail saying they would no longer see our dog as a patient. Not only were they unprofessional and never called back to discuss, they are trying to rip people off on over priced surgeries and cancellation fees. They knew they had zero chance of getting the cancelation fee since i had never signed anything and were probably embarrassed that they had tried ripping us off so bad. After reading other reviews of their surgery practices, all I can say is Thank God we didn't have his surgery there. Also, strongly recommend Chapel Hill Veterinary Clinic for kind, compassionate, affordable care from people who truly care about animals and not screwing pet owners out of money.

We were pleased with the technician and Dr. Adams' work with Alex. We were not rushed through the appointment and Dr. Adams answered all our questions. The appointment was yesterday and the shot Alex received will take a few days to be effective but my wife and I decided that All Pets Health Center will be where we take our cats in the future.

Shortly after sedation began, I received a call saying the procedure had been aborted because Molly had become tachycardic and that a "new to her" heart murmur had been discovered. I was told they were actively trying to stabilize her. As you can imagine, I was terrified. What made this situation even more upsetting was that her heart murmur was not new information. It is clearly documented in Dr. Bakker's own exam notes from 11/2025, where she both acknowledged the murmur and graded it a 2. Despite this, I was told that neither she nor Dr. Clay had been informed or heard it--contradicting her own records. During this emergency, I was also accused of refusing necessary bloodwork due to cost. This is simply untrue. I questioned the need to repeat an entire senior panel only six months after the last one, but I never refused care due to money. If the senior panel had been medically necessary, that should have been clearly explained. Instead, the clinic agreed to proceed with standard pre‑op labs, which later came back normal. I was further told that because she was marked DNR, and because I had "refused" the senior panel and "failed" to disclose the murmur, the outcome should be considered good. For clarity: I chose DNR only after asking whether CPR was as physically traumatic for dogs as it is for humans. I was told that it certainly can be, which influenced my decision. My girl is almost 9 years old and 10 pounds. I imagined broken ribs and how traumatic that might be for her. I later learned from a veterinary professional that this risk is extremely low for a dog of her size. I made the best decision I could with the information I was given. It was not that I wanted my dog to die, but I didn't want to hurt her trying to save her. She's not a puppy anymore. The overall handling of this situation was accusatory, and unprofessional. In a moment when my dog was in medical distress, the focus shifted to blaming me rather than providing clarity or compassion. I have had dogs my entire life and have never experienced care like this. Given the circumstances, I do not believe I should have been charged for the visit, although I paid the $200+ bill, and I strongly feel that an apology is warranted. Unfortunately, based on how this was handled, I do not expect one from Dr. Bakker. I hope this review encourages greater attention to communication, accuracy in medical records, and compassion toward pet owners who are already scared and vulnerable.

I love how communicative they are and how well they took care of our sweet boy while he was there. They also called the next day to check in on him and see how he was doing. We did an at home euthanasia, gave old Ellie her last big meal, then she she just quietly went to sleep after a painless injection. I snuggled her in her favorite blanket, on her favorite spot on the couch. She just went to sleep with me holding her. Snoring the whole way, total peace. Ellie had about the best life a dog could have, and I'm proud to say that we took her from the cradle to the grave, and we did it all in our own home, peacefully, with our own hands. Don't get me wrong, it sucks. But I felt good about the way we did it. So much better than leaving them on a steel table in a vet office. Dug her grave out back, Sara was kind enough to carry her limp body down the stairs for me after it was all over. I was a little emotional.
