Muse is a great place to find jewelry and gifts. A friend of mine who makes jewelry recommended visiting Muse when my husband and I were looking for wedding rings. I am so glad she did! The first time my husband and I went to Muse we were immediately greeted warmly by Elizabeth, Muse's owner. I had looked at every wedding and engagement ring on Muse's website before walking in the door but really needed to see things in person to appreciate the detailed work and high quality craftsmanship. I might have tried on nearly everything in the main display case that was my size before settling on a ring I love. Elizabeth was endlessly patient as I considered each option and did not try to up-sell me when I was trying to choose between the ring we bought and one that was much more expensive. There weren't many rings in stock that were my husband's size but he was able to pick out a design he liked and try on a similar ring style then order his ring to be custom made. The ring I liked was available in the store but in a different color of gold than the one I wanted so my ring was made just for me, too. It is so nice to be able to get exactly what you are seeking and know you are supporting craftspeople that are doing great work either in the area or elsewhere in the US. We put down a deposit on our rings before we left and just a few weeks later Elizabeth called to say our rings were ready. We were both very pleased with the quality of the work and that we got precisely what we ordered. I'm glad to report that after 10 months we both still comment on how much we like the rings we have. I'd say that's a good thing since the idea is to wear them every day for the rest of our lives. :) read more

Muse is a gem of a shop. "American handcrafted jewelry" is Muse's thing, and Elizabeth (the owner and friendly face that usually greets you) curates it beautifully, every piece chosen with intention. It's the simplicity and elegance of the space that allows the jewelry to speak for itself, displayed in modern glass cases with simple accents and cards of information about the designers. Many of the designers showcased are local and RISD alums, others are scattered around the country, but Elizabeth knows each of them and their process intimately, which she makes transparent. This is art that you wear - makes sense to celebrate that! No, it's not cheap, but it's also not "cheap" - it's special. I noticed on Muse's website that they had wedding rings, so my now-husband and I sauntered in to take a peek pre-engagement. I loved a designer who casted rings from natural objects and so my husband secretly returned solo and partnered with the owner to come up with some slight shifts on the sample to suit my tastes, and she in turn worked with the designer to make it happen! Through the process of making and purchasing the other wedding bands - consistently stellar, personal service. Muse moved a couple of doors down the block in the past year; now they share the storefront with the like-minded Modern Printed Matter. Smart biz move and gorgeous stuff on both sides. read more

I heart* Muse. *(unfortunately I cannot use the carrot character to create the symbol of a heart in the review!)* I also often call it "the Muse" instead of "Muse" which makes people think I am referring to the South County beer and burger establishment the Mews. No beer or burgers here - just beautiful and locally crafted jewelry, art, and other odds and ends. I took care of quite a few items off my 2010 Christmas list here, which included my niece - 7 months old. I purchased this amazing bottle - which converted into a sippy cup, dishwasher safe, and free of those nasty chemicals (I wish I could remember the acronym... BPA, PBA, BTB??). It was also a really cool design. My niece loved it as much as a 7, now 11-month old, could and her parents loved it even more. What was even better - and this is what stood out to me - the woman working that day, who I assumed was the owner, Elizabeth, told me that she used the same bottle for her daughter - and showed me a picture of her daughter using it! It happened after I was already at the register, so it was not an attempt at a pressure sale. It simply reaffirmed my decision. If you love jewelry - especially unique pieces... set a time limit or you'll never walk away. Worth the trip to Warren! read more

Super cute little shop filled with interesting but not overly ornate jewelry. This is NOT Alex & Ani (thank god). Muse offers beautiful, unique pieces by really talented local (and not so local) artists. They have stuff you can wear every day as well as more fancy pieces for weddings and other events. The atmosphere here is very friendly and not stuffy at all. The owner, Elizabeth, was so so nice, and even offered to contact one of the designers for me (Carla Caruso) to see if she can make one of her pieces in a different metal. This is one of my most favorite stores to buy jewelry and gifts at! They always have new types of jewelry and its all hand crafted so it is one of a kind and is not made cheaply. Muse was one of the first shops recommended to me when I moved to Warren last year, and I fell in love immediately. Elizabeth (the owner) is very friendly and welcoming, as are the other staff. Elizabeth has selected the most beautiful items for her store. Everything is made in America, and to quote the Lego movie, everything is awesome. Muse is my first stop if I need a baby shower gift. The cutest little onesies, blankets and bibs with beautiful prints, wooden toys, and lovely art pieces for the nursery. I think you can even create a gift registry with Muse! Aside from baby gifts, there is beautiful, affordable art prints. I always love what Elizabeth has on display and always want to buy everything! It's a great store to check out if you need a unique gift for someone... I think most of the gifts I've bought in the last year have come from Muse. I almost never write reviews, but I felt I had to on this one. I had been searching for an engagement ring for almost 3 months. I'm extremely picky (as is my now wife!), so I wanted to get something that wasn't from the cheescake factory of jewelery stores. I stumbled on MUSE online, and loved the fact that not only is the jewelry all made by local artists, but the prices seemed much more reasonable then other stores I had been to. I decided to make the drive out there, and having never been to Warren RI, wasn't sure what to expect. When I got to the store it was exactly as I had hoped. As a male, in no way did I feel intimidated by shelves and shelves of gold jewelery with crazy price tags like I had previously. The feel was incredibly relaxing, and simple. I also didn't feel like I had to "flex my wallet" so it seemed like I belonged. The woman working there helped me right away, was incredibly patient and kind, didn't make me feel like i was being sold a used car, but instead understood exactly what I was looking for. I didn't buy anything the first time I went, but knew this was the place to find my ring. After several more visits and discussions, I had made my choice, and could not have been happier. I still find my wife admiring her finger from time to time, and she loved the ring so much she demanded I take her to MUSE where she has since made many more purchases. I almost don't want other people to know about this place, but I wanted to express my gratitude for all the great help I recieved. I used to go there when I lived in Boston, now I shop there online, and they also made a list of things I like so that my husband can just call up and order something easily for a special occasion. It is really great to shop at a place that you know is supporting American artists, and get something very unique and beautiful at the same time. No one will have what you're wearing, but they'll want it! It is obvious that every item is picked very carefully by the owner, because everything is so special and different than anything you've seen before. My engagement ring is from there, it was custom made, which is really cool, because I know it was made just for me. My husband said that the owner, Elizabeth, was really helpful during the whole process of creating the ring. Anytime that I have gone there or ordered something online or by phone she has also been very helpful to me.
