Thankful for the blunt honesty I was given while here during a scary few hours with my older cat…read more It helped me make educated and selfless decisions for my sweet baby. This is what all vets need to be--give me the statistical rate of recovery so I can weigh it against the costs of care. Thank you for putting my sweet baby first.

Their staff is nice & courteous but the communication among the employees sucks. I was advised on Sunday April 19 that I would need to go to Blue Pearl at Brentwood, not the Nashville location, not NVMS but Blue Pearl in Brentwood. I needed someone on Sunday but I was told that no one was on call or available. We could bring him up there & they would hospitalize him until Monday morning 7 hopefully a neurologist would be able to see him Monday. I did not choose that option but I was informed that if I was bringing him Monday then I would need to be there by 5AM to admit him through the ER & then he would be transferred to Neurology. So I get up and leave my house before 3AM & drive 127 miles to Brentwood location. He is assessed & is sitting in the kennel for 2 hours before I get a call letting me know that the MRI machine is down & they do not know if it is going to be fixed that day or what time & do not know if they will be able to do the MRI on him that day or not but time is of the essence once they have lost deep pain in their legs which I was told had already happened. So we call around & find out that Murray, KY vet has a CT machine & they can do the scan & see if it will pick up his damage & then head to Paris for the vet that had recently retired from Mineral Wells clinic recently who had graciously agreed to do his surgery for us. He said my dog had not lost deep pain sensation like what was told to us by one of your vets. I wasted 7 hours of his time by going to your clinic & then having to fight Nashville traffic to get to Murray, KY which is about an hour or so from my house. Luckily, they think my dog will be able to walk again but he would probably be walking by now had we not driven all around Middle TN trying to get my dog assessed & wasting his time, our time & our gas. YOUR facilities need to work on your communication because the receptionist did not know the MRI was down, the person that checked us in did not mention an issue with the MRI & the vet did not mention it until we wasted 2 hours in Brentwood driving around killing time while waiting for a neurologist to come on duty. I don't know how you can call your clinic an emergency clinic when there is no one on call or on duty on the weekends & no one to call in to help save an animal on the weekend. Piss poor excuse for a vet clinic in my opinion. Rant over & don't worry, I will never step foot in your clinic ever again & I will let everyone know that if you have an emergency, you are screwed if you think they will get treated at Blue Pearl

My husband and I have trusted Dr. Paula and her staff with all of our dogs- all Westie/Cairn…read morerescues. Dr. Paula and her staff have gone above and beyond on endless occasions- from counseling us through seizures to navigating a heart murmur to managing kidney issues. I have leaned on Dr. Paula for her expertise, her compassion for our dogs, and her direct and honest assessments of our options. I have been to many vets in Los Angeles, New Orleans, Boulder, Denver, and now Franklin. From the moment I make an appointment to when I come in for regular visits to difficult end of life decisions, I have turned to Dr. Paula's office without reservation. The staff has always done a great job to get us appointments, especially when we have had emergency situations. Just before last Christmas our beloved Westie went into heart failure and Dr. Paula was there for us. We knew we were in the best hands possible, and she ensured we saw the best specialists immediately. Even while being evaluated by a cardiologist, Dr. Paula still checked in to make sure we felt supported and that we were comfortable with all of the decisions being made during an exceptionally difficult time. I look forward to having Dr. Paula and her staff continue to care for all of the fur babies my husband and I bring home.

WARNING: Disturbing Experience at Animal Ark Animal Hospital with Dr. Paula…read more Pet owners -- please think twice before trusting Dr. Paula at Animal Ark Animal Hospital with your beloved pets. I brought my 13-year-old, 7 lb Yorkie (Lana) in for a simple checkup. She only needed eye drops, and while her stool had been a bit loose, it was already improving. I mentioned this to Dr. Paula. During the visit, Dr. Paula used a fecal loop in front of me. I flinched because it made me uncomfortable, and she clearly noticed. But she did however collect some stool From her. She then took my dog "to the back" supposedly to check her eyes and do bloodwork. What she actually did was force a long fecal loop deep into my tiny dog's rectum -- without my consent. When she returned, she said, "I got more of a stool sample back there and got the whole thing up there. I didn't want to do it in front of you because I could tell it made you uncomfortable." I could not believe this. This woman is sick in the head. Lana later suffered GI bleeding and blood loss from this unnecessary, invasive procedure. I had to spend $1,800 on emergency X-rays, bloodwork, and an ultrasound. Staff at the hospital admitted the fecal loop could have caused it. Dr. Paula's demeanor was rude, cold, and condescending. She questioned me harshly about flea medication, ignored my concerns about Lana's sensitive stomach, and refused to review her medical history. Any compassionate vet would have cared enough to ask. But Paula doesn't have two brain cells to think about a pets medical history. She also tried to "educate" me about nutrition while pushing Royal Canin -- a by-product-based food (slaughterhouse waste) that no responsible vet should recommend as healthy. Her advice and methods are outdated and harmful. Sadly, I'm not alone. Many others describe the same unprofessional and careless behavior: Kelly M - "Dr. Paula is beyond rude. I left every appointment in tears. She bullied me when I couldn't afford surgery, saying, 'Well find it somehow, your dog needs it.' No compassion whatsoever." Gloria G- "We used Dr. Paula for our dogs. She was great until our senior dog had an ear infection. She gave us drops but never warned us he could go deaf. He did -- within three days. If she had told us, we would have chosen oral meds." Paula M- "I found her to be harsh and irritable with my 12-week-old, 1.5 lb puppy. When he flinched at a shot, she dropped the syringe and snapped, 'You can't bring him here if you don't teach him better.' I did not like her attitude or handling. I did not go back." These are a few of the many reviews that I got when I asked about Paula on other platforms. They show a clear pattern of negligence, poor communication, and lack of empathy. Animal Ark Animal Hospital and Dr. Paula must be held accountable for this breach of trust and harm to animals. Pet owners deserve honesty, compassion, and ethical care -- not dismissiveness, rough handling, and outdated practices. If you value your pet's safety, never allow anyone at this clinic to take your animal out of your sight. What happened to my dog should never happen to anyone else's.
