Above all, he was always honest with me even when the truth was at times difficult to hear. I also saw several other doctors within the clinic over the years, and every one of them was exceptional. I cannot say enough wonderful things about Hanabusa IVF and the incredible care I received there…read more After being told by a previous doctor that I had poor egg quality and would need to consider egg donation or adoption, my partner and I felt devastated; but we decided to seek a second opinion from Dr. Le Blanc. Dr. Le Blanc was my primary physician and Dr. Chang performed some of my procedures, as well. Both doctors were meticulous, thoughtful, and deeply committed to my care. Dr. Le Blanc identified several ways to improve our chances of success. Thanks to their expertise and the amazing team at Hanabusa, I am now the proud mother of a beautiful, healthy, and strong 4-month-old baby girl. We truly would not have been able to start our family without Hanabusa IVF. We are so grateful.

I thought I did a ton of research and since I was 39 with low egg reserve I saw some good reviews and thought Hanabusa was the place for me. It was not. I had 3 failed cycles with Dr. LeBlanc (1 egg retrieval, 2 cancelled cycles) and it wasn't until I switched clinics that I realized I was getting 'cookie cutter' Mini IVF at Hanabusa. Meaning they pretty much try the same thing on every patient. When my new Dr. looked at my blood work and egg count he said you need lower stim but you don't need Mini IVF. Dr. LeBlanc after 2 cancelled cycles told me my eggs just were not responding and I should do PRP. Another procedure that costs thousands of dollars. Also, after spending over 50K with them I asked for a phone call with the doctor and they wanted to charge me $200 to speak to Dr. LeBlanc. That's when I left and thank God I did. In fact, the only time anyone from Hanabusa ever called me was from the billing department for money. Also the staff at Hanabusa is not friendly but thats whatever. I found Dr. Wood and Gen5 literally right down the street. He came up with a plan for MY body based on MY numbers and we now have 3 healthy embryos on ice. No PRP. Just the right protocol for my body.

I'm writing this with a heavy heart, as after a year of working with Gen5 and having the clinic…read morehighly recommended by multiple families, I feel it's important to share my experience in hopes that it may help prevent another family from having a similar experience. I'll spare the smaller details and focus on the concerns that stood out most. First, I believe nurses should be mindful of how they respond to patients' test results and ultrasound findings. The week before our egg retrieval, we were told we had only a few follicles. While that information is important, the way it was communicated felt discouraging. IVF is about quality over quantity, and patients should be made to feel supported and hopeful, particularly during such an emotionally vulnerable process. The most difficult experience, however, was the day of our embryo transfer. This was our first time meeting Dr. Adams, and unfortunately, the interaction felt notably impersonal with zero enthusiasm. The day of a transfer should feel uplifting and hopeful, especially after everything a patient has gone through to get there. We were asked that morning to sign paperwork authorizing the disposal of embryos that would not be suitable for transfer. We found the timing of this particularly upsetting. That step could have been addressed days or weeks after what was such an important and emotional day for us. Additionally, from the beginning of our IVF process, we repeatedly and explicitly requested that the genders of our embryos not be disclosed to us. Unfortunately, the genders were not blacked out on our documentation, including the embryo being transferred that day. Discovering this unexpectedly on transfer day was extremely upsetting and could have been easily avoided had our wishes been properly documented and followed. Ultimately, these experiences have led us to decide that we will not be returning to Gen5, which is especially unfortunate because Dr. Wood is truly an exceptional physician and specialist. We found him to be thorough, knowledgeable, and one of the best aspects of our experience with the clinic.

I went through 8 failed IUIs, numerous canceled cycles, and 6 failed IVFs. I was told to give up, find an egg donor, or consider adoption. Fast forward 15 years. One day, while watching The Kardashians, I heard about this doctor and decided to reach out. I traveled from Los Angeles to San Diego to meet Dr. Wood at GEN5 Fertility. Fifteen years after my first diagnosis and now in my second marriage, at 40 years old, I am 8 1/2 weeks pregnant with my own egg!!!! I did a PRP treatments with Dr. Wood. The doctor's name is Samuel.
