Sounds like they have good people at the stores, but my online experience showed laughable incompetence on multiple levels. After waiting weeks for my order, the wrong item was shipped. After multiple calls (waiting ±30min on hold each time) I was variously told 1) to return-ship the item at my own expense; 2) to speak with my sales agent; 3) that I would receive a prepaid UPS label by email (never arrived). No one responded to my multiple emails. As of now, I'm out about $60 plus hours of my time trying to get some basic customer service. read more

End of an era and I'm glad that this place closed down! Come to think of it, I'm glad M&A is declining as a company given how incompetent and out of touch those at the top really are. When your workers tell you that it would be a great idea to invest in a repair technician, maybe you should heed those words and push to look for a talented and efficient repairman. Instead, you chose to brush asunder feedback and say, "eh, you don't get enough repair customers based on our excel sheets." Yet, after rental season year after year, we had to send a MAJORITY of those customers off to Jim's because the 6-7 month wait for their instrument is just too ridiculous a concept and these customers needed a quick fix. Still on the topic of repair technicians, you really did dirty the repair technician that was acquired after purchase of Gard's. Basically insulting his skills and intelligence, requiring him to be transferred to the Anaheim store because his repairs weren't up to your "standards". The customers that were serviced by him never complained and when he went "missing" for sometime, they always asked "where's [name redacted]?" Very sad. Time spent trying to acquire more and more music stores, gobbling up the competition, sinking your teeth in, squirming your tentacles within the crevices of every inch of breathable available space, could've been spent training and making your workforce more efficient and comfortable, not restless and faces cast down. With regards to the employees that were acquired, only two of you were worthy co-workers and the three others can rot in the deepest pits. This gang of three should've been canned before the acquisition but unfortunately because of an agreement, they stayed. They were some of the most narcissistic, unfriendly, no personality types you could ever come across. There was this one that thought so highly of himself, it was unbearable. Not only that, but he talked behind people's backs, even those who happened to be "friends" with this individual. He was so let down because he didn't get recognition from the District Manager as opposed to the veteran sales associate from Gard's, when we had our first meeting where all the stores in the Southern California area converged, it was hilarious! What a blow hard! Baby Faced, smug, anti-social personality type that had a problem with me. There are things I would say, I'll withhold them. What I will say is that customers really didn't like you. You were always standoffish and had a fake personality. I've talked to prior associates and teachers that worked at the Glendora store, they all have the same universal opinions about you. Miss manager, you should've never been given that position. You tried getting me fired because I held you accountable and in the end you got struck down by HR. The worst part of it all was when yours truly went on a furlough, you didn't BOTHER to mention that you gave me a warning about the unlocked "front door entrance" aka the gate. What a slimy little rodent you are. All in all, the company is very nearsighted and doesn't recognize home grown leadership to make the company strong and resilient. What am I talking about? They believe in the faulty notion of "infinite growth". There's no such thing, eventually it all comes down like a house of cards. I actually take back what I said, I'm not glad the place closed down. Wanna know why? Because before your greedy company got its dirty soul sucking hands on it, it was a nice business that served the general area in music, lessons, instruments, accessories etc... When I went there for the first time eons ago, my experience was with a wide eyed expression and a mouth that mimed the word, "WOW". Of course, the original owner of the joint was a piece of excrement and is freezing in the coldest depths of the underworld, but he had passed long since and it was under a different owner. Your former district manager always talked about creating the experience for the customer, especially the younger ones. This was farthest from the truth and their words were aired through the silvered tongue of a serpent. I believe the only crappy thing about Gard's being sold to M&A is that the closing of the store went out with a whimper rather than a bang. As a former customer I don't say this as a good send off, rest in peace. read more

I have been taking my son for drum lessons with Mr. Marco for about 6 months. Mr. Marco is a great instructor! The lessons are well planned out and are helpful to learn incrementally. Whenever I have needed to make time/day adjustments to a lesson due to change of plans, I've always been accommodated. Overall great experience. Highly recommend. read more

