He looked at my guitar, closed his eyes for a few seconds, nodded thoughtfully, and said, "Yeah... she's got potential, man." Then he scratched his beard, stared at the ceiling like he was downloading a firmware update directly from the Rock Gods, and quietly said, "Follow me." What followed was less of a shopping trip and more of a spiritual pilgrimage. We wandered Guitar Center for what felt like three business days. Along the way he high-fived a drummer, had a philosophical debate with a bass player about whether tone is a mindset or a lifestyle, explained signal chains using a slice of pizza, a lava lamp, and what I'm pretty sure was quantum physics, then disappeared into the acoustic room. He eventually reappeared riding an office chair, tuned three guitars without looking, handed me the exact strings I needed, recommended an obscure pedal from 1987, and an album I'd never heard of that has since changed my life. Before I could thank him, he simply nodded, muttered, "Rock on, dude," and vanished back behind the amp wall like a cryptid protecting the sacred tones. I still don't know if James actually works at Guitar Center or if he only materializes whenever someone's tone is in danger.

Decent selection of drum gear, cymbals, etc., guitar cables & straps; strings that might be years old; used speaker cones, some guitar and bass cabinets ... Limited selection of guitar pedals, guitars and basses, guitar and bass amps & no tubes for amps. I think a drummer and/or obscure gear hoarder might find something interesting. Location is actually one block away from the Guitar Center Northridge. I probably imagine that Dave Grohl, whose Studio 606 is also located nearby in Northridge, probably came here one time and said, "Naaahhh, nope." I come here for bargains on guitar straps, strings & cables; but everything else is inexplicably priced at MSRP ?! Hoarded, cluttered, dingy, messy gear vibe, (like it all came out directly from a storage unit or estate sale of some hoarder house) might be a big turn off, though. Open Saturdays 12 - 5 and sometimes Sundays 12 - 5.

Thanks to Jammin' Jersey, my set is now complete!

I'd like to start off by saying that Dani is amazing! My 9 yr old decided that she wanted to learn how to play the Ukulele and a quick search led me to Music Lab. Her free trial lesson was with Dani and half way through I could tell that my daughter felt so at ease and was excited to play. We are now a couple of lessons in and my daughter looks forward to her next lesson, practices daily and comes home happy with where she's at. My daughter can be a little shy and anxious when learning something new, but from the very beginning Dani set such a great atmosphere that she goes in confident to class all on her own. Makes me excited as a parent to see my daughter so happy and eager to learn. Thanks Dani! read more

A special thank you to Darion, who was his first keyboard teacher and really helped make music fun for him. He also had great experiences with Hanna and Henry for vocals, Kristen for guitar, and is now continuing his guitar journey with Rianna.
