---Services were not rendered and I am not in possession of the data you claimed to have extracted. I merely paid the $160 to retrieve my ransomed property.---
The owner of this company, though charming and pleasant to talk to, forced me to pay $160 for services that I did not request. I originally brought a damaged phone to this establishment to inquire about data recovery. After being told that the phone was too damaged to recover the data, I was informed by the owner that the phone could be sent to a facility that could possibly bypass the issue. The owner told me, that for $20 dollars, the phone could be shipped, processed by the third part, and once returned, the data could be recovered.
Unforeseen circumstances got me in contact with a friend who could recover the data for free. Assuming that the owner of Murfreesboro phone repair was a respectable business man, I attempted to retrieve my phone from the store. I was shocked when the owner refused to return my property unless I payed him $160. At no point did I agree for any work to be performed beyond the phone being sent to the 3rd party. The actions of the owner are reprehensible and could be considered extortion.
--Response to owner--
I do not appreciate you threatening me, but please, do post the audio and video. I would greatly appreciate you showing your customers that you forced me to pay for services that I did not request. The "services. . . rendered" was an action taken on behalf of Murfreesboro Phone Repair. At no point did I request this service and your actions in forcing me to pay this sum could be considered extortion. If I remember correctly, I attempted to work out the issue, as an adult, and you were the ones who told me that I would have to call the police or seek legal measures to receive my property.
There are two scenarios: Either Murfreesboro Phone Repair is ignorant and unintentionally misled me, or Murfreesboro Phone Repair willfully misled me into a position where they could hold my property ransom for $160. Your business practices are unacceptable and your attempt at intimidation is wildly inappropriate.
Yes, the phone was dropped off at the beginning of the year, but due to a global pandemic, it has been difficult for everyone to complete tasks in a timely manner.
If you consider a customers property to be "abandoned" then why would you keep the devise?
At no point did I try to "illegibly forge notes". I wrote on the receipt, on the signature line, "This payment represents work that was not authorized to be completed" which it was not. The original agreement between myself and Murfreesboro Phone Repair was to send the phone to a third party with the only goal being to see if the data was recoverable, and the charge for this service was $20 which was paid in full at the time.
Below I have attached an image of the original invoice, in its entirety, minus sensitive personal information.

I payed a ransom to retrieve my property, which you were withholding without reason. At no point did I agree to the service of data recovery. That action was initiated by Murfreesboro Phone Repair. You are responsible for assuming that was a service I wanted performed. You unwavering attitude shows a marked disrespect for you customers.
If Murfreesboro Phone Repair did in fact extract data from my device without my expressed permission, I would consider that a significant invasion of privacy. So, please do delete my private information that you extracted without consent. Again, your business practices are despicable.
