Called in an order of catfish Togo. Have to say it was wonderful! Loved the fish and fires! The beans were the best I have had in a long time and several of our party said they would love just a large bowl of beans and cornbread. Went to eat lunch here for our anniversary. The waitresses were so nice. The atmosphere was perfect. Just a hometown diner. I ordered the chicken fried steak and my husband had the hamburger steak. We were very impressed. I didn't even have to use a knife to cut mine. There wasn't a lot of breading. It was perfect. I'm looking forward to going back on a Friday night because it's all you can eat catfish. read more

This is a real gem of a small town diner. It was our first visit, but won't be the last. My wife and I had the same thing - steak fajita wrap with hand cut fries. The wrap was bursting with flavor and the fries were great. I'm Irish and and a tough judge of fries, too. Our waitress was friendly and the food came out fast. read more

Came though Archer City looking for another route home. There were numerous cars around this small town cafe. Thought it must be OK so went inside. The place was packed but the nice lady at the door said if I didn't mind sharing a table I could join some others at a table toward the back next to the kitchen. Not only was the food very good (catfish dinner is great) but I don't remember having such a pleasant meal and conversation with "locals" from the Archer City area. On future trips I will go out of the way to try other items on the menu and hope that some of the regulars will join me. We shared contact info and have been exchanging texts about meeting up again. What a great place to stop. Evening dining is only on Fridays, so make your plans for lunch. It won't hurt your wallet either. 5 stars for sure in my book. read more

We stopped in Murn's for lunch and it was Catfish Friday. The most delicious, fresh, crispy catfish with yummy beans and hand cut fries. My husband had the small chicken fried steak and it was wonderful too. The atmosphere was fun and the waitstaff very attentive and friendly. read more

I'll make this short and sweet. Good Texas cafe. If you're in town and hungry I think you'll enjoy Murn's. In all honesty, I found the chicken fried steak unremarkable. That is not to say it was bad - no, average cut with pretty good seasoning. Everything else was cafe good. It is a clean and attractive restaurant and the people were fantastic. Sign said please seat yourself. Sat down and waited 20 minutes without ever being acknowledged meanwhile 4 other tables that came in after me were served. One of the waitresses choose to clean an already clean table over giving me a menu. Awful service, if you're not a local don't bother. read more

Absolutely love Murn's! It's the highlight of my visit every time I come home from Dallas. The El Diablo is quite possibly the best thing ever. Chicken fried steak covered in queso and jalapeños.....it's soooo freaking good. And if I'm lucky enough to be there on a Friday they have amazing catfish. I saw a review that said they don't have fries....maybe they ran out (it's a small town and it's the only sit down restaurant and it's popular....) but I assure you they have fries. I highly highly recommend Murn's if you find yourself in Archer City. You won't be sorry. read more

The best small town cafe around. The fish is always perfectly cooked but they only serve it on Fridays so it makes it a real treat. The burgers are generously portioned and a steal for the price. I've never seen an El Diablo any where else (chicken fried steak with pico, jalapeños, and covered in queso) and it is by far my favorite. we were in town deer hunting stopped for lunch on a saturday. hubby & i both had the chicken fried steak ...was really delicious, it was huge & crust was very crunchy. my husband said gravy was excellent as well (i do not eat gravy) salad was very good too. only negative was that they only had french fries & no mashed potatoes--waitress and hostess were both very friendly as well:) read more

I still have a home in Archer City and go back (from NE) as often as I can. I cannot visit without hitting Murn's at least once, sometimes more! It is, by far the best food in the area.
