I used Musick Loss Management for two repairs this year and I was very satisfied with both projects. In my experience, I found the MLM team honest, good craftsmen, prompt, and they communicated well with me. I would recommend them and if I had another need for a contractor to handle repairs, I would not hesitate to have them do it.
For me, it all started with my upstairs neighbor and their washing machine breaking. The resulting water from just a little over one load of laundry coming through the ceiling ruining the dry wall in several places (it became wet wall!) and subsequently leaking through the light fixtures onto the hardwood floor was overwhelming. I never thought such a small amount of water could have such an impact - but it did. This justified my having insurance all these years and when I needed insurance, like a good neighbor, they were there. Yes, it's true. I will be giving my insurance agent and company a great write up as they were truly wonderful through this whole ordeal.
I asked around and I learned that Musick Loss Management had done work for some of my neighbors and had a good reputation, so I called them and talked with Mark Musick. He explained how these things usually go and I was in agony when he explained the process for repairing the ceiling and the floor. The biggest issue on my project was examining what caused the water to come down and make sure I was not open to a recurrence. Once that was determined I worked with MLM and the insurance to arrange to schedule the repairs. Mark designated Brian Nondorf as the project manager for my work. Brian did a great job for me and I was very happy with his performance.
Understand that when a water problem like this happens, you are usually looking at having remediation of the immediate problem done immediately. Then, you need to arrange for temporary housing - the insurance was great on this - and then move out for the prescribed time to allow the repair work to be done. MLM provided an estimate of the time they would need for the repairs and they helped arrange a restoration company to pack up everything and move it into storage while the repairs took place.
MLM started the repairs when they said they would. They communicated regularly each week for the four weeks I was out of the condo. I was ecstatic when they told me they would be done on time and I arranged for the restoration company to move everything back in.
I found the workmanship that MLM provided of high quality and in some cases, they made it look better than it did before. Note that I did not do anything other than repair the damage that was there. There were a few small items on my list that needed attention and MLM took care of them quickly and with no hassle to me. I was happy.
About two weeks after all the repair was done, I had another water issue on the floor completely separate from the original and called MLM to ask them to handle it. They did that additional work, also, to my complete satisfaction.
When something as serious as water damage happens, there are many, many things to do and it is important to have a contractor you can trust and that will work with you to get it done right. I had great experiences with MLM and would use them again without question. They know what they are doing and they were exceptional in all their dealings with me. read more
