I'm…read moreglad we found Prado Music Academy almost a year ago for my son(10) who wanted to learn how to play the violin and daughter(8) who wanted to play piano. They just had their 1st recital last Saturday and they did an amazing job! Grateful for the school especially my son's violin teacher Ms. Allegra and daughter's piano teacher Mr. Nico who chose beautiful music pieces to perform for the recital. Ms. Allegra is sweet, organized and super patient with my son, who's usually really shy but he was so confident during his recital and he was happy he did a duet with his teacher during the recital. I'm amazed how fast he was learning. Mr. Nico keeps the lesson fun for my daughter. He really educates her in reading notes and playing. He's very encouraging and committed to teaching. The staff and owner, Jennifer, is very accommodating. Always emails or calls back at a timely manner whenever I have questions. Scheduling make up lesson is also a cinch just by doing it online. I highly recommend Prado Music Academy to parents who want their child/ren to receive top notch music training. Can't wait for the next recital and how much my kids will improve!

This review is long overdue! My son has been with School of Rock Woodland Hills since July 2022,…read moreand we have had such a wonderful experience over the past four-plus years. He started in Rookies, moved to Rock 101, and began with keys before exploring vocals and now guitar. Over the years, he has had the opportunity to perform in several shows, and it has been amazing to see how much he has grown in his confidence, musical ability, and love for music. A special thank you to Darion, who was his first keyboard teacher and really helped make music fun for him. He also had great experiences with Hanna and Henry for vocals, Kristen for guitar, and is now continuing his guitar journey with Rianna. What we really love about School of Rock is that it goes beyond regular music lessons. The kids learn to play together, rehearse as a band, and actually get the opportunity to perform. It makes learning music exciting and gives them something to look forward to. Phil and the staff have always been wonderful to work with. Christina, who was part of the team for most of our journey, was always so helpful and great to work with. Brian, who joined more recently, has also been very helpful. Everyone has always been friendly and accommodating with schedules, which makes things much easier for families. After more than four years, we are still very happy to be part of the School of Rock family. It has been a great experience for our son, and we are grateful to everyone who has been part of his musical journey!

In addition to personal lessons, they strongly encourage their students to perform in one of the many concert performances they put on every few months. In these performances, the students focus on a musical genre which can range from rock to alternative to blues and so on. The instructors quickly recognized her guitar talent and encouraged her to try out for House Band, which she did. In House Band, the students take their music skills to another level and perform challenging pieces. House Band performances have ranged from competitions to venues in Beverly Hills, Hollywood, and San Diego. The instructors also focus on music theory and improvisation with my daughter. The instructors come from well recognized music schools and offer constant feedback and encouragement, while holding high expectations from their students. My daughter has also met great kids in her bands and formed friendships with many of the other performers. They even plan fun events outside of practice. My daughter is very happy at School of Rock. With the skills and experience she is gaining here, she has decided that she wants to continue her music education in college.

I rented a saxophone here for my son. We got a beat up old thing which I wasn't too happy about but…read moresince my son was just beginning, I thought it would be ok. Well after a few months things started just falling off the instrument and my son couldn't hit some of the notes because it was in such bad condition. Then a piece kept falling off so we finally took it in for repair. The owner, Jeff (I believe) took one look and started accusing my son of denting it and not taking care of it. He exclaimed that the instrument was like new and my son created all these new dents! I honestly couldn't believe how he was accusing my son, all arrogant and condescending. Telling my son how irresponsible he was! How would he know, Jeff wasn't the person that rented us the beat up old instrument in the first place. He never inspected it, and this instrument was a piece of crap when rented to us! Because I had the insurance, I paid the $50 deductible for the repair and they gave us another instrument. One that was in better condition (but not great). But my son still had trouble with it and he still couldn't hit some of the low notes. My son started to get discouraged and thought about switching instruments (to trumpet) because he thought he was a terrible saxophone player. My son told me all the other students had really nice saxophones rented from Nick Rails. So we decided to switch. When we turned in the crappy saxophone, Jeff then accused my son of denting this saxophone! The dent was there previously but Jeff refused to acknowledge that and insisted (quite rudely) that my son dented it. Then he exclaimed the sax was corroded! It was NOT. Can you believe this guy? He took my deposit for this and I was so sick of dealing with this rude, arrogant guy over the past several months I didn't bother arguing anymore. I'm so glad we took our business elsewhere. Nick Rails in Agoura Hills rents superior good quality instruments. My son is so happy with his new sax from Nick Rails. He can hit all the low notes, no problems at all. The issue wasn't my son's skills, it was those crappy instruments from West Valley Music Center!

If you are looking for affordable fun singing classes, then this is the place to be. Ashton is…read moresuper patient and knows how to gage the level of each individual student. I've been coming here for about a year, mainly because I wanted an extra activity to do between work and I have to say, I have learned a lot about my voice and how to use it properly. I used to strain my voice all the time just singing in the car but now I can sing for hours on those long road trips haha. I also train people at work in software and am required to talk quite a lot. Ashton has taught me how to effectively use my voice even if I am not singing. I used to run out of breath and my voice would be gone after a four to five hour training but now I'm breathing properly and projecting my voice with my diaphragm instead of my throat. The small details and the exercises that Ashton gives really make a large difference. I have since convinced my girlfriend to take lessons. She was hesitant at first and not very motivated to start singing lessons but now she loves it. Along with the singing lessons, Ashton also does some fun events such as Christmas shows, music videos with all the members and other fun stuff. These are not required but they are excited to test out all those hours of vocal training. Highly recommended for all ages and especially if you are just looking for something new to try.
