My choice for accommodations was the rock Springs KOA Which was situated literally in the shadow of about 10 giant petroleum tanks or drive 25 minutes south into flaming gorge national recreation area. Well I chanced it and I'm glad I did. Spacious campsites with roomy covered picnic tables and inground fire pits. One of the two bathrooms was closed when I visited but that was not really much of an inconvenience. The showers were acceptable but certainly not super high end. Beautiful high desert area on the green river the views were incredible. So, these views, not another camper for 50 yards and the coyotes howling all night! I will definitely make a point to come back here.

There is a short walk down to the water from the campsite. We spotted mule deer. Of all the campsites we visited, this one was most notable for bugs...LOTS of flying bugs: both morning and night. Oh, where do I start? On June 1, 2021, my wife reserved 2 drift boats for July 7th. We later…read morecalled to change the reservation for 1 drift boat for July 8th, but we were never able to speak to a live person, so my wife left a voicemail. After a few days of not hearing back from Dutch John Resort, my wife called again and left another message. Long story short, my wife called a total of 5 times and no one ever returned her call. One person said someone would. Jump to July 8th. We arrived at the store to pick up our drift boat, what a nightmare. We contacted the young lady who was working in the fly fishing store, and she was truly a breath of fresh air (Ms. Martinez is her name). She went through our reservations and it turns out whoever was responsible for updating our reservation decided to just cancel it. Ms. Martinez handled our reservation as a walk in and was able to direct us to the general store where we were able to book a drift boat for the day. We paid for the rental and drove around to the back side of the store to retrieve our rental. No, it was not that easy. I handed my receipt to the gentleman and he told me to park near the trailers they have lined up near the parking lot, so that is what I did. After approximately 15 minutes, nothing is happening. I walked back over to the boat rental "shack" and the gentleman is telling me my ball hitch is to big ( mine is a 2 5/16 hitch, but I need a 2 inch ball hitch). As he is searching for a hitch, I hear him speaking with another employee asking where "P" is (I used his first initial so I don't embarrass "P"). He then tells the employee "P" is not supposed to be driving because he doesn't have a license, and he is gone, he is finished with "P" because he has told him before not to drive without a driver's license. After approximately an hour of waiting, he finds a ball hitch, hooks up my truck to the trailer and has me drive around to a covered outside fenced area. I did as he requested. I exited my vehicle and I saw the drift boat rental assigned to me. The boat was covered in dirt, there were beer cans and drink cans in the boat and water was still in the boat. He proceeds to use an empty Folgers coffee container to bale out the water, then I help him load it onto the trailer with 2 other employees. As my wife and I are driving out to were we are going to launch the boat, we start discussing the time we wasted waiting for the gentleman to find a tow hitch and prepping the boat. I decided to call Dutch John to see if I could return the boat a first thing in the morning due to the delay and due to the current time; it was approximately 1400 hours when we finally hit the road to the launch site. Oh yeah, the launch site was about an hour away, and the boat needed to be returned by 1900 hours; that simply was not going to happen. A young lady answered the phone and told us if we kept the boat past 1900 hours, we would incur a second days charge ($270.00). We said never mind, but called back 5 minutes later to rent the boat for a second day. Sounds easy enough, right? Nope. When I returned the boat on the 9th, a young man told me I was not getting my deposit back because I did not return the boat on the previous day. He told me "Dave" wanted to talk to me, so he went into the store to get Dave. A few minutes later he came back out and told me "Dave" wanted me to go into the store to talk to him. At this point I am getting very frustrated, but I complied. I walked into the store and asked for "Dave". Guess what, "Dave" was to busy to speak with me, so he sent out one of his employees. The employee was a young lady and she was very nice, courteous and respectful. I explained my "Dutch John Resort" experience with her and she told me she would go back to speak with "Dave". I don't even know if there really is a "Dave" as I have never seen or spoken with him. Anyway, she returns and cleared up THEIR confusion about the late return. I showed the young lady the charge on my card for the second day. Overall experience would be a 1, but the two ladies I dealt with were very helpful, courteous, understanding and respectful. Manager gave us options to change rooms, none were up to basic cleanliness standards. We did not stay and found other accommodations. We were not given a refund and are forced to work with our credit card service for a disputed transaction. It's a big drive to get there and once you are there options for lodging are limited. Choose carefully and do your due diligence before booking.

They've built a new Shower House that has individual full-suite facilities (shower, toilet, sink). They look nice. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. The interstate noise is present in the background, but can't really be heard once we were in the RV. I would stay here again if passing through.

There's lots of spots even on a busy day to find along the beach. The cabins are really quaint and a blast from the past. There's a stove, heater, and fridge that takes a long time to get cold. The beds are spring mattresses and cool to look at (see-through from the side). The mattresses aren't comfortable. I didn't sleep well my time there which was a negative. Bring sheets and pillows. The stove works great and the fridge can keep things cool. A complaint I have is Cabin 22's fireplace. Every other cabin has a really great "grill surface" over the fire pit, but ours is broken and has this dainty, cheap, steel grid grill that is not user friendly. We made it work, but would've like to know beforehand or have a better grill replaced. Awesome peaceful place with no internet and cell service. Come here if you want to decompress and unplug.

I asked for an email confirmation which they said they did not do. So 4 days later I showed up and they said the price was $49 and change. I explained what I was quoted and said sorry but no correction. They explained the only way to fill my water tank and pump out was the higher price. This is a clear case of BAIT AND SWITCH. They made no attempt to help into the site. They charged for a pet and the pet walk cage has no shade, no place to sit. So what the pet fee was for who knows. DON'T STOP HERE!

We stayed in the RV Pilot Butte RV Park while we were there. We were just passing through the area…read moreand not part of a rally. This location is famous for hosting rallies and group events because they have hundreds of RV sites. When we stayed at the end of August, there weren't very many other RV's at the campground, so we had good separation from our neighbors. The sites are gravel, with not grass, but they have a dog park nearby with lots of healthy grass for the pups. The area we stayed in has two sites inside each fenced area with full hookups. We chose to park parallel to the fence rather than back in so we could have more room. We have a 40 foot motorhome and the back in configuration makes our front end hang out into the roadway quite far. The utilities were easy to access with our parking sideways, but could be far back for sewer if we had back in. There were not issues with the utilities while we were there. The over the air TV channels were not very good, and we had to use our own internet hot spot to stream some TV in the evening. There was a bathhouse near the center of the RV parking, but we didn't use it. They had a book exchange inside of an old newspaper dispenser that I chose a book out of. While staying, we went over the horse races that were happening over the weekend we were there. It was pretty cheap to get in and we enjoyed placing a few bets and watching the ponies run. You must check in with the elderly couple that manages the park before choosing your site. They take cash or check only. I paid cash to make things easy. The price was not too bad compared to other RV parks now days. We would surely be back when in the area.

Polite camp host. The event complex (fairgrounds) itself was very clean, had beautiful flowers and frendly staff whioe we were walking our dog. $45 to stay.
