Sassy, saucy and a little sleazy, exactly how I like my history. This is the E! network of museum tours. Cut the boring stuff, because we're keeping up with Louis XVI of France's Court. Oh, you're too good for this are you? You turn your nose up because you're a historical purist are you? Well then you must be fun at parties and I say that sarcastically because this party is not for you. Bye! I want to know what's up with Marie Antoinette's gilded silk and velvet doghouse. I want to know about ancient fart jokes. Frankly I need a break from describing key features of the USSR re-established control in Czechoslovakia. Jen and Sean are awesome. We had so much fun running around the Met, fixing botched restoration works. Yes, you read that right. We did a damn good job of it too. Please refer to image for reference. So put on some comfy sneakers and get historical!

I love the Met. I LOVE museums. This tour with museum hack, made this trip to the met the MOST FUN one I've ever had! We had the museum hack for a friends bachelorette party (talking dirty side of history here, people). And it was absolutely perfect. Our tour guides were Lia and Sarah, they are AMAZING- highly recommend them if you can. Their energy, timing, amazing puns, and style MADE this trip. A very awesome way to see a different side of art! Go do this!

with Museum Hack, you end up finding a reason to care about pieces, like this one, that you would otherwise overlook!

Museum Hack is the most ideal for: -Clever, Spontaneous, and Social people -Interested in Art but NOT Interested in Being Bored -Looking to Brag About Something to Their Friends We were there for about 2 hours, which was precisely the right length of time. (Go pee before). Group size was about 6 people. We covered pieces of art or sculptures that had interesting backstories or were fascinatingly similar to our modern age. Think: beer and drugs and cannibalism! I was with my father, so don't think that this tour is necessarily "naughty." Rather, this tour felt like I was running through the Met with my super clever, super hilarious, and highly intelligent friend. Another woman pointed out that the tour does not cover the "big" pieces. This is to say, the pre-prescribed "important" pieces that everyone who goes to the met robotically attends to. This is true, we ran right past Van Gogh's Self Portrait. However, this did NOT detract from the experience at all. I learned and saw the artwork that I would have never thought to spend time with. I went to sections of the museum that I probably would not have visited. Not to mention--thanks to the confident energy of the tour guide--the whole group interacts with each other! The people walking next to you aren't stuffy strangers. Highly Recommend! "There is no such thing as a weird human being. It's just that some people require more understanding than others."--"Another Roadside Attraction, Tom Robbins

Tour #2 today with Museum Hack: the Bada$$ B*tches Tour. Kate was our tour guide...a feminist with spunk, heart, and knowledge! Just some of the things you will learn/encounter: - a new appreciation for full figured beauties (take a bow Steatopygous female figure) - how poporos may have had "cruel intentions" - be enraptured by a lady named Lillith - an introduction to a wall of lovely lady parts There were also fun activities interspersed into the tour which included photography and thought bubbles! As the website says "dismantle the patriarchy!"

If you're looking for a fun, interesting and new way to see the MET, Museum Hack Tours are for you. My friend and I took a tour of the MET the other day with tour guide Ben, who was AMAZING, and had the best time. We learned things about the MET that we never knew and probably wouldn't have if it weren't for Ben. Did you know that The Met has an unofficial mascot? I didn't...his name is William the Hippo(love him). We spent two hours with Ben, saw so many cool and interesting things, laughed a lot and learned a lot too. I will definitely use Museum Hack again for my next Museum tour. THANKS MH!!!