Was once a good music school then they made multiple changes to policy without notifying the clients. Only stayed as long as I did because of Cerci the music teacher (she left as well due to horrible management). I gave advance notice (4 weeks) and called in multiple times (at least 3 times) informing them that I am stopping the lessons. They promised I wouldn't be charged after my daughter's last lesson but of course I was charged. When I called for my money back, was originally told no more than 1 week. What a surprise...I didn't get my money so now it is at least 3 weeks. DO NOT COME HERE! Do not waste your time on broken promises and lies. read more

WHAT HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE. We rented a saxophone for my son to try, and when we returned it, I asked that the overweight clerk with long curly black hair and black glasses to sign the receipt just to say we did return it and he was the one who accepted the return. He was a total jerk, gave me attitude, and was not polite at all. I was simply asking for his signature proving we returned the saxophone. He scratched on the paper with arrogance and said that's it. It's unreadable, and his attitude was horrible. HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE!!! I am a professional musician and play 6 instruments. I have never met anyone with worse manners. He should be written up. I have a ton of musical needs for my students and my band mates, but I am never going into this store again! A simple request, and this idiot couldn't do the appropriate thing. What kind of business allows instruments to be returned and no one accepting the responsibility for the return? Sadly, the customer service left when Gards Music left. read more

About 6 years ago I brought a recorder in and asked for a thumb rest for it. Instead of ordering the $5 removable factory thumb rest which was made for that model, they installed an ill-fitting 3rd-party metal thumb rest with screws that are so long that they protrude inside the barrel, so that if the thumb rest were ever removed, it would leave holes in the barrel. Worse, they charged me $65 for this junky little metal piece and the 5 minutes of labor to install it. When I complained, they blew me off. I will never go back there. I see that they've been acquired by Music & Arts, which resulted in a name change, but it sounds like it's still the same folks running the store, so my review will stand. read more

The customer service I received at this store was fine given the circumstances. The review is for my overall experience ordering from Music and Arts. I ordered two items that, according to the order page, were supposed to be shipped to this store and ready for pick up within 2-7 days. One item was ready the next day, but it took 3 weeks for the rest of my order to arrive. When I went to pick my order up, the first item was present, but the second item, a cello mute, was not in its packaging. I waited three weeks for an empty bag. If I had known that it would have taken three weeks to be disappointed, I would have rather have taken five minutes to look in the mirror. An Edit: It took five years after their technicians set up my cello for me to realize that they cut my bridge too low and wide to accommodate the mute that I had to purchase elsewhere, and they placed my bridge too close to the fingerboard. This was disappointment that was five years in the making. I definitely will not be going back. read more

I would give this place zero stars if I could, we enrolled my daughter in 4 vocal lessons and told them that is all we wanted. They proceeded to charge us as if we enrolled her in a recurring monthly lesson. As soon as I saw my card being charged I called them pointed out a mistake and asked for a refund. They told me it was their error and they were going to fix it. Two weeks later nothing, I called back and they said they were backed up with their refunds but they would take care of it. Two more weeks I called back still same excuse. I give them another week and call back again, this time if I didn't get a refund I would just call my credit card company and reverse the charge. Of course nothing happened so that's what I did. Now I get in the mail a past due notice and a notice from a collections company hired by Music and Arts. I recently rented an instrument from this place be careful with credit card transactions. They charged my card twice when I called they gave me a customer service number. I called to dispute the second charge and they gave me a hard time couldn't understand the lady on the phone she had a very bad accent. She argued with me that I had two instruments. The day I signed up for my son the employee said something happened in the system and he had to start all over after he charged my credit card. So that's where the second charge comes in he opened two accounts. "Customer Service" said I would get the refund in 4-5 days well it's been 2 weeks. I have been coming to CRAIG DURST for 2 years and it there would be a 10 stars I would give him 10 stars. Craig has initially started with my oldest son and he literally transformed my son's playing (sax). I'm sure we couldn't have found a better man for the job. Happened completely by chance. Craig saw talent in Collin and pushed him toward perfection. Collin worked hard and is always excited for his next lesson, always leaves with a huge smile and a fist bump from Craig. Collin, thanks to Craig, is always the strongest performer in all the bands in which he performs. Although he is only a freshman in high school, he has an incredibly bright future thanks to Craig.
