Well they have a boat ramp into the water. They have a golf course..that's it..No picnic area, no bathrooms, no playgrounds..so we went on down the road to where it dead ends and loops into a parking lot area at the lake.. That's it.. I really wouldn't call it a State Park. There is some historical value here but NO signs or trails..nothing to tell you about it. I guess you have to look it up on the internet to find out any information about it. The lake was pretty though and we did stop to take a couple of photos and saw a guy in a row boat catch a fish.. Maybe there is something we missed? We will have to check it out another day..

Bath house near lakefront camping has bathrooms but no shower. The lake front camping spots are gravel and are going to be rough on your tarp/tent/airmattress/feet. Happy Hollow looks fantastic and I definitely would've loved to stay there. They have hook-ups, bathrooms, and showers. There is no longer a playground at happy hallow like it shows on the map and lists on the website. We went to Eva Beach recreation area and there is a playground there but it's about a 12 minute drive from the campgrounds. The recreation area had a sandy beach, but a foul smell and the water was very dirty. There are 2 large factories that make a humming noise that can be heard from the campgrounds and constantly seeing the large plumes of smoke from them on both sides of the lake ruins the nature side of things. The cabins were nice. Lakefront camping spots are not kid friendly - lake on one side and a road that people fly down on the other. I personally wouldn't recommend this park especially for families but if you have to stay here then stay at happy hollow.

I have visited the original La Tour Eiffel in Paris France (oddly, I didn't review it), plus…read morereplicas in Paris Texas*, Paris Illinois, and the half-scale version at Paris Las Vegas Hotel and Casino**. I have also passed through Paris Missouri and New Paris Ohio, but no Eiffel Towers spotted in either. The Eiffel Tower in Paris Tennessee is a 70-foot tall 1:20 scale replica. It was originally built in 1990 by engineering students at Christian Brothers University in Memphis for the Memphis in May festival, which honored France that year. Using Gustave Eiffel's original drawings, they crafted the tower from 500 pieces of Douglas fir and 6,000 steel rods, donating over 10,000 hours of labor. When the wooden structure began to wear down, local craftsman Keith Jackson rebuilt it in steel in 2002. Today it stands proudly here in Eiffel Tower Park, surrounded by walking trails, a splash pad, a disc golf course, and more. Bienvenue à Paris, y'all. Enjoy the view from the ground. There is no going up this Eiffel Tower. Sadly a storm took out the electricity to the toy house and he isn't permitted to fix it because the electric is connected to the house and the town said he has to upgrade all the electric in the house, which he and his wife don't have the means for right now. When he had electricity a lot of the toys would move and contraptions on the property had lights and water on some of them. The toys stretch back to the 1940s. Definitely a trip down memory lane. The gentleman who owns it is very nice and came out to give us a tour and pointed out the many puns related to the displays. The little general store his grandparents ran back in the early half of the 1900s is still standing and full of interesting memorabilia and artifacts. It's donations only, no cost, but the man and his wife can use the help. If you're not a fan of weird junk art and old toys, you probably wouldn't like it. We spent about 45 minutes there.

I went in with mid level expectations, but left feeling like I could come here every Thanksgiving. It was such a peaceful and restful place to spend the holiday weekend. We rented a large cabin overlooking the lake. The views out of the back windows were beautiful and serene. It simply took the edge off of life for a bit. Anytime we needed anything, such as towels, the employees were super responsive and helpful. Additionally, since we work in public schools, the state rate for the cabins was reasonable. The Thanksgiving meal was excellent. The fried chicken stole the show, as did the sides. The spread was truly impressive. And, again, the employees were great. I would definitely come back for Thanksgiving dinner again. After that huge meal, we all needed to spend the next couple days hiking it off. The trail around the lake is really scenic and tranquil, even in the late fall. Another beautiful spectacle is the night sky. The eternal creator puts on an amazing presentation of stars on a clear night. It was super cold once the sun went down, but worth the cold to see all of the glory. It is truly difficult to wrap your mind around it all. I love our state parks. People may complain that they are dated. Whatever. I think they are great places to get away from it all. Pennyrile was never on my list, however. It definitely is now.

We first came across Pennyrile because a friend recommended it for camping. When we saw they had a lodge we felt it was like the best of both worlds to have a nature getaway without having to camp. Check in was smooth and we were given the local dinning options, which isn't much if don't want to but dinner from the kitchen. There is a Casey's about 15-20 minutes away but it's about half an hour to get to a Pizza Hut or Walmart. Breakfast buffet is included with the room and it has a normal continental. The lack of eating choices brings me to one of the dislikes about the room. There is no mini fridge or microwave in the room. So even if you brought food to cook on one of the grills they have around, there is no where to store your food or reheat it. We brought a cooler because we weren't sure if there was going to be a fridge and just utilized the ice machine a lot. While there they offer daily activities to campers and lodge guests. While we were there they were building sandcastles on the beach as well as some other activities for the kids. They also had glow mini golf in the early evening (for a fee). Now apart from the room amenities the other gripe I had was the pool. There were leaves and bugs and it didn't look like it had been cleaned for a few days. Now our visit was in mid August so there was no heavy leaf fall yet. All in all our visit was great and we do plan to return next summer.
