Took a driving test for my license and was automatically failed because I went 6 hours over the speed limit for one second (it was downhill, and the car they had me drive was VERY sensitive. And I drive a sensitive car.) Also I could barely see the mph because of the FUCKING GLARE in that UGLY ASS CAR. Instructor sucked. Wore a cowboy hat and wrap-around sunglasses. I was minused points for not putting the hand brake on when parallel parking, and for when trying to parallel park, I didn't back into the space. HE SAID I WASN'T ALLOWED TO DRIVE FORWARD INTO THE SPACE! ANkD MINUSED POINTS FOR IT. TLDR; Instructor ass and deducted points for the smallest of things. read more

My third teenager just completed drivers ed at Munros' in Anacortes. I would recommend them. Our instructor Staci was great, all of my kids liked her. If you have more than one student they offer a family discount make sure to ask for it. read more

I visited the Oak Harbor branch and decided to take my driving test being that I have been practicing with family members. I took 2 driving test to which I failed I had the most awesome instructor tho Miss Payne but I call her "Barb" so I was bombed after failing twice but she suggested I took a lesson then do a test after...I took 1 lesson with Barb and she was so patient ensured that I understood all the maneuvers and gave me key points on how to be a safe driver I took my test after and passed with a 90 Barb you're the BEST!!!! read more

My son had an appointment for a driver license at the Mount Vernon location of the Munro Driving School. The instructor was curt and unfriendly, to him, certainly not someone who should be interacting with the public. The test ended early and before I had a chance to ask the instructor what our next step was, she ignored my presence and walked past me into the office. As I wanted to know what his options going forward were, I followed her into the small office. She was standing at the counter with the receptionist (who seemed a bit more friendly than her co-worker) so I asked if my son would have to pay an additional $45 to take the test again. She replied rather snottily that Oh Yeah, he would. No smile, no empathy, hostile. That experience was a $45 fee for a 5 minute test, not worth our time, especially given that we invested an entire day getting there (we live on a small island and take a ferry to the mainland for appointments). Bottom line, we won't be going back for another test, and I recommend anyone considering the Mount Vernon office for a drivers test should drive right by. I reviewed your son's skills exam and saw that he made a violation of law at the intersection immediately after the test began--that's why it was only 5 minutes. Our exam policy states that each test is $45, pass or fail. I spoke to the examiner and she said she didn't hear you speaking to her so she didn't intentionally ignore you and she said she certainly didn't mean to come off hostile or unfriendly as she agrees that is unprofessional and not in line with Munros' policy of good customer service. I understand you were frustrated at the time, especially since you live on an island and things are always so much more time-consuming for islanders. I was responding only to the extremely poor customer service we both received from your employee. She was neither professional nor in line with a policy of "good customer service." We absolutely understand that he made a law violation, which made his test only 5 minutes. That was not the issue. However, regarding your employee's conduct, you may be aware that employees will not admit to their boss about being rude to customers, so I am not at all surprised that the examiner said she wasn't intentionally unfriendly and didn't mean to be hostile. Nevertheless, she was both. The final conclusion for us is that while we don't expect to receive special treatment, or be allowed to pass a test even with a law violation, we do expect to be treated politely and civilly. Unfortunately, we were not treated well, and certainly not like valuable customers. The school is operated as if it is the only game in town. it is. The parent night consists of one of the instructors reading prepared slides for forty minutes followed by an unprofessional instructed gulping water between explanations of the cost of rule infractions. Late to class $50.00, failed tests $50.00 In the class our student attended none of the students we knew passed the driving test the first time. It must amount to a number of $50.00 additional fees. Before writing this review, I want to clarify that I will be reviewing the class given at Munros in Oak Harbor and my first drive test with them. The class was wonderful, and the experience there was great. The instructors were very good with how they presented information and taught me, and during our drive practices they were very kind and it was a learning experience for me. I had no problem with the class directly. I did have a problem with the pricing as it was extremely overpriced. There were also 2 moments of miscommunication where I was expecting that I'd be exiting the class with a license, as that is what I was told over the phone when seeking information for the class. I was also told that the 5 drives I was required to take would be complete before the end of the course. That was not the case as I had to take 2 more drives post Munros. My first drive test with Munros was horrid, and sadly I have another one coming in September. I was failed for 4 reasons. For starters, I was told that I cut into another lane while being stationary in a turning lane. I then was told that I was not turning to look behind me when pulling into traffic. Then I was told that I did not come to a complete stop at a red light. And finally, I was told that I was 6 miles over the speed limit. My test lasted 5 minutes, and at the very end of the test, the instructor(who I do remember the first and last name of if anyone is willing to take action and remove her from the staff)then proceeded to tell me what was wrong in such a condescending manner that I felt threatened personally. It felt that she was trying to make me fear taking the test. Now, while I would normally just take everything she said, and be done... I regret to inform you reader that what the instructor had told me was all false. I actually had a small camera on my phone in my car where it could visibly see the front of the car and the speed at which I was driving. I reviewed the footage because I had left it on during my test unintentionally, and wow if I wasn't just some 18 year old who doesn't want to cause trouble, I would have taken the footage to the DoL and sued Munros. I chose not to since the work would be huge and I'm going off to college late September so I'd rather take my test and be done with this half-baked company. On the video that my phone had recorded, I was able to see that I had not cut any lanes, I came to a complete stop at the red light since I have to(not just for the law but just for my own personal safety), I sped up to 32 when merging only to ensure that the cars(which were slowing down so I may merge)would not have to wait for me and thus I was only doing so to maintain speed, and while I was not able to see myself you are able to hear me shuffling around since I am required to do so when turning. This was just simply what ruined the name Munros for me. My experience with this lone instructor was enough to ruin the credit this company has, and I have openly stated to anyone looking for a Drivers' Ed class to not use this company. I have no problem with the class's instructors for teaching Driver's Ed, though I dislike the way the class was run. I absolutely hated the instructor(who was not part of the staff teaching the class)for failing me for reasons that were not only untrue, but also being very insulting and condescending about it. I would not recommend this company to anyone and I hope that their monopoly within the Northwest finds some serious competition, because their absurdly high prices would easily be brought to the ground by a company that was straightforward and honest with their customers - something this company failed to do.
