My mum was a patient there and been seen from April to her last date on July 10th, 2019(4mths). It was a disappointing experience and especially how it all ended. My mum is a senior citizen and a heart patient. After our registration, we went through some tests for blood, urine, stool and few EKG's.
Her doctor, Dr. Asif Qadri was the main doctor (cardiologist) to see her whenever we were scheduled.
Here are my disappointments: On our second to last appointment; Dr. Qadri asked me to give him the medications he himself prescribed. I replied that it was two. I thought how comes you don't have the records straight with your patient and you wrote the prescriptions? He further asked me to show him and I replied that I did not come with them. He said well, "I needed to see the medications so I can know how she is taking them. Also, you should always come with her medications".
First, I never heard of that nor was I told to do so in my whole life going to doctor's offices. Secondly, I don't need to carry her medications whenever we come to you when you should already know them anyways. Not only that, he wrote these prescriptions and the pharmacy will not never give more than what was prescribed anyways. As he (Dr. Qadri) insisted, I decided to comply. There were no phone network connections in his office. I asked if I can use his office line to call my wife at home to take pictures of her medications and send to me. He replied, no. Also, he replied with an ugly tone that "you have to go outside and make the call and come back with the label of her prescription medications". I did and by the time I came back, he was seeing someone else. I had to wait for another more than 30mins before I can see him again.
Now, I showed him the pictures of the 2 bottles. He concluded and started logging them in her profile whilst I'm watching. This was supposed to happen before anyways which he didn't to my surprise.
During this visit, he reiterated that we must have an appointment for NIH for MRI of the heart. I agreed and they were supposed to work on this knowing that my mum will be returning after 2months at that time. I was told that it can take up to 6weeks to get an appointment confirmed. This was all explained to me by Luis (the scheduler with NIH) and Dr. Qadri.
Sadly, they (both Luis and Qadri) never did anything till last minute and even promised me a phone call by Dr. Qadri afterwards when confirmed as he was going to try expediting. Unfortunately, even on our last visit(July 10th) when we still have about 4weeks remaining; he cares less and gave me a bunch of excuses. I asked for a referral or prescription to do the MRI outside; he insisted that will be expensive and NIH is better where they will do the whole thing needed.
In summary, we never had the appointment with NIH and Dr. Qadri was very unprofessional with us. Above all, I believe that we were undervalued and marginalized. For sure, I believed things will have been different if we were Urdu speakers and I felt that.
Anyways, we believe in Allah and he will always take care of his creation and we just needed to do what's within our capacity and we did. I pray that I never have to experience with such from a doctor or an organization.
Dr. Qadri, must know that because we are not paying bunch of monies or we are not with insurance, or rich enough for my mum; doesn't warrant to be treated otherwise. We will leave the rest with our maker, Allah.
Interestingly, Dr. Qadri continued to show his surprise that my mum's heart is functioning less than 25% as per the EKG results and still alive which he cares less about. Alhamdu lilah. read more
