I should have read reviews prior to using their business. I had a main plumbing line service scheduled for 9 am. 10 am comes and I call them and was told they would look into it and call me back. 10:30 am I call again and was told they forgot and would be on their way next and to wait for a call. I called again at 1 and was told they would call me back. Then I called a dozen times starting at 2 pm with no responses. Run from this business as fast as you can. It sounds like I am not the first to experience it, but they have zero accountability and zero communication. I can't speak to their work, but trust me it's not worth the hassle. Upon a call with the owner I was informed of all sorts of mumble jumble that didn't make any sense. I had to ask for clarity and a clear explanation of what's wrong. The mumble jumble felt like an attempt and opportunity to exaggerate the problem. We nailed it down and said company commenced work. The owner asked for payment and was very demanding. I paid that same day that evening. One week later I still have no receipt. After multiple text messages to owner and no response, a call was made. He gave his word a receipt will be sent. Still nothing. One week has gone by. Services have been performed, payment tendered and no receipt. Still questioning work performed. Yet to receive an itemization and a certificate of completion. Had to call them due to a do it yourself garbage disposal install. Apparently, there is a little part that needs to be removed, and we did not. They came out and were able to fix without any issues. I had an emergency situation - I called and spoke with Joe on a Saturday, he said he could have a team out to my home in 1 1/2 hrs, his team arrived within 1 hr, so I was already impressed... Murphy & Sons hit a home run, Kevin, Kyle nad the rest of the time were very kind, professional, and on it. My ceiling collapsed, water & debris everywhere, it was ugly as you can imagine... Within minutes the leak was pinpointed, I thought I had the military in my house, these guys are/were freaking pros, wow, I am still in shock, as my insurance company " Mercury " left me hanging for 3 days...with nothing done to help mitigate the problem... We have the original bathrooms and plumbing in our house from 1992. Our shower wall/ceiling were beginning to show signs of mold. Our shower tile also had a red algae-like growth appearing, even after bleach cleaning it. We were quite certain we had a shower leak and were dreading what that might entail. Murphy & Sons came out the very next day after we called, thoroughly checked everything out and assured us it was nothing more than moisture build-up and recommended using the exhaust fan more when showering. Do yourself a favor and call someone else. We had a leaky toilet and called Murphy and Sons on a neighbor's recommendation. Joe on the phone was helpful, but he sent Kevin to us (son, nephew perhaps?). First day called 90 minutes past the appointment time and said he was stuck in traffic. We rescheduled. Next day was an hour late. He and another guy replaced 2 toilets and put a fan to dry out our wet area. Said he'd return on Friday to pick up the fan. Never came until a week later when I called him bag. Ugh, felt like I was dealing with an irresponsible teenager and I just hoped he knew what he was doing. Well, 95 days later (warranty is 90 days by the way), my toilet is leaking again. Called Joe's main line twice and left messages, never got a return call. Finally have a new plumber here now and he found the toilet was installed and sealed improperly. I'm extremely frustrated I wasted time and money with this company. Murphy and sons came recommended from our plumber after we had a pinhole leak that did some pretty aggressive damage to our laundry room. They arrived, quickly, worked pretty efficiently and helped us navigate our insurance etc as we've never had to do a claim before. So I've used these guys three or four times in the past and they were fine. But yesterday I called to have them clear my drain and they told me they would be at my place between 9 and 11 today. So 11 comes along and nobody shows up. I called and left messages multiple times and even though their machine says someone will return the call within 10 minutes, that is not true. I finally reached the owner Joe and he said he would find out where the truck was and get back to me. Ha, it's now 4:30 and I'm still waiting to hear back from him. I took off work to get this taken care of and I don't appreciate being stood up. I'm done with this outfit. Never again. They are completely unprofessional and rude. I mean who makes an appointment and then doesn't even have the decency to say they overbooked or whatever. Anyway I found a good reputable plumber so maybe this was a blessing in disguise because everybody knows what kind of a rep plumbers have. Murphy & Sons was called by my tenant to address a leak behind the wall, they responded quickly and repaired the leak. The plumber told me he had to replace several copper lines with PEX, even though only one line was leaking. I'm not a plumber, so I have to take his word for that. The reason for the negative review is the multiple, harassing follow up calls demanding payment by credit card immediately. I asked for an itemized bill to understand the charges. They sent it 3 days later. On the 5th day, I received 7 calls in 10 minutes. On the 6th day, 9 calls in 10 minutes. They came out promptly, appeared professional and without an estimate commenced work. "Without knowing what was there, we cannot tell you what's going on." Opened the wall, found a pin-hole leak in the pipe, no water through drywall, no water under the raised foundation and yet the bill was $3000+...he cut his bill to $2400 cause he knew what insurance would pay. Horrible! Joe is obviously very stressed and over worked. When he was initially contacted, he was very pleasant and the free leak detection was more than appealing! Unfortunately, it was all down hill from there. It took almost a month for the part to be made for the repair... truthfully, the part wasn't even ordered until I followed up with Joe 2 weeks after we heard nothing back from him. He became very rude unprofessional once his ego was hurt (which didn't take much). Joe was in contact with both the owner of the home and myself and the stories always seems to change. After he met with the owner, she was under the impression he was coming back at the end of the week to finish the job. I called to follow up on the date the owner stated and Joe flipped stating he never made such a comment and that the owner of the home did know what she was talking about. After a long discussion and extra effort in calming him down, I explained that I was just calling to find out the figure out a date to set an appointment. He tried to force me to apologize because he felt like I was calling him a liar about an appointment that he made... Weird. We ended that call with the knowledge that a part needed to be ordered and it would take about a week to be made. I tried to touch base with Joe once a week to follow up on the progress and date to schedule an appointment and it was always "next week" or "I'll call you back" those calls never happened. The only time he actually called me back is on the day of the appointment when I called to follow up. On the day of the appointment he didn't know if he was going to make it due to another call and said he was going to "call me back". After expressing to him that he has never once called back and this is now a little concerning, he stated "oh yeah? I never called back?" and hung up. I'll give you one guess what happened next... He called right back, just to prove a point. I had my hopes up and was VERY patient with this whole process but Joe just can't seem to get it together. Maybe because our bill was only $360 and he didn't see it as worth his time? The reason why I think that is even an option is because he stated that himself. "Look, I'm not making much money off of this and I have other things I need to do. I'll call you when I have the part" Which never happened... I have no idea how this guy has an "A" rating but I hope this feedback helps someone in the future. read more

I called Murphy's after I found them on Yelp with a lot of good reviews. Spoke with Troy on the phone and he was busy but fit me in in the late afternoon. I had a sink that had never drained well since I moved in and was sure I couldn't fix it my self. Troy showed up when he said he would and although I'm sure he'd already had a full day he worked on that drain for almost 2 hours. He has a great attitude and doesn't give up. He is the kind of guy you can feel good about coming into your home and does a great job at a reasonable price.
