My experience with this store was appalling, and I am not surprised that there are other poor reviews/experiences on multiple websites, that are similar to mine. I bought a guitar at this store for my 6-year-old son. About a month later there is a rattling sound inside one of the tuning machines and one of the saddles was moving and creating a clicking sound when you strummed the individual string. It can happen from time to time that a guitar might have a faulty part. I could easily have fixed it myself (I play guitar, and have a few guitars myself) but since it was under warranty it was best just to bring it in for repair. The guy behind the counter, Andrew, asked me what was needed. I told him that I bought the guitar for my son, and that there was probably a bad tuning machine that was causing a rattle when you moved the guitar. I also pointed out that something was wrong with one of the saddles. Andrew says "no problem" and then takes the guitar to the back workroom. A few minutes later he comes back saying that he fixed the guitar. Being curious, I then asked "how did you fix it?" Andrew then says, "I opened the tuning machine and stuck a small piece of rubber in there to keep it from rattling." ARE YOU KIDDING ME? For those of you that might not know, a tuning machine is a set of sprockets or gears that turn a post to tune your strings. If you stick a piece of rubber or foam in there, it will grind the rubber in the gears and you will end up with a bigger mess with the problem still unresolved! I tried to verbalize this kindly so that he might understand where I am coming from with this repair need. I said, "so if I bought a car and you were a mechanic and the engine's timing is slightly off which is now causing a rattling under the hood. You would consider it fixed if you padded those rattling parts with some foam?" Andrew's answer was, "Well, it's not like you bought a Ferrari!" NO WAY DID HE SAY THAT! Essentially, he was saying that since I didn't spend money on a more expensive guitar, it really wasn't worth his time and effort in getting it fixed properly. I guess pouring out $150 is about the right price for a faulty guitar that has a "just-put-a-bandaid-on-it-warranty". I will never return there again because of the lack of sense and the contempt that they must have for ANY customer that walks through their doors. He then postured that, "What more can be done?" I bit my tongue, left the store and vowed never to go back there again. When you are deciding to make a music purchase of some type (instruments, lessons, etc) you can find stores that are willing to back up their product with hospitable service and an appreciation of the customers, but you will not find it here. BY THE WAY - while I was there the first time choosing my son's guitar, there was an electric guitar on the wall that I really, really wanted. Unfortunately, after this experience, I opted not to return and purchase a $1200 "Ferrari" from them. oh, ALSO...don't be fooled by the Lorenzo Price reviews on Google +, and elsewhere, since he is posing as a customer that had a great experience. He is a guitar teacher at the store. Don't believe me? Just call the store and ask for him! Their reviews are the lowest ranked of the music stores from Cumming to Downtown Atlanta. Go figure that after my experience I would add one to the bunch. Please check out other local music stores or purchase online. I hope my review will help you make an educated decision where your hard-earned money matters, and to where it eventually goes! read more

My son started piano lessons here almost two years ago, and now he is taking both piano and guitar lessons. The instructors are engaging with both the students and the parents. They are not just musicians, as most of them have formal degrees in their respective fields of music. The staff in the front has always been super friendly and knowledgeable. We purchased a guitar here for my son and they took the time to answer questions and walk us through comparisons between guitars. We enjoy the small family environment that they create with their customers. Plus, the prices for the lessons are affordable. As far as COVID, they have been so flexible with offering virtual lessons when students and instructors don't feel well. They also have hand sanitizer in their store for people to use coming in and out. I would recommend Music Authority, Shawn J, and Andrew H for anyone looking to learn how to play an instrument. I'm sure the other instructors are good as well, but my son sees Shawn J for piano and Andrew H. for guitar. He really enjoys the lessons with both of them. read more

Music Authority felt like family from the beginning! Kylan, a guitar instructor at MA, engaged with our daughter day one of her first electric guitar lesson! He is patient and so kind! Our daughter is always excited to go see Kylan! Lilli comes out of her lessons sharing with me all the things she learned as well as what she and Kylan laughed about.. .from the music they love, or not, to movies they have seen or wanna see to just about any random thing they know the other will appreciate! They are birds of a feather! My husband is retired from the Air Force so we have a great respect for those who have served! Lilli loved that here is Kylan, this rock star guitar player, and he is former military just like her Dad! Admire Kylan for his ability to "turn on" a teen to a new passion and turn off any judgment! He is always encouraging and fills Lilli's creative spirit up! I would highly recommend Music Authority, and Kylan! read more

I've been at Music Authority for almost a year now, and my lesson day is my favorite day of the week. I've come a long way in songwriting lessons with Andrew Loggins and feel like I've learned not only about chord progressions and lyricism, but also about the creative process/music in general, which is exactly what I'd been hoping for. Karina Mandock is my voice teacher and she is amazing! I've learned more from her than I have from any voice teacher ever even though I've been working with her for a shorter period of time, and we have a great time and laugh a lot. Highly recommend Music Authority to anyone who is looking for lessons, performance opportunities, etc! read more

Music Authority is such an awesome place. My son has been taking lessons/playing/hanging out at Music Authority for 2 years. Our family is so proud to be part of the Music Authority family. The owners really pour themselves into the kids. They not only teach them music but how to be a better person in the world with their actions and with the choices they make. The kids around Music Authority are all good kids and it's a great, safe environment for them to gather and play music and do life together and form relationships. All of the instructors are great too. Just such a great place and I feel so fortunate that my son has such an awesome place to be a part of. read more

