This review is specifically for the bathrooms. Whoever is in charge of cleaning this mall clearly doesn't care since every time you walk in, the place smells bad and you'll see trash overflowing from the cans. Anyways, about the bathrooms. These bathrooms are NASTY! They smell horrible and there's always unflushed feces along with garbage everywhere. The homeless population always uses these plus all the tourists especially around Halloween time since every other place either doesn't have bathrooms or they do, but they force you to buy something first and they're forced to come to Witch Shitty Mall to use the bathroom. This place should be seriously renovated as even their stores are pathetic and expensive. What an embarrassment to the city of Salem and I will never return here again. read more

Museum Place was a nightmare, but a necessity for a bathroom stop. Unfortunately, we couldn't find a quick bathroom anywhere else, so we walked in here, because from the outside it doesn't really appear that bad. This place was not clean. Like, not just the bathrooms, but the entire place. No one is keeping this place up. Also it exhibits some of the worst bathroom graffiti I've ever seen. Seriously, it was bad. It's like an abandoned mall with weird kiosks, an Asian restaurant, and a movie theater (who would go here?!) inside. If you're in the area try to avoid this place at all costs. read more

This place is no longer a mall. It used to be..and a halfway decent one at that..but no longer. This is a grave of a mall..a ghost mall..actually it maybe kinda works in a place like Salem. It's pretty creepy in there..there are some long corridors (such as the one leading to the movie theater) that I would not want to go down at night. The only reason for the extra star is that the shops that are left inside are just fine..they're trying to make the best of a terribly kept up shopping area in a very touristy part of town. Really tho..they should probably tear this place down and build some fresh shops and restaurants in its place..maybe a new movie theater even. Regardless if they don't start trying to at least maintain this place it's probably going to just fall apart anyways. read more

Museum Place - Shopping Centers Near Me - Salem, Massachusetts

I spent pretty much the entire day at the Peabody Essex across the street. It was perhaps 4:30 on a Sunday when I left. Spending the last 4 hrs going through the museum was pretty tiring. I wanted a slice of pizza before heading back to the train station. To my surprise almost all the stores in this place were closed, with the exception of the ice cream shop at the end of the building and a Thai restaurant. Are you serious? Not even sunset and the only eating options in this mall was a full service dine-in restaurant or ice cream. This was the perfect opportunity to use the monocle function on the Yelp app. I located a taco place still open down the block and got something from there instead. There must be something going on us outsiders don't know of after nightfall if most of the stores close up shop before dark. read more

This mall really is cheesy, but its anchor is CinemaSalem, the best little theater outside of the Screening Room in Newburyport. Mom also regularly gets her hair cut at Julien Hair Networx (as I do occasionally, too). So if it were just me, I could handle Salem's old school parking issues.. but managing her wheelchair here can be a problem. The mall is obviously lacking in mall security (see one of the "filtered" reviews if you need further proof), not to mention plain old good maintenance. Come on, Salem! I don't know whether to give the Museum Place Mall a 5 out of 5 for the kitsch factor or a 1 for it's general creepiness. I parked here when visiting the Peabody Essex Museum, and was greeted with no less then 5 storefronts and stands selling cheesy witch t-shirts, a novelty photo store with rifles on the walls, a few mom and pop restaurants, and an admittedly cool Wiccan-ish arts and crafts store. This place was just too surreal to pass up reviewing. read more

I only live about a half a mile away from the Museum Place, so I often visit it or just walk through to just see what's going on. Not originally being from Salem, I too get a creepy feeling but am interested in the vast history and nostalgia that this area brings. It is really a safe place to visit despite an array of many characters one may run across! The crime rate is low and the tourist's visiting the area, especially in late September through October is vast! Many bargains may be found if shopping for a Salem t-shirt or two also! read more

Salems Haunted House-Nightmare Factory They say its Salem's oldest haunted house. Great attraction, actors know what they are doing. While there I saw they tone it way down for a child, and way up for all adults. Best attraction in Salem in my point of view!! Way more scary than wax museum and witch village. Mid season rates $7 adults and $5 for kids, they will go up for halloween... I asked! read more

I took a trip to Salem for jury duty at Salem district court. I parked at the parking garage the court recommends on my summons. I really had to go to the bathroom before, so I went into the Museum place mall. A man directed me to the restroom. I went down a corridor, where I passed a group of obviously homeless people hanging out outside the bathroom. I really had to go, so I ignored this: big mistake. As I enter the bathroom, spray painted graffiti is everywhere. I move toward the toilet stall, but I see large drops of blood all over the floor. It even splattered onto the wall. I look toward the toilet and see a needle next to it, as well as feces on the toilet seat. I go to wash my hands and find that only a trickle of water comes out of the faucet! And the soap dispenser is empty! One of the homeless men from outside comes in to brush his teeth, and tells me this is the norm. It was like being in a third world country. I must add that there are several food service establishments in this mall. read more
