This is such an amazing Music Store. They deal mostly in instruments, and string instruments at that, but they also have a lot of other stuff including mixers, recorders, mics and more stuff I don't even know what is. The thing is, they have so much to chose from! I think the largest stores would be hard pressed to carry so much in stock. The place is messy. They don't deny it, and they apologize for it, but they are constantly getting stuff in and it all goes through the front door. So there is clutter. Get over it. It's not your home and the clutter won't hurt you. If you can't get over it, you will probably miss that really cool Uke or banjo tucked away underneath something that would have been your pride and joy. So, lots of stuff! The service is excellent. These are down home people and they want to make you happy! Imagine that these days. Profit isn't their only motive. They are knowledgeable and they don't pressure you. They are just as happy just talking about what they love; Music! These are nice people! If you are not a nice person; willing to accept them, then please act as though this review kills it for you. We stopped in today while on vacation in the Smoky Mountains area. As a ukulele player, I was interested to stop in to see the ukulele sale as mentioned on a billboard close to the store. In reality, nothing was on sale although there was a good selection of Kala ukuleles as well as a few other scattered makers--including the recently released Breedlove ukuleles (shown at Summer NAMM 2019). Sadly, prices were not "outlet" in any way--prices were at or above MAP (minimum advertised price). The Martin display area was very nice (two areas in the store) but the rest of the store was a bit of a chaotic mess. So...this is a music store--not an outlet--with no outlet savings or even advertised sales (e.g. ukulele sale billboard), and If you're going to go there--be advised of the difference. read more

Chris was super helpful and patient with me while we picked out my new baby!!! I absolutely love the decision I made to get this amazing keyboard, it's everything I wanted and more!!! I highly recommend Music Outlet to anyone wanting to purchase any instruments, whether you are a local or a tourist! Have bought several guitars here. They have a great selection of high end and custom Martin Guitars. They design beautiful inlays that Martin Custom Shop builds for them. They also sell Taylor acoustic guitars. Prices are great. Sales staff are helpful. The owners are often very involved in purchases. Every great review you've read about this place is true! Just bought me a Deering Sierra banjo from here the other day and I don't even know where to begin on how great both the service and subject matter knowledge on the product was. Also the selection of acoustic and folk instruments is amazing. I spent nearly 2 hours in the store looking at guitars and banjos and talked to Chris, Tim and one other associate. Their level of professionalism was far beyond what you get in any other music store out there. Not to mention, their prices are unbeatable, and trust me....I tried to find a better one and couldn't. I will definitely be coming back here on my next trip to the Smokies. If any of the guys at music outlet read this, keep up the good work! read more

Very interesting place with tons and tons of instruments, equipment, music, etc. I really loved all of the antique instruments they had around decorating the place. Very friendly staff, too. Could have been a little more organized in terms of the way the store is displayed, but on the other hand, maybe the disorganization is intentional, as it gives the place a casual, homey feel, like you might experience when you visit your eccentric friend, the music-enthusiast-hoarder. read more

I suppose they stock some decent merchandise, although it's a little hard to tell since everything is thrown around their store in disorganized piles, so I'm giving them two stars for the benefit of the doubt. Unfortunately, their employees are the most rude, unhelpful, condescending music store workers I've ever seen. (And I've been in music stores all over the country.) I've been doing nothing but play guitar for the last 15 years of my life and I make my living playing and teaching music. I don't need for someone to try to convince me I shouldn't be buying the products I've been using for all these years or explain which string is the "high e" versus the "low E." I understand that most of their clientele may be beginners, but beginners should be treated respectfully as well. It's sad, but I've been driving extra to go to Guitar Center while I've been playing in Pigeon Forge because their employees are much nicer and I'd rather not give Music Outlet my business. read more

This store has a ton of inventory, but is the most unkept and disorderly store I have ever been in. The staff don't even know what is in there. The dogs should run the registers, because the staff sucks. Could be A+ with a manager, and staff that cares about their workplace. read more
