Through that is another strange hallway-like area with three doors, one of which is for the bathroom. It's nothing fancy, a bit run-down, but it's also in the middle of nowhere and it's functional, so I was grateful. My favorite part of the store was the bin of hammers and sledgehammers for sale.

So I walked to the dollar store down the street and used their bathroom, they had a shelf full of bleach so I bought a gallon to give to the truck stop... When I went back in today to brush my teeth, the sign was still on the door. When I asked the guy working the counter he gave me the same excuse as the previous night, after informing him I am the one who bought them bleach, he later changed his story and said it's closed to customers because they are afraid the customers will get them sick? As a truck stop I can't believe they would do this to their customers? I will never come back here!!!!

United supermarket is kinda the grocery store go-to in town. There are multiple locations, but this…read moreone is my primary. That's mostly because it has a full service Wells Fargo built right in. They have everything you expect from a grocery store and then some. There's a sushi counter, hot food you can order to eat in their seating area, and a Starbucks. Lots of fresh produce, beer and wine, deli, fish and meat market, bakery, flower market, and probably more that I'm missing. The employees are always friendly and helpful. The store stays busy and fast moving. The people walking you out to help load your car are a great unique touch.

They tell me they get a truck in every night and can only order a case of anything, and to come back the next day. I hate making multiple trips to get a sales price on an ad item. I try to go early enough in the day to get an ad item, but many times still find it out of stock. Oh, how I miss the days when Rob Snell owned and operated these stores, and how customer oriented it truly was. The staff at United are consistently friendly and seemingly caring, but their hands are tied, now that the chain is owned by Albertson's in another state. Every good thing always comes to an end.

I return to this business over and over as they never fail to make the customer feel like they're their first priority. From the minute you pull up to the moment you leave they make you feel welcome and go out the way to be helpful. Initially yesterday I had called them and asked if they were able to perform an actual pressurized transmission flush, not just a drain and fill. Moreover, I wanted to know if they would give me a price break if I brought my own transmission fluid. I own a Honda Accord that is still under warranty and using anything other than Honda ATF is a big no no. "No problem" was the response, "and sure, we have the machine necessary to do a flush, and it'll cost you $50 if you bring your own oil." For the record, this service is posted on their pricing chart as $99.99 (Honda dealer price $199.99) I showed up, was put straight on the ramp and they took care of my car in 30 mins while I waited. They also washed all the windows, fixed all the tire pressures (my low tire pressure light was on), filled-up my washer fluid bottle, and reconnected the protective plastic tray/pan that sits under the engine / transmission as it was loose and scraping on the road some times - all at no extra charge. Plus, when I checked-out, the guys gave me a $5 discount and a free calendar just because they're great service folks and want to take care of their customers. I won't take my vehicles ANYWHERE else in the Lubbock area and encourage you to give this family a chance to service your vehicles too.

It was smaller and the deli was not as good. However, the sushi was a lot better. The store did seem darker and less open than the other one, but it still had lots of good foods and even some better items. Their wine and beer selection looked more complete. They also had live lobsters and a nice meat counter with different pre-assembled meat dishes, e.g. beef and feta cheese pinwheels, peppered ribeye steak, apple stuffed chicken or turkey for roasting, etc (the 50th street has a large seafood section but no meat counter). At the 50th street one there is hardly ever any bargain/thrift food, possibly because it is busier, but at this one they had bread and all kinds of meat. I like buying the sale stuff because you can save a lot and have something tasty to put on the grill. The location is pretty far off the Loop, and there was a lot of construction in the immediate area when I went by which was a pain, plus I nearly got rearended by a driver in a big white van not paying attention on the way there (after she almost hit a red Mercury sedan too!). I will probably return in the future to the 50th street location, but this one is not bad!
