But as the evening went on, more people slowly wandered in and the atmosphere picked up. The drinks were fantastic: huge, strong, colorful, and dangerously fun. Exactly what you want from a tiki bar. The bartenders were incredibly sweet too. They answered all our questions, made recommendations based on what we actually like, and clearly knew their menu well. Always appreciate bartenders who don't just point randomly and say "this one." The decor and vibe were awesome -- dark, tropical, quirky, and full-on escapism. Felt like stepping into a hidden island bar in the middle of Paris. Only thing that threw us a little? The music. At several points it sounded less "tropical tiki escape" and more "waiting 45 minutes for Space Mountain at Disney World." Not bad exactly... just unexpectedly wholesome for drinks strong enough to make you text your high school friends at midnight. Overall though, we absolutely loved it and would 100% go back. Great drinks, great staff, fun atmosphere -- and honestly the weird Disney-adjacent soundtrack somehow became part of the charm.

But having been to Open Cafe, when you have achieved a serious loss of pocket money and utter frustration, and finally Le Depot is open, you head there, a 5 minute walk, and you quickly realize that what you wanted was somebody to feel you up in a dark room for very little money, a club that let's you check your clothing at the door if you so desired, and lots of little rooms with holes in the walls for...well you can fill in the rest. There is a lot of space to move around and there are multiple bars and tables set up in the basement. It's easy to get lost in this crypt-like place but that's what makes it exciting! C'mon - if it's already late you don't need the most delicious drink known to man, just something that will keep the buzz going and the beer goggles on.
