Outstanding customer service. Mr. Bobby is the best luthier in town. There can be a back log of a few weeks (not a bad thing) before you can get your instrument in but once you get the call to bring it in, the turnaround is usually fast depending on the degree of repair, of course. We've done business with MusicMasters for decades. From student rentals for the kids to guitar repair and set-up, not to mention multiple instrument purchases. This is not a big box operation and they take the time with every customer as is if you're a seasoned musician, and not a quick sale. I've often seen a young person come in with a new guitar in need of guidance and they are always more than willing to help them out. All they need is a lounge chair and a coffee pot in the guitar shop for the locals to hang out and compare notes...but then again, Bobby won't get any work done! I have chosen not to patronize this business any longer. I have previously made several purchases at the establishment including music and sound equipment since I have been in the Tallahassee area since 2008. I was finally given a charge account just last year, and even having the account I feel I was treated differently than other customers perhaps "lighter customers" in the fact that my credit was limited, although I've always paid for anything I've charged there. Do your research before selling an instrument here. They offered a laughable $400 for a flute worth over a grand. When they gave me my flute back they'd already tagged it to sell for a grand. I understand they need to watch their profit margins, but their offer was insultingly low. Be careful not to get ripped off. On the plus side, the employees were all very kind and understanding during the process. So I bumped the review up a star for that. read more

I have rented so many instruments from here but When it came time for me to return the instrument they charged me an additional $30 didn't at all try to work with me. I turned it in on the 10th of the month and they charged me for the entire month and would not budge and were very rude with me in the store. I will never use this company again. read more

I've been a customer at Music Masters for about four years now. Most of my needs have been for my daughter who began playing trumpet in 6th grade. I rented to own (got a great deal on a slightly used Yamaha beginners trumpet) and have always had great service whether it was related to a purchase or minor repair. Long story short, I just sent my alto sax to L.A. to get a total overhaul (my best friend is a pro out there and has a tech that has always done good work for him at a reasonable price) and didn't want to take any chances with the workmanship. I haven't played in 25 years so needless to say, I've had to start over in many ways. Music Masters price matched several online items for my horn and accessories that I needed (mouthpiece, reeds, stand, etc.). I've been practicing a little everyday for the past few weeks and sure enough, my horn needed a few minor adjustments. I had the pleasure of dealing with one of their woodwind techs this afternoon. His name is Chris Tarquinio. He was kind enough to take a look at my horn at a moments notice and completed the necessary repairs in less than a half hour. Above all else, he could not have been kinder or more professional. As a service manager in another industry myself, I could not have been more pleased. Chris also made a great recommendation to replace my current gig bag(soft case) for my horn with a fantastic Protec case that was in stock. My horn will not go ANYWHERE ELSE from now on. I would like to update you on this situation, I was contacted by Lantz and he apologized for our car getting towed. He refunded our towing expense with in 2 days of contacting me. They are working with another towing company because the current one is going around and ripping people off. Turns out the the deal they had with the towing company that towed our car was not supposed to start towing vehicle until midnight. However the towing company was taking it upon themselves to go and get cars, while charging $88 a tow, and making quite a profit. (That night they towed 4 cars in matter of 2 hrs). read more

Had a horrible experience at this store and would give it 0 stars if I could. After waiting over double their estimated time it would take to get my beautiful guitar restrung (they told me 1-3 days, I came back on the third day and it wasn't done then finally heard from them after 7 days) I came to find my antique guitar case completely ruined. After examining it closer it looks like somebody just beat it with a hammer to tear it open. When I first brought the guitar in I made it VERY clear how to open it, making sure to go out of my way to show them that there was no key, no pulling, no hitting with a hammer required... just a simple push of a botton. The case closes still with effort but it is very damaged and I was given a partial refund for labor (not a full refund) while this guitar case is going to cost upwards of 250$ to replace. The worst part is that this isn't my guitar case. It has a long lineage of being passed down and holds a lot of sentimental value to me and everybody who has owned it before me. The damage on this case isn't from a gentle mis-touch, I mean somebody really manhandled this thing. I left the store crying and very upset because this guitar case was not mine to break. Nobody in the store seemed to care. Since they are all musicians you think they would understand the sentiment behind instruments and their cases. I'm a very understanding and forgiving person but the way this was handled (confusion on their end, all workers denying responsibility that they had done anything to the case when I brought the case in in perfect condition, letting me leave dissatisfied and upset, the apathy of those running the store...etc) is unacceptable and I would never ever recommend this store to any of my fellow musicians who actually care about their instruments. I would have appreciated a call to ask me how to open the case but instead I'm left leaving this establishment with a partial refund and bearing the responsibility to find and pay for a 250$ replacement for this antique and honestly irreplaceable case. I am astonished by the lack of professionalism displayed by Musicmasters and I urge everybody to take their business elsewhere. read more
