I have shopped at this Guitar Center for about 5 years and find the employees are both friendly and helpful. The best thing about this business is that I can order a guitar, put it on my Gear Card with 6 months of interest free financing, and I have 45 days to decide if its the guitar for me. I have returned several guitars using this benefit and always end up finding the right guitar with the sound I like. The only issue I have is the size of the Acoustic guitar room and the limited number guitars to tryout at the store. The big stores in places like Orlando have a real advantage with space. However, because of the 45 day return benefit when purchasing at Guitar Center, I can still get any guitar I want to try it out within about a week. Over all Guitar Center gets a good rating from me and I actually ordered another guitar today. Can't wait until it comes in. Go Guitar Center !!! read more

I want to love Guitar Center, but as it stands, I like it. My experience at this location varies based on who is working. Sometimes, great customer service. Other times, I'm largely ignored. The selection of guitars in-store is decent but not the best. I buy my instruments elsewhere but come here for strings, picks, sheet music, straps, etc etc. Not a bad store by any means, but the times I've been ignored have outnumbered the few times where I felt welcomed. read more

Been to this location multiple times and left highly disappointed and dissatisfied each time. Employees largely refuse to help customers. They also will find any and all reasons to deny buying your used gear. Had a focusrite Scarlett solo audio interface was looking to trade it in and up for a better product and was told by the associate working that "they don't buy trash". When they had 6 brand new Scarlett solos sitting in the display case. Was also told that they didn't have spectronics omnisphere when it said they had it in stock online. I asked the employee working if he could at least check in back if they actually had it, because it was on display in store and saying in stock online. To which he replied "oh I love when this happens" very sarcastically, walked away for 30 seconds and came back and said they don't have it. Have never gone back sense and would highly suggest anyone interested in coming to this location go to Music Masters on North Monroe St. much better experience. read more

If i could give them 0 stars i would. Customer service is absolutely terrible, especially from one employee who i see often. Unsure of his name but he has long hair and a beard and often wears a bandana. Never wants to help me find anything and has refused to sell me items 3 separate times for seemingly no reason at all. I have a credit card with guitar center and unfortunately I will be canceling it as I never see myself stepping foot here again after todays experience where I asked this employee to check the back for something, and he proceeded to wander around the store for 10 minutes (the store is not very large by the way) and then tell me they didnt have the item that is in stock online and then basically stared at me until I had basically no other choice but to just walk away. I walked in today ready to spend over $500 in the store and sadly they wont be seeing a single penny of that until they find a better team member that at least can pretend to seem interested in being there. read more

Maybe because it was Christmas when I visited this location, their inventory of percussion instruments was poor at best. They seemed to have a lot of empty inventory shelving (in the percussion department). The service was OK at best, they seemed overwhelmed. I live almost two hours away in Panama City, FL, but business called me to Tallahassee FL. In the past I've had good experiences at different Guitar Centers and one not so good experience. I wasn't sure what to expect at the Tallahassee GC. I'm an older guy, with a simple aspiration of just learning to play electric guitar as a personal hobby. I walked in the store, and based on my research, knew exactly which guitar I wanted to put my hands on. Apprehensively, I asked a young man named Rob for assistance. I told him I was a beginner, and my playing knowledge was extremely limited. I expected a "why are you bothering me" attitude but no; he was nonjudgemental and went about his way to answer my questions, and to help me with what he felt I wanted. Poor guy climbed up and down the ladder a half dozen times offering advice and different options. Thinking I knew what I wanted walking in, now left me trying to choose between 3 different guitars. I was not really prepared to do business that day, and thinking the 15% discount on trades would last through the end of the month, I would just return the following week, because I had business in Tallahassee at that time. Unfortunately, the special ended the next day, I didn't have my trade in guitars with me, and Rob would not be there to assist due to his day off. I had no other option but to return the following day. Rob was such a great guy to work with. He asked a couple of colleagues if they would assist me when I returned the following day, and Nick said he would be happy to help. We chatted a bit, and it seemed he too was sincere in helping, so I looked forward to working with him. I returned the following day, but my timing was bad because Nick was getting ready to teach a class. He apologized, and then introduced me to Kaemon. What I thought was bad timing turned into awesome timing. Not to take anything away from Rob or Nick, because if not for their help, I would not have returned in the first place. Kaemon...well, turns out he's a cut above with his knowledge base. Needless to say, where I was torn between my decision on 3 different guitars, his knowledge and suggestions made my final decision a no-brainer! He made the sale. Not only was he very knowledgeable, he was respectful, and only after a few minutes of discussion, I immediately knew he had my best interests at hand. As I was fumbling with the guitar, he even showed me how to place my hand on the guitar so that I could play the strings more comfortably. Who does this sort of thing in this day and age? So impressed. By the time it was all said and done, this young man left a lasting impression on me as well as my significant other, who patiently accompanied me. Kaemon's easy to work with attitude, his knowledge of music, and the wealth of information he was eager to share made me feel like I was talking to a best friend who was looking out for me. Even after the sale, my significant other and I are still talking about how congenial, knowledgable, and helpful this young man was. He made me want to buy more...and I did! I knew what to expect as far as my trade in's were worth. Yeah, I get that I could get more selling them on my own. I also understand the business model, and how they need to profit as well. To me, the trade-ins were well worth not having to hassle with with Craigslist tire-kickers trying to beat you down, or Ebay taking their "cut", boxing, shipping, waiting for your money to clear, yada yada. Here's what matters; I got the deal that was right for me. For a brand new guitar and an awesome tube amp at a final cost less than the original MSRP price of the guitar alone (which is the same price regardless of where you look, to include every online store such as Sweetwater, Sam Ash, Wildwood, etc.) while moving two guitars that were only taking up space, I am SO STOKED over the deal I got! I can't say enough good things about the awesome team of experienced, helpful, and nonjudgmental young men at the Tallahassee Guitar Center. As long as these guys keep doing what they do, they've got a customer for life. Kudos to Rob and Nick who started me off on the right foot. Double kudos for Kaemon, who spent so much of his time making sure I got the best deal possible. Although I didn't get the name of the manager, (Alex Manor?) obviously that individual has a direct impact on how the store is run, and the type people they hire. By the way, Kaemon was only one of two associates (Matthew, you rock too, and thanks for your prompt attention) on the floor, so he was a really busy guy, yet was never gone long enough to make me feel ignored. I'm so glad I stopped by, and so glad to have made the acquaintance of these hard working young men. Guitar Center in Tallahassee...worth a two hour drive. While your mileage may vary, mine was definitely worth it. Customer service at it's finest is all I can say. read more
