We are so glad we did not skip this wonderful stop. We had stayed at many other locations over the years, and this is by far one of the most beautiful locations to park our motorhome. The camp managers were so very friendly. I booked over the phone and spoke to the very nice lady to secure the reservation. Upon showing up, her husband was waiting to check us in and show us to our site. They only have 2 or 3 "pull through" sites, which we were given the end one on the end. There are others you can drive through, but if they are busy, these sites are actually back in sites and you may not be able to drive through if someone is using the other side. The site was relatively level and the utilities were easy to hook up. Our site had full hookups with 50 amp service to accommodate our motorhome. They offered a laundry room as well as restrooms with showers, but we did not use any of these. They were apologetic for leaves and branches on the ground near our site due to a wind storm that had blown through the night before. It did not matter to use because everything was so beautiful and well kept in spite of the storm. We will definitely return to this location when we are in the area.

Would definitely stay here again! The town of Fort Bridger has a great historic park just 8 min walk from the RV park. Not a fan of the 10am checkout time, it didn't affect us but might be an issue for others.

Winning that distinction is no small feat, as there are so many spots to stay along Utah's most prominent scenic byway, but it's just got so much going for it. First, it's at about 10,300ft in elevation, which means that in the blazing heat of summer, you may just kiss the '70s, spend most of the day in the '60s, and have those incredible nights in the tent in the '40s where you thank your lucky stars that you have someone who will go up the Mirror Lake Highway with you and hike by day, and snuggle up in a sleeping-bag-for-two by night. I've not actually had that last experience, but it's on my list. At any rate, the elevation is just what you need in summer, and is not to be messed with in cooler temps. The Highway actually closes during winter, so this campground typically doesn't open until around Memorial Day each spring. The namesake lake is delightful, and planted with willing trout. There are no monster fish lurking in the deep, but the kids will get a kick out of drowning a worm beneath a bobber. I also like that the lake is far enough away from the campsites that you're not constantly worrying about little ones wandering off to play in the water. The further up the road in the campground, the more true this is. If you're looking to launch off for adventure, there are hikes on hikes on hikes. My favorite ever lackadaisical hike I've ever had was on the MLH, but you can find your own. The western terminus of the Highline Trail is just a few hundred feet away down the road, so check that out for a starting point, or grab one of the other many trailheads at your disposal-Ruth Lake, Mirror Lake, Fehr Lake-those are all bodies of waters and names of nearby trailheads. I typically stay in dispersed campsites, but having a few resources, restrooms, parking, and a picnic table is nice sometimes too. I dream of staying here in the height of summer, of making overly-complicated camp meals, of wandering the creeks, of homemade marshmallow s'mores, hand-churned ice cream, and that warm sleeping bag at night.

This location is famous for hosting rallies and group events because they have hundreds of RV sites. When we stayed at the end of August, there weren't very many other RV's at the campground, so we had good separation from our neighbors. The sites are gravel, with not grass, but they have a dog park nearby with lots of healthy grass for the pups. The area we stayed in has two sites inside each fenced area with full hookups. We chose to park parallel to the fence rather than back in so we could have more room. We have a 40 foot motorhome and the back in configuration makes our front end hang out into the roadway quite far. The utilities were easy to access with our parking sideways, but could be far back for sewer if we had back in. There were not issues with the utilities while we were there. The over the air TV channels were not very good, and we had to use our own internet hot spot to stream some TV in the evening. There was a bathhouse near the center of the RV parking, but we didn't use it. They had a book exchange inside of an old newspaper dispenser that I chose a book out of. While staying, we went over the horse races that were happening over the weekend we were there. It was pretty cheap to get in and we enjoyed placing a few bets and watching the ponies run. You must check in with the elderly couple that manages the park before choosing your site. They take cash or check only. I paid cash to make things easy. The price was not too bad compared to other RV parks now days. We would surely be back when in the area.
