I find myself compelled to offer this commentary on my experience at Tahoe Forest Hospital because…read moreI have read some of the reports and cannot believe those people were at the same facility. I am a 94-year-old male adult who believed himself to be in reasonable health for his age. I was visiting family at Donner Lake when I found myself short of breath and the left arm swollen beyond normal. My son drove me to TFH. I entered the emergency room and was immediately seated at the in-take desk. There were two other patients seated in the ER waiting area. My information was recorded quickly and efficiently. I was seated in the waiting area for about 5 minutes before being called to go to the treatment area. The staff helped me get to bed in the ER and shortly I was examined by Dr. Amy Little. We described all my symptoms and she ordered tests. About 20 minutes later she returned and very comprehensively explained that I had problems more serious than I had thought. More exams were ordered and treatment was initiated. Dr. Nicolas Vargas performed a thoracentesis on my left lung cavity and removed 1.15 liters of fluid I did not know was there. This was done in the ER with no pain at all. Dr. Haven Ritchie recommended I be admitted for an overnight stay to make sure there would be no complications from the procedure. She also carefuly outlined other issues about which she had concern in terms that I could understand. By late afternoon I was transferred to a room on the second floor. I was received by Nurse Anne and made most comfortable. I remained in the hospital for another day and a half while they were making sure it was safe for me to travel by air to my home in Arizona. During this time, I was being cared for by Dr. David Richie and Dr. Ann Little. At no time was I left I the dark about my condition. Nurse Anne was extremely attentive and there was nothing I needed that she did not supply immediately. She was the day nurse. I received the same quality care from the night nurse, Amy. I must mention that the quality of the food was excellent. It was more than I could eat and the nurses were very good to me, they allowed me to leave food on my plate. By the third day they had me up and walking in the hall. I was deemed eligible for discharge. The discharge activity was conducted very efficiently. I would score this facility and the staff a 10 on a scale of 1-10. Thank you for allowing me to express my views on the excellent care I received. Douglas J. Halbert, Sr.

I ruptured the anterior tibial tendon in my left foot playing pickleball…read more Following an MRI, I saw Dr. Dodd on a Friday morning for a consult and he was confident in telling me that he could repair the tendon with surgery. He got me scheduled for surgery the following Tuesday (amazing, right?) and the surgery went extremely well. I suffered virtually no pain following the surgery. After a week on crutches in a splint, I went for a post-op appointment and had the stitches removed and transitioned into a weight-bearing boot. I will be four weeks in the boot then six weeks of PT before being able to get back to playing pickleball. I cannot say enough good things about Dr. Dodd, his PA Gil and the entire staff at Tahoe Forest Orthopedics and Tahoe Forest PT. Dr. Dodd was great in explaining the surgical procedure and clearly has fantastic surgical skills. The folks at Tahoe Forest PT were able to immediately get me scheduled for twice-weekly PT sessions immediately following my post-op meeting with Dr. Dodd. My appointment with Dr. Jeffrey Watson was extremely disappointing and, frankly, not what I…read moreexpected from a specialist consultation. I felt there was minimal engagement or effort to properly evaluate my symptoms. I was seeking assessment for issues that I believe are related to GERD or LPR, conditions typically within the scope of an ENT evaluation. Instead, my concerns did not feel meaningfully addressed or investigated. The only option offered was a terrible medication that once you stop taking it makes your symptoms worse, which I do not feel is an adequate or comprehensive solution for my situation, and no other treatment pathways or diagnostic alternatives were discussed. I left the appointment without clarity, direction, or any actionable plan. Overall, I found the visit unproductive and not a worthwhile use of my time. He's just a ENT plastic surgeon I believe, how I got referred to him is a complete mystery.

I always knew I was in the best hands. I got a Septoplasty, turbinate reduction, and rhinoplasty. I've never been able to breathe well out of my nose, so Dr. Watson walked me through every single option for me. Surgery ended up being the best option and I am so grateful I went through with it. I added on cosmetic rhinoplasty and Dr. Watson did a fantastic job with both the cosmetic portion and the structural portion and is extremely knowledgeable about the ins and outs of the nose. With how quickly I'm recovering, I can tell how meticulous, gentle and detail-oriented he was with my nose in the surgery. After just one week, all of my bruising and swelling is gone. I got my cast and splints off and out of my nose 5 days post-op and was immediately able to breathe. INSANE!! And already LOVING the shape. Dr. Watson knew exactly what I wanted without me even having to over-explain. Highly recommend going with him for surgery or any other services you are looking for.
