I had been coming to this place since I can remember and have great childhood memories here. Now let's talk about the visit: started with their small sampler. Veeeery generous portions. The sorullitos were the best I've had in a while. Their mofongo was still on point with the vegetable broth and carne frita. My only comment about it is that the broth had more tomato than I remember but it was still good. Service was great as wait times for food were reasonable. Place was not packed for a Saturday night. One thing I would not recommend of what I ordered, is their Sangria. Not good at all, but the food very tasty, fresh and warm.

Great local restaurant with excellent pizza and much more. As plates passed by from other tables,…read morewe immediately regretted not ordering the mofongo with one of the many options available. My wife's veggie pizza was excellent, and she was more than pleased with it. Unfortunately, my experience was quite different. The kitchen apparently skipped my pizza, and after waiting for some time, they seemed to rush it by taking those toppings and placing them on another pizza that was already being prepared for someone else. It was obvious because the extra toppings were not properly cooked--they were neither crispy nor fully cooked. It was disappointing to see the quality sacrificed because of a lack of organization. There's no doubt in my mind that if my pizza had been prepared properly from the start, following the correct cooking process, it would have been a phenomenal pizza.

I even took my husband there on one of our dates back in the 1990s, and it quickly became a special place for us. The food and atmosphere were amazing then, and I'm happy to say they still are today! As mentioned above, we went to the Plaza el Caribe food court location but the menu was very limited so we chose to go to another nearby location. Menu was more extensive, but I was disappointed that they no longer had yuca fries on their menu. I ordered the pavo (turkey) sandwich which was 5.99. It came with their special white queso and a little bit of lettuce and diced tomato. It was a bit dry (needed more mayo) and was skimpy on the pavo. I ordered the natural cut fries and they were really good, but not hot and fresh (1.99 lg). My friend ordered the cubano sandwich and he really enjoyed that along with the corn surrillos (fritters) and a pastel de yuca (yuca soup). I had one surrillo and it was too dry and I tried a spoonful of the soup and it was really tasty. It reminded me of butternut squash soup. Overall, our meals were still good, dining room was very clean (outdoor seating as well), employees were friendly, and the prices are amazing (26.15 total). Parking was very congested and tight (park on the street if you can).