I saw works I never noticed before and even visited rooms I had never been in before -- which with even dozens of previous museum visits is understandable, given the Met's hundreds of galleries and easily more than 10,000 works on display. Absolutely LOVED this tour!…read more I read about it recently as it was mentioned in O Magazine which is Oprah Winfrey's Magazine and I knew that I HAD to do a short trip from Chicago to NYC to take this signature and insightful tour lead by Professor Andrew Lear! Dr. Lear is the Founder and Master Guide of the Shady Lady Tours and is a leading scholar in the area of the history of sexuality. There were seven people in my group and we met at the Metropolitan Museum of Art (MET) in front of the Giant Pharaoh in the main lobby. Dr. Lear then distributed the entrance tickets and the Nasty Women of the MET Tour commenced. The Nasty Women of the MET focuses on the "[f]eisty, path-breaking women--women who had more power and/or independence than we usually think women in the past had." (According to Dr. Lear's Web Site). I saw many works of art that I probably would not have spent a lot of time exploring on my own..but Dr. Lear provided "the backstory" of each painting, sculpture, vessel, statue, and cultural artifacts that were explored. I have to admit that my favorites included the Gertrude Stein painting in which she was painted by Pablo Picasso and it took about 90 sittings to complete! I find her intriguing. I also was fascinated by the Female Pharaoh Hatshepsut of Egypt who ruled 1500 years before Cleopatra....in the Egyptian Wing. Hatshepsut's statue shows her dressed in female attire, "[b]ut she wears the nemes headcloth, a royal attribute usually reserved for the reigning king." (As listed in the MET's formal description of her statue sitting on the throne). The final stop was the John Singer Sargent portrait of a young woman Edith Minturn from the mid 1860s. While the artist's choice was a request that Ms. Minturn dress in an evening gown during the sitting she showed up in a two piece outfit in which her skirt did not touch the floor-but her shoes were readily seen. Her husband stands behind her and she smiles vibrantly as if she "knows" that she has clout, class, and authority as well as individuality. FYI-her husband stood in for Ms. Minturn's Great Dane when the dog became unavailable to sit for the portrait. The stories and featured art that is/was explored on this tour were exceptional and as diverse as the "Nasty Women" that were peppered throughout the MET. I would like to return to attend the "Shady Lady Tour." Truly impressive tour, well paced (2 hours) with an entertaining and educational experience provided by Dr. Lear.

I say this as someone who doesn't really like art, but does in the way that he teaches it. It's amazing to me hearing about who the paintings or sculptures are actually of and the story that goes with them. Cool tidbit: The goddess Aphrodite was supposed to be executed but her lawyer pulled her top off exposing her boobs and then they acquitted her LOL. The Paris tour looks amazing as well but don't think I would ever be able to do it. In any case, if you want to go to the MET because you feel that you should but find art zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz, take this tour. Two hours of showing you interesting pieces. We booked a premium, full-service package for a team-building afternoon, but instead of relaxing, my team spent the entire time stressing, moving boxes, and cleaning up after the staff we hired. We aren't trying to be difficult clients; we simply wanted the service we paid for. Instead, we faced a massive burden: The setup was chaotic and late: For a group our size, the policy is a 40-80 minute setup window. The facilitator didn't show up until 1:33 PM for a 2:00 PM start. Her assistant didn't arrive until after the event started. We were left watching the clock, wondering if our event was even going to happen. We had to manage their logistics: The assistant arrived late and without ID. Since we are in a secure office building, she couldn't get in. Instead of the vendor handling this, my team had to stop what they were doing, leave the event space, and go down to the lobby to retrieve her and haul up the supplies she was carrying. Dismissive attitude: Mistakes happen, but the facilitator's attitude made it worse. She was dismissive about being late and shockingly unhelpful regarding her own assistant's supplies. At one point, when asked about the materials her assistant brought, she refused to help, telling us she "couldn't hang onto that." It felt like we were imposing on her, rather than the other way around. My team did the physical labor: Because they were so behind, the setup wasn't done until 2:30 PM--30 minutes into our paid time. To save the event, my colleagues and I had to step in and physically unpack boxes, set up stations, and distribute materials. We paid for a full-service event but ended up doing the heavy lifting ourselves. Contract issues: We paid extra for the "all new supplies" option so our team could keep their materials. Despite this, the facilitator packed up and took many of the paints and brushes back with her. They walked out on the mess: Despite the event starting late due to their tardiness, the facilitator refused to stay a minute past 4:00 PM. She started aggressively cleaning up while people were still painting, then bolted out the door right at 4:00, leaving us to finish the cleanup and break down the boxes. I cannot recommend this vendor. We paid for a fun, stress-free afternoon and instead received a chaotic experience where we had to work as the setup and cleanup crew.
