The hostess told our waiter about my concerns and he tried hard to give me info on what was most safe to eat. I ordered a burger without the bun, and they answered all my questions about the toppings. I didn't want potatoes so they gave me asparagus instead. The food was really good - the best yet that I've had on this road trip I'm taking across the U.S. My dad loved his burger too and keeps talking about it. If we were staying Watertown another night we would go back again for dinner. My only complaint is that they didn't ask me how I wanted my burger. I prefer medium rare to medium, but despite that the meat was good and still tender, so it was still very delicious! Thanks, everyone!

A foul ball that could've been a home run…read more Hy-Vee Market Grille is nice little restaurant/buffet inside of the Hy-Vee grocery store. My wife and I had to run some errands at the store and figured we could grab a bite to eat quick. We were seated by a window, fresh flowers on the table, waitress grabbed our drinks and we ordered. I had the Macaroni and Cheese Burger with sweet potato fries and my wife asked for a Chicken Caesar Salad with a dinner roll. The wait time for our food was acceptable, however when it arrived it was incomplete. The waitress dropped off my food, and handed my wife a dinner roll said, "your chicken dish will be out shortly". Shortly after that, the waitress brought, what looked like a side salad, no dressing, no chicken. On a chicken Caesar salad, I expected to the chicken on the salad, but we thought, "oh well, I guess it comes on the side". My meal was complete, so I decided to dig in. My meal was great. Burger was medium rare, open faced, topped with great mac & cheese. I highly recommend it. About 5 minutes or so late, the manager stopped by and asked us how our meal was. My wife asked about the chicken on the salad and instantly saw the problem and said she'd fix it. About 5 minutes after that, the manager came back with an an uncut chicken breast on a plate and told us that she'd comp the salad and apologized. I had finished my burger and it was time for us to start heading out, so my wife asked for a to-go box so she could just eat at work. The waitress who served us ignored us the rest of the time. No apology from her, though she did wish us a "nice day" as we left. Overall, kind of a weird experience. I think the meal would have been better if we would've had a different waitress.

This is hands down my new favorite restaurant in Brookings. I wish I could remember the name of the dish I ordered, because it was easily one of the best meals I've had in a long time. Absolutely 10 out of 10. Everything about it just hit right. Flavor, presentation, portion size, all of it. The waitstaff was incredible. Super helpful, knowledgeable, and just genuinely great to deal with. You can tell they know the menu and actually care about the experience. For the record, I have zero connection to the owners or staff. Nobody asked me to write this. They just earned a genuinely glowing review. The staff are not very friendly or attentive but that doesn't really bother me. Obviously it matters to a lot of people and this is where the new Four Seasons has a distinct advantage. My review might be clouded a bit by the fact this buffet carries Honey Chicken which is by far my favorite item. In any case you definitely want to go at 11AM for the freshest food as this place has a history of not having the warmers keep the food warm enough. For me it's good for the Honey Chicken. Others have obviously given this place lower reviews. It can be pretty hit or miss. I don't think Watertown has enough population to sustain two larger Chinese buffets so one of these, either this one or the Four Seasons, is likely to take the majority of the business at some point. It looks like it could be the later.... if I can get them to carry Orange or Honey Chicken on the buffet!