A great local business! Professional instructors who can relate to students of all skill levels and all ages. My children have been students for four years - we've had several instructors (based on our availability) and have been happy with all of them. Melissa and Andrew (owners) offer lots of opportunities for all students: ensembles, open mic, jam sessions, showcase bands and my kids' personal favorite, Rock Camp! Good selection of instruments to purchase - I know nothing about guitars and was given a well-balanced perspective on the pluses/minuses of several instruments, not just pushed to the most expensive as with some stores. Highly recommend! read more

I'm an older adult music student, and I've taken a *lot* of music lessons in my time. I've never enjoyed my lessons and my playing more than at Music Authority. These folks are great! They focus equally on learning to play *and* learning to play (perform, really) in front of an audience. I've learned how to play bass guitar and have performed with several of the performance groups. Makes me feel like a rock start :-) And now I'm learning jazz piano with Dawn Blair and loving every lesson. She's a great performer, a great teacher, and a great person. Andrew and Mellissa Logins have a good thing going with Music Authority. I'm glad I found them. read more

My son and I both had lesson's with Shawn Jacoby. I was guitar and my son drums. Shawn has always made lessons fun for us, and was always a pleasure to be around. My son has been taking drum lessons at Music Authority for years now, and he has really flourished because of them. He's an only child, and I think the lessons, along with the playing in bands has really brought him out of his shell and given him real confidence he can use in the real world. It's not just playing drums, it's having the confidence to get up in front of large groups of people and perform. That kind of confidence is hard to come by. read more

In the Northern 'burbs of Atlanta there is no better value in music education or equipment. Melissa and Andrew Loggins are consummate professionals and have dedicated their considerable talents to running a music business that supports any student at any age or talent level. They meet the student where they are and encourage growth through instruction, practice and performance opportunities. They also support parents in understanding their child's challenges and progress through open communication. I am a student and my husband and two children have been students at this amazing business. read more

I've been a customer of Music Authority's for many years now, so the honeymoon period is over, however my love for this place still grows. What they do musically for kids and adults is absolutely incredible. The management team is nothing less than stellar, the instructors are top notch, and the value I get with cost of lessons and equipment is very much appreciated. Basically, if you or your children are interested or active in music, go check this place out on their website, facebook, or better yet in person. I think you'll be as happy as I am, and you'll wish you did it sooner. read more

I start taking drum lessons at Music Authority a little over 2 years ago and have had instructor Brett Dorton for 1 1/3 years. Brett is an incredible instructor with tons of energy and positive feedback. He's extremely knowledgeable and makes it incredibly easy to learn new stuff. I can't believe how much I've learned in just a short time I've been with him. I highly recommend Brett and Music Authority if you ever desire to start taking lessons. Oh, I'm 51 years old, living the dream, and feel like a kid again. It's never too late to start something new. read more

I have been a happy customer & client for over 5 years now. I have purchased multiple guitars and accessories and my experiences have always been superb! I have also had many of my guitars repaired and set up and very much recommend those services. My greatest experience has been with the guitar lessons I have taken. I have had multiple teachers and all have been very good. Over the last 18 months I have exclusively utilized Steve Moss and cannot think of anyone more qualified to instruct me and I am very pleased with the progress I am making.. read more

Our kids have been students at Music Authority for over a decade. Although our son had to step away because he is now in college, our daughter has continued her classes. Ms. Jan Keller has been their teacher since the beginning - and what a blessing it has been to have her as their teacher and to get to know her. To us, she is more family than teacher! We adore and love her and cannot imagine where the kids would be today without her help, guidance, and support! Melissa and Andrew: Keep up the great work!! read more

Music Authority has the most competent music professionals offering instruction and advice in the state of Georgia. Melissa and Andrew really know their stuff and operate a high quality program with courtesy and respect for the beginner, intermediate and advanced students. I have had the best learning experience on the guitar with Luke Yanders as my instructor and mentor. He is both patient and knowledgeable. I am glad to write this review in praise of Music Authority and their instructional and office staff. read more

My children and I have all benefitted from the instruction and helpful staff at Music Authority. I've been taking guitar lessons with Andrew Hughes for a few months now. He is as patient and understanding as he is talented and thorough. Andrew consistently finds ways to help me learn in a way that's best for my style and doesn't rely on a single training method. The quality of the instruction at Music Authority for guitar, voice, and piano is amazing! read more

I'm so glad my daughter takes guitar lessons at Music Authority. The owners Melissa and Andrew have such passion and a commitment to the success of all the kids. Shawn Jacoby is a very knowledgeable teacher; he makes my 15 year old want to be a better musician. The twice-yearly rock shows give all interested kids a chance to perform in a real band. My kids have greatly enjoyed taking guitar/ukulele lessons at Music Authority for over a year now. George Marlow (my son's instructor) and Lauren Isenberg/Savannah Hughes (my daughter's instructors) have been great teachers. My son says, "George is even forgiving when I didn't really practice that week" (something we need to work on). My daughter started out on Guitar but is now enjoying playing her Ukulele (and so is her family). read more
