Unclear that you use a different money slot for the soap located where you pay for the wash but the soap is dispensed in a different machine. Cash only although the site indicated credit cards were accepted. Mostly really hot wash cycles which to an American is not clear so be sure to choose the right temperature. It was another overcast day, so we decided to do a load of laundry, consisting of a 4 pairs of jeans, a bunch of shirts, socks and underwear... Filling up a relatively large reusable bag I had brought from home. We located a city "waschcenter" on Yelp, which was about 2 blocks from our hotel. The facility is open from 7:00 am until midnight everyday, and they offer drop off service if you don't want to wait. In addition, they offer dry cleaning and shirt pressing in 24-hours. Supposedly they have a facility at the Central train center, too. We were there on a Thursday around 11:00 am and there was only 1 other couple there, who were Americans visiting from upstate New York, and they stop here during their annual visit to the city. They walked this rookie though the process and we chatted while waiting for our laundry. We picked a washing machine, loaded the clothes, remembered the machine number and went to the pay kiosk. The regular washing machines were €2,00 to wash (jumbo loading machine €4,00). The kiosk did provide change by pushing the red button on the top. Adjacent to the kiosk was laundry soap that dispense in a cup for €0.50. After paying, we went back to the machine to add soap, and selected the cleaning cycle. After the wash was complete, we used one of the blue containers provided to transfer the wet clothes to the drying room. Just like in the wash cycle, you select a dryer, pay the kiosk for the correct machine, return to the dryer and select the heat cycle. It's €1,00 for 10 minutes and it took 3 cycles to completely dry our clothes. No one likes to do laundry, but I did have a positive experience using this place. Now we have clean clothes for the second part of our trip!

Now if you don't read German this laundromat will be difficult to use. There almost isn't an English word in the place lol. So this is what you do: 1.Pick the washer you want. Load it. And remember the number of your washer! 2.Go to the steel payment machine near the door. Look up your washer number so you know how much it costs. Place those coins in the payment machine. Then press the button that is illuminated green. Your machine is now activated. 3. Put your pre wash in bin #1, soap in bin #2 4. Press "Normalwasche" 5. Press the start button. Update: As with most laundromats in Germany the dryers do not seem to work the first ten minutes. It's like the dryer is not hit at all. The dryers in this laundromat is particularly bad. Expect to pay 3 Euro or more to dry your clothes. The drier follows the same procedure. This laundromat isn't fancy but it gets the job done. I actually had to have a nice elderly lady who spoke no English help me figure all of this out. Danke!

I paid €4 per load (and I had three including the bedding and fabric shower liner from the dorm). They informed me the washing phase would take approximately 45 minutes and that they had a machine for kaffe if I wanted something to drink while I waited. I did see that they had drop off service. I might consider using this next week when I have, perhaps, a day or two where I can wait to pick them up. From what I saw hanging, they seem to do a very good job cleaning and pressing dress shirts and jackets.

When I picked up my suit, I had the opportunity to witness one of the fellows counseling a lady on her best options regarding the very fragile, um, lady-thing, that she wanted to dry clean or otherwise have laundered. These guys are wealthy with knowledge! I'll come here again and again and not think twice about paying them their due worth!
