Especially as a nonprofit. However, during my experience there I noticed a few things that were a bit off putting to me as someone who loves working with animals and the community that comes with it! Such as being treated as if I were dumb/incapable during the job training, even though there was absolutely no structure going into it, it was unpaid, and I was still learning the ropes, it seemed like it was just inconvenient to them that I was there at all and towards the end of the shift one of the employees even yelled at all of the dogs to "shut up" multiple times as she cleaned. The aggression was certainly alarming. Of course, being autistic I do sometimes get in my own head about these things, but something about it just didn't feel right. Other than that, the animals were sweethearts so I don't regret the time I got to spend with them, it's just the employees were incredibly judgemental and there was no real process/organization behind the scenes for training. The hiring agent wasn't even there! So, I hope this helps anyone looking for some insight from a different perspective. I still can't believe how mean that employee was to the dogs for simply barking, as dogs tend to do.

Their first priority is the animals, where it should be. This morning my dog passed and I did not know what to do. I was here alone after a recent back surgery and did not know what to do. I emailed the animal shelter early this morning and got a quick response. They helped me take care of everything while the family was away and were incredibly compassionate and professional. I cannot say enough good things about this shelter and animal control.

The kitten was diagnosed with feline leukemia and was euthanized. The 1 year old cat contracted the leukemia from the kitten...I will lose 2 kitties over feline leukemia...Yes I learned a valuable lesson..My point is if you are looking to adopt a kitten or cat from this shelter get the kitten or cat checked 1st before taking the kitten or cat home... I thought what a waste to throw all of this away. We've passed this shelter many times on our way to Kroger. I always wondered about it. I looked up their location, read their reviews and instructions about donations. In general they have a fantastic reputation and they encourage donations anytime during business hours. My daughter & I packed up three large bags and dropped by. We were greeted by two nice people who expressed their gratitude for dropping off these items. They said it's really needed and they were so glad we thought of them. Our pain is still so over whelming that we were not good company. We sobbed the whole time. They invited us to walk around and visit the pets. They offered to let us hold them and take them out to the play area. Amazing! We stayed and visited. There was a sweet giennie pig, bunny and approximately a dozen dogs, no cats .. It was humbling to see these beautiful animals. This facility is organized, very clean, the animals are well taken care of and the people are passionate. If you're looking to adopt or donate. I highly recommend this shelter.

I like coming to a small pet store, even though the prices are a little bit higher than other…read moreplaces. I usually like the customer service and that they have the kind of kitty litter that I like to get for my cats. However, the last couple of visits have not been great. Things have been the incorrect price and although the last time after a little bit of discussion, the employee that was on duty adjusted the price and realized that it was their mistake that they marked things wrong and did not do the price change like they were supposed to. Today was a different experience. I grabbed the kitty litter from where there was a full stack and it was clearly marked 11.49 for that litter. I ring it up and it comes up 1299. I tell the employee hey this is the wrong price. It's 1149 on the aisle. She comes back and tells me she can't see where it is marked that. I take her over to the aisle and show her the full stack of seven or eight bags of kitty litter with the sign under it. This says 1149. She says oh this says for something else. And I ask OK well as a customer how am I supposed to know that? It says litter 1149 right under the stack of litter that has always been 1149. So she says mistakes happen and doesn't offer an apology or to do anything about it but instead kind of argues with me and gives me attitude. I inform her that that is just not really good customer service and that as a customer, I am purchasing something that's listed as a certain price and that's what I expect it to be and if there is a mistake I understand that but acknowledge the mistake and don't try and blame me as the customer and that I should just be OK with something being $1.50 more than what it's priced at on the aisle. So I ended up having to pay more for it just so I can get the litter and leave because I have to get back to work. It is really ridiculous How bad customer service is now. ..Especially when things are priced wrong. The economy is bad for everyone and it's just unacceptable to treat customers like crap because you feel like they don't have other options or you don't care about your job or whatever it is. There are other options and I can go to other places. I chose to come to this one because I like going to a smaller store, but I will just go to Petsmart.

They need to recycle their entire staff and management and make a point to diversify, this neighborhood is becoming predominantly colored people, it's not right to have a location like this that promotes racial profiling and such grotesque behavior. ***UPDATE*** I have spoken to Sharon W directly myself and she was completely defensive and biased to the entire situation. So people know, most owners use AI to respond to us, this is just some blanket comment the "owner" left to cover their tracks. She proceeded to look me dead in the eye and lock the doors. I couldn't believe it, we are in the middle of a pandemic with a failing economy. You would think they would be welcoming customers, especially after being without a job during the month long closures. The parking lot is deserted as always, this location was never very popular and on its way to closing it's doors already. Maybe it's time to reevaluate your staff before you are forced to close your doors forever. P.S. I would have been in and out with-in 5 minutes.

So they got a shipment of fish with ich. unfortunately new associate was inexperienced and dumped…read morethe fish with water in tanks. I had purchased a pearl gourami from there. So i didnt catch that it had caught ich. Wiped out some of the weaker small fish and 3 gourami in my tank. I called the location and advise them thet there is ich in their tanks. Managers were aware and they had treated all fish tanks. They also told me they are making sure that all new fish are treated on arrival. Diana told me that they will make things right for me wednesday. I am impressed they owned up to a mistake that was not solely theirs.

IF you know anything about shelters and rescues it is the number of dogs returned ... we got out Ginger (Pumpkin) from them, it really was similar to adopting a child... lol... but in my opinion this is a good thing... they called our refs, they called our vet, they did a home visit, we did a first meet...They do evaluate very carefully... But their dogs come to you totally vetted. Teeth clean, all vacs, spayed, Chipped... I would def adopt from them again... And yes it is a process and yes they are picky but the volunteers have had these dogs for a while and know what those dogs need. Literally Ginger moved in with us and It was so great from day one... we were dedicated to her and continue to be so... I totally recommend this rescue to everyone...
