Best record shopping experience I had on a recent trip to Berlin.
The store is not necessarily the best stocked in town, but there are gems to be found at prices that are not extortionate. Also one of the few (only?) places that has a small selection of cassette tapes, vintage magazines and books on music as well as the usual records and CDs.
The guy working at the time was very friendly even to an ignorant Englishman such as myself that can't speak German, nor even attempt to given I have no knowledge of the language at all. Most impressive of all, he rounded up my purchases to €35 and threw in the approx. €6 worth of 7" singles I'd picked out for free. He didn't have to do that at all, but he called it a "thank you for coming" gift.
Don't expect that treatment just because you read it here of course - I wouldn't expect it again if I went back - but its touches like that that make a visit here a very welcoming experience, unmatched in Berlin from my currently limited experience. read more
