    I've been a loyal StarWhite Dental patient for years, thousands spent on procedures, cleanings, and…read moresurgeries, and I've never experienced anything as unprofessional as what happened today. I called in advance to confirm my appointment and make sure my account was in good standing. I was also planning to renew the dental plan, which their own website clearly shows as eligible for renewal. Instead, the front desk representative spoke to me with an attitude that was unnecessarily rude, dismissive, and condescending from the very first minute. She insisted the renewal plan "no longer exists" and demanded full payment upfront, contradicting the information on their website. When I explained I could pay the $100 now and the remaining $40 next week, something I've responsibly done in the past with their full support, she refused without a second thought. No accommodation. No courtesy. No respect. And while I was literally checking my account for additional funds to resolve the situation, she cancelled my appointment behind my back, reassigned it to someone else, and did not even bother to notify me. Then, to make the situation even more absurd, she charged me a $50 cancellation fee, for an appointment she herself cancelled while I was still on the phone trying to pay. You cannot make this up. This wasn't a simple misunderstanding; it was a complete disregard for a long-standing patient. I only wanted a cleaning with Liz before she retires at the end of December. These appointments are hard to get. Instead, I walked away with no appointment, a $50 charge, and one of the most disrespectful customer service experiences I've had in years. After everything I've invested here over the years, this level of treatment is unacceptable. It's a shame to see a good history ruined by front desk behavior like this. I don't want anyone else to go through what I experienced, and at this point, I'm not sure I'll be returning to StarWhite Dental again. Thanks, Joe Laporta

Second of all, all of the staff is extremely kind. I had two wisdom teeth taken out and they were so kind to me. I was fairly anxious and they were very reassuring. They answered all of my questions afterwards and the doctor even gives his personal number to every patient that he does this procedure on so you can go straight to the source with any concerns. They went above and beyond with accommodating my husband and I's financial situation. I am so grateful and amazed at the level of care I received. I also have a one year old daughter and they interact with her and that is such a sweet and touching thing for me. I highly recommend this place.

I had phase 1 of 2 part phase to get an implant. They removed the decayed tooth. So far this has been a good experience. They did the procedure and I had clear instructions on what to do. They prepare me for the worse case scenario but my recovery has been great. First day very little pain and I could have just used regular Tylenol. 2nd day no pain just a little sore. This was a better experience than the last time I had an extraction from an oral surgeon in Huntington Beach a few years ago. It took a week for the pain to subside. Which was a more expensive place. My only complaint was sometimes it was hard for me to get a hold of the office for the appointment. But once your on the line it was all smooth.

    I saw Andrew Tibbitts a couple of months after suffering a burst fracture of the thoracic spine…read more Spinal fractures take a long time to heal (recovery can take a year or more). I couldn't wash my feet during those days (bending was dangerous, + even breathing was very painful). During one of my visits, I heard the doctor and his colleague laughing about "she's pretty but her feet smell" (Tibbitts KNEW about my recent spinal fracture! I wish you had the same hard experience, Andrew Tibbitts and your fancy colleague). When Tibbitts installed one of the crowns on my front teeth, it turned out to be too short (all the years after this, the partially naked tooth was/is sensitive and at increased risk of cavities because the upper part of the tooth became exposed). During my last visit, while placing a crown, Tibbitts pressed it TERRIBLY hard with his muscular arms--he practically leaned his entire large body on my poor head and neck! I moaned in intense pain. My neck hurt so much afterward--the pain was comparable to the spinal fracture (10 out of 10)! But neither dr Tibbitts nor his assistant noticed that I was clearly in a lot of pain. I'm not a whiner; on the contrary, I've always tended to downplay my pain for myself and others. Dr Tibbitts even praised me for my patience (due to an allergy to anesthetics, I was given less anesthesia or none at all--I asked about this). I think he damaged one of the tiny bones of one of the vertebrae in my cervical spine near the base of my skull. My neck hurt terribly for MONTHS afterward! I was forced to wear a special brace for several months (in SoCal hot summer). When I left that office (for good), I told his assistant that my neck was now in a lot of pain--it seemed the doctor had damaged something there. After this, I heard the assistant told dr Tibbitts I was crazy and that I didn't have a thoracic spinal fracture, which I mentioned before (should I send an MRI and X-rays as evidence for the gaslighting assistant?)

I called to request a CLEANING and was never told that the first visit is consultation only; I would've steered clear! In their lengthy paperwork I filled out, I clearly stated that I had to leave my beloved dentist due to an insurance change and the out of pocket charge was now too much: this should've *double* prompted them to explain that they are a luxury dentist, not an economy dentist. (I have no issue per se with luxury dentists; it's just not what I was looking for.) I CLEARLY STATED THAT I WAS THERE FOR A CLEANING. What I got was a lengthy consultation, which, yes, was very time generous; something I would have appreciated greatly if I were a trust fund baby. But I'm not. So I ended up spending $200 for a written quote for a 5-office visit that would cost $1600 (total) out of pocket. Wuuuuuuuuut? Then they sent me home, WITH NO CLEANING, after arguing with me that every patient needs a fluoride treatment, and that if I were against root canals, that "we were not a match." [Ok, finally something I could agree with!] Again, they just should've explained their approach upfront, when I asked for a cleaning, and a cleaning only. Then there would have been no problem. Post script: I obviously needed to be steered towards finding an IN NETWORK dentist... which I did, after this expensive mistake. And what a good move! My new, in-network dentist got me in the very next day. My cleaning cost me nothing out-of-pocket, not a cent, and their plan for going forward is going to cost me less than 500 out-of-pocket, for everything they do this whole year. (And they only push fluoride onto kids "who don't brush well"...and no root canal will be involved!) It was just an expensive dumb mistake on my part -- but they could've avoided it all when I just made that first phone call for a cleaning. This is what upsets me. Again, I'm sure Dr Diez is a lovely dentist for the privileged, who expect top notch catering, and have ample time and money to invest.
