Had a great time on the Getty tour with Vic! She had funny, unexpected stories about the art, and she really brought the museum alive. The tour was super small, so she catered to what we were most interested in. I would highly recommend these tours to anyone visiting!

Our group of 12 was signed up by Renaissance club with Ellen for a private tour in the Getty museum. She was welcoming and so full of knowledge even about the design of the building infrastructure and architecture. Then the detail about each piece of art that we stopped to see were definitely tidbits that left me planning to read more on my own later because it was so interesting. The tour is with light walking and standing around each art but there are soft cushioned chairs in most of the gallery rooms to rest if you're tired. When we were finished I didn't want the tour to end, I wanted to hear more and more! I truly enjoyed this tour and I would love to return for another tour for the other areas of the Getty! Once the tour was over I stayed to peruse the bottom floor where the photo gallery was located but it's not the same quietly moving along looking at things on your own as it is to have a guide giving you such interesting bits of information! If you're thinking about visiting the Getty Museum I definitely recommend getting a tour with Quick Culture! Thank you Ellen for such an engaging experience!

She and her girlfriends are all huge art appreciators and museum goers. I thought a "behind the scenes" art tour would be right up her alley. I consider myself pretty plugged in to the LA art scene - however, I was referred to a company that I had never heard of - ART MUSE LA. Art Muse Los Angeles is a community of art historians, artists and educators who offer small groups private art tours - in museums, galleries, artist studios and private collections - throughout the LA region. What a stroke of luck! I was put in touch with Clare Kunny, the owner and Director. She was incredibly charming, smart, and approachable on the phone. I told her I was looking for a curated art tour, something more than your typical museum docent tour. She emailed me with several fantastic, diverse ideas. I opted for a two-hour tour with a theme around women in the arts. Our guide, Susan Power, was incredibly knowledgeable. She highlighted contributions to American art of the LA-NYC gallerist Virginia Dwan at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art. Then we walked across the street to Spruth Magers gallery to tour the exhibition POWER displaying art made by African American women from the Civil War era to the present. Susan gave an in depth talk on both subjects in conjunction with her choosing select artworks that showed the strength of and vision of these women artists. My mother and her friends were blown away. She is still talking about it. If you're looking for something interesting, fun, and unique to do in LA - for a date night, for something to do for fun with friends, for a special occasion - I highly recommend checking out Art Muse LA. They are a gem in the rough. Thank you Art Muse LA for making my mother's birthday so incredibly memorable and special!

As far as the tours, you can guide yourself, get audio devices for a guided tour and there are staff ready to answer your questions if needed. The staff is friendly and professional. I never really know how to write reviews for museums because I'm not someone who can effortlessly…read moreanalyze art and start speaking in poetic paragraphs but I do love the Getty & just wanted to share my experiences so far. I've visited the Getty several times over the years and at first I found it a little overwhelming because there are so many exhibits and paintings that it's hard knowing where to even begin. Eventually I decided to make a game out of my visits instead. I started using ChatGPT to give me lists of paintings to look for, questions to ask myself while observing them, facts about the artwork, and prompts about what I do and don't like about each piece. Weirdly enough, that completely transformed my experience at the museum and made each visit feel much more intentional instead of me just wandering around aimlessly pretending to understand everything. Highly recommend trying this if you're someone who enjoys museums but doesn't necessarily feel "educated" in art. As a huge Van Gogh fan, I was shocked to learn that his painting Irises is actually displayed here. I had seen some of his work at MoMA in New York City and somehow never realized one of his paintings was practically in my own backyard. If you love Van Gogh, definitely don't miss it. I also personally enjoy exploring the North Pavilion the most because it's where many of the religious paintings are located. The gardens are absolutely beautiful and probably one of the most photographed parts of the museum for good reason. Great spot for pictures, especially if you enjoy Instagram-worthy scenery. There are also several areas throughout the Getty where you get gorgeous views overlooking Los Angeles. The Getty also has two restaurants, several cafés/coffee carts, and recently added a lounge bar around the plaza level. The food is decent but definitely expensive (which honestly shouldn't surprise anyone at this point). The café areas sell salads, sandwiches, pita and dip plates, pastries, snacks, coffee, and alcoholic beverages. Personally, I don't think the salads are worth the $18-$19 price tag, so I usually just grab coffee, snacks, or occasionally a small bottle of champagne and save my actual appetite for afterward. One thing I appreciate is that they have charging stations in the entrance hall in case your phone is dying halfway through your visit. There are also multiple gift shops throughout the museum with a pretty wide variety of books, souvenirs, stationery, art prints, and gifts. I think weekdays are probably best if you want smaller crowds, but I usually go on Saturdays because the museum stays open until 9 PM and parking becomes free after 6 PM on Saturdays specifically. Otherwise, parking is usually around $25, though reduced rates kick in later in the afternoon. A few tips in case you plan to visit for the first time: - Bring a sweater or coat because it can get surprisingly cold and windy. - Download the Getty app beforehand so you have the map available. - Wear comfortable shoes because you will walk a lot. - And don't pressure yourself to "understand" every piece of art. Some aren't going to stand out to you and that's okay. - Be ready for traffic. The downside of the museums location is that it's smack next to one of the worst freeways known to man -- the dreaded 405.

Once in Cuba we met our Cuban guide, Manny, who stayed with us for the duration of the trip. Manny's knowledge of Cuban history was very impressive. The trip included all hotels, transportation, tours and most meals. We started in Havana and loved our Hotel, the Malia Cohiba. R and R had activities planned for us around the clock. We toured a Cuban cigar factory (I bought a few cigars...), went to a couple of the local synagogues in Havana, brought needed items to donate to the local pharmacies and then I went to a baseball game. We stayed in Havana for a few glorious days and then boarded our air conditioned motor coach and went to Cien Fuegos. This city is on a bay so of course the ladies planned a bay cruise with cocktails and cigars, it was great! We then went to Trinidad, the oldest city in Cuba. Trinidad is frozen in time with cobblestone roads and the people still use horse and buggies. We were then taken to where the Bay of Pigs invasion took place. It was eye opening.
