Cute and small lesbian bar. The bartender was lively and did his best to spray air freshener to mask the B.O. smell from some of the patrons

Yes, it was much more fun when it was pitch black downstairs, but after a remodel several years ago with the addition of a basement bar it's still pretty fun and definitely this place means business. I mean okay, you can go to Open Cafe a few blocks away, or better still, start there, because let's face it -- that crowd is about as friendly as a stuck up French film, it's over-priced, and the pretty boy waiters are tabloid hairless/waxed/cute and their so-called service is painful at best. But having been to Open Cafe, when you have achieved a serious loss of pocket money and utter frustration, and finally Le Depot is open, you head there, a 5 minute walk, and you quickly realize that what you wanted was somebody to feel you up in a dark room for very little money, a club that let's you check your clothing at the door if you so desired, and lots of little rooms with holes in the walls for...well you can fill in the rest. Afterwards you return to your swank hotel, take a forgiving shower, jump into you down comforter bed for a night's rest, and the next morning snicker behind your sunglasses in the neighborhood patio cafe' about how naughty you were the night before. If Le Depot ever closes, I will probably not need to visit Paris again...

Walking down a dark alley at midnight in Paris is nothing like the movie...but it's worth it to…read morefind this little gem! Way cool place - and let me tell you why: First, this is an after hours club so you can't even get in until midnight at the earliest. That means you need staying power to party into the wee hours of the morning. The upstairs lounge is well lit, decorated with a few TV monitors and some seats that line the walls. When I arrived it was fun to converse with the bartender - really cool for Americans who like to booze it up. The BEST part is the downstairs catacombs. Not only are the walls dark brick and cold but they are totally old school with arched doorways! Then you throw in some colored lights, smoke machine and loud music and it's a party! I don't usually like gay bars that are too dark and loud but this one has great personality so I highly recommend it! There is a lot of space to move around and there are multiple bars and tables set up in the basement. It's easy to get lost in this crypt-like place but that's what makes it exciting! Lots of nooks to hide in and make out ;-) Also, I found the drinks to be decent but nothing great. C'mon - if it's already late you don't need the most delicious drink known to man, just something that will keep the buzz going and the beer goggles on. While a bit pricey this still is Paris so be prepared with lots of cash. I would for sure stop by this place again and enjoy the new people, fun basement and cool bartenders. Not to be missed! After all - two Richards can't be wrong.

This one was decidedly not. There were girthy men in front on the patio and quite a few at the bar. We were probably too dressed to fit in properly, but we were coming from a somewhat refined dinner at La Bourse et la Vie, so what could we do? The bearish bartender was friendly and openly admitted he didn't speak English. Neither of us speak French, so I tried to order a Tequila Sunrise with inappropriate gestures. I failed miserably because he made a couple of 8€ Tequilas over ice with a hint of Perrier (Photo 5). They packed a bit of a wallop, and since there was no room to fall down drunk on the premises, we leaned against a garbage can in the alley. Not a pretty sight, but the lid of the can made such a nice cocktail stand, a couple of bears joined us. I guess that's one way to make friends in Paris. This bar, however, is located a few blocks away around the corner on the quieter Rue Michel le Comte. A blue neon sign was the one beacon of identity as the bar was dimly lit with spotlights pointed at the local art on the walls (Photo 3). It was relatively early in the evening when we arrived, and just a couple of tables were occupied. A throaty older woman was sitting at the bar monopolizing the attention of the burly bartender. Jamie W was able to get us a couple of 10,50€ Tequila Sunrises which managed to have the level of sweet potency we desired (Photo 10). Sitting at the front window, we noticed business started to pick up and our seats were apparently hot commodities. The vibe was friendly enough for us to go for a second round. With the '80's synth music cranked up, we knew it was time to skedaddle, but we'd definitely come back. Jamie W and I were at the tail end of our shenanigans when we decided to steel ourselves for the claustrophobia that was about to occur. Under shiny disco balls and baby pink lights, the bar was full of enough hirsute men to spill out onto the sidewalk. Facial hair was not a requirement, but it certainly helped with their popularity quotient. It reminded us of the bear bars on Sitges' Street of Sin. Not knowing how to express any innuendo in French, Jamie and I were feeling rather coy, so we just ordered a couple of Diet Cokes since we met our alcohol quota at the previous bar.
