Dinner at El Farallon - Worth It for the Sunset & Service…read more Reservation & Arrival We booked for 6:15 PM but arrived around 5:30 to catch the sunset. The host seated us in the waiting area first where you can order drinks while watching the ocean. Sunset Views By 5:45 the sun started setting, and the view was absolutely breathtaking. Honestly, this alone makes the place worth visiting at least once. ‍ Food Experience The main course price includes appetizer, soup, and dessert. * Soup was tasty * Bread was fresh and good * Ordered: Bluefin tuna & Red Snapper (both decent, but not mind-blowing) * Dessert: Chocolate mousse (my favorite!) + another dessert my husband ordered The mousse with nuts was especially delicious. Pacing Service is elegant but very slow. They truly take their time -- we were hungry waiting for each course Total dinner lasted about 2.5 hours. ‍ Service Top-tier. Staff constantly checked in and made sure everything was perfect. Price After tax and tip, total came out to a little over $300. Tip Once the sun sets, it gets chilly fast. Bring a light jacket! Overall Food: 4/5 View: 5/5 Service: 5/5 Experience: Worth it just for the scenery and atmosphere. I'd come back again for the sunset alone.

As long as you know what you're getting into and are aware that this place is for the ambiance, location, and service and not the food you'll have a lovely time. I had researched some of the best places to have a sunset seaside dinner when I was in Cabo and chose this one because it seemed to have the upscale, quiet and classy vibe I was looking for. El Farallon is located within the Waldorf Astoria and you will need to have a reservation in order to be let in the gates if you're getting dropped off by an uber or cab. For ladies wearing heels, it is a loooong walk from the main entrance of the resort to the restaurant and an even longer one back after you've eaten so beware. Once you check in they seat you at a champagne bar before taking you to your table and be aware you will feel pressured to get a drink. I knew I wanted champagne in advance so it was no surprise. We had a lovely table right next to the water and when the waves crash and wind hits just right sometimes you may feel a little mist, but the view is lovely. Try to look up what time the sun sets on the day you want to go and book an hour before that so you get the full sunset. The food was usually how it is at these places where you pay for the scenery- very expensive and pretty mid. There is a set menu where you choose your entree and the sides are all the same for everyone or you can add extra. All I remember is the additional oysters we ordered were nice and fresh. The service was very attentive. We got to watch sea turtles being released on the shore below us. Overall, I would come back to bring someone I loved who had never been there for the experience. It's nice if you want an isolated, classy place by the sea in Cabo to enjoy a meal that doesn't have a noisy, crowded, or party vibe but you will pay for that environment. Bill came out to $400+ for 2 after drinks, food, and service charge.

The views are stunning and since we arrived on a cruise ship and were treated to views of our ship from the table. The restaurant is beautiful. Cannot do it justice by trying to describe how beautiful the restaurant and the property as a whole is. Suffice it to say . . . Stunning! Service was impeccable our servers Ohnel and Arturo did not miss a beat. This is definitely a cannot miss destination and will be my definite stop every time I return to Cabo I felt the prices were very fair especially for such a high end restaurant and the food was exceptionally fresh. From the fresh catch of the day to the Shrimp Diabla (Camarones Diabla. The sauce was decadent Now you must try the guac. They prepare it table side and not only is it a site the behold but the flavors are to die for This was my first time in Cabo and certainly will not be my last. Did a lot of research on local high end restaurants (The Office, Sunset Mona Lisa El Farallon) Tried this and one of the others which was great and will review shortly but to be honest. When you factor in location, ambiance food etc. I will have to give this the edge. It really made my trip to Cabo worth it and it is where we settled to dine for my birthday. I simply cannot believe it took me so long to visit Cabo I have done it a disservice as I frequent the Eastern side of Mexico but now I know I have already booked my return trip And to my Mexican Familia at Hacienda Cocina: Gracias por hacer que nuestra visita fuera tan memorable. Todos se esmeraron al maximo oara hacer que la visita fuera fantastica . Nos vemos pronto!

Wow! Wow! Wow! First of all the ambiance is so fun, beautiful views of the beach! The service was quick, the waiters were so funny and nice! Our waiter brought us free chips/dips and smoothies! The street tacos I had were awesome. Keep in mind though it is a little pricey given the convenience factor but we loved it!

While the food and presentation still live up to what I would consider Michelin-quality standards, the service has declined dramatically. We expected a knowledgeable and attentive waiter who could walk us through the menu, but instead, our server simply pointed at items without offering any explanation. That kind of interaction feels unnecessary--I can read the menu myself. The experience became even more frustrating as the meal went on. After placing our order, someone else brought out the food, and our original waiter never returned--not even once--to check on us or see how everything was. For a place where you might spend a couple of hours enjoying a meal, that level of service just isn't acceptable. I had read online that this restaurant was considered Michelin-quality, and in terms of food alone, I can see why. However, with service this inattentive and impersonal, I don't see how they'll come close to earning that kind of recognition. Sadly, after this experience, I don't think I'll be returning.

Prices are comparable to other hotel restaurants, and the service and food quality was OK. We had spent the afternoon at the nearby beach until sunset, so ended up eating dinner a bit later than we got used to during our trip. Estrella has a large dining space, both inside and out. It was a bit humid to enjoy the outside, so chose to sit inside. There weren't many customers, so got identified quickly and seated. It was night, so the only views were of the lighted courtyard. Service was prompt throughout. The mango frozen margarita (MX$360) looked interesting so got one of those, along with a 1 L bottle of Fiji water (MX$170). I know I need to get used to paying for water for dine-in in Mexico, but only having Fiji available in the restaurant seems manipulative. The margarita was excellent. Our server recommended to us to get the special of the night: a three course meal with main entree of a trio of chicken, shrimp, and bacon-wrapped filet medallion (MX$741). I wanted to try seafood, so got the Tuna tower (MX$380). The first course (a really good spinach salad) and the tuna tower came out first. The tower was tasty...the chef had done a really good job of chopping all the ingredients into equal diced pieces; the fresh and delicious avocado put it over the top. The tuna quality was what it is...not great but didn't really mind. The main entree came a bit later, and my wife enjoyed it (we were both really hungry)... I got to sample some pieces. The shrimp was the best part, small size but perfectly grilled with just the right amount of salt to bring out the great shrimp flavor. The chicken was overcooked, resulting it being dry and a bit chewy. The beef was not great: it wasn't filet mignon, but another part of the loin. The bacon was an afterthought and didn't really impart any flavor, with the wooden toothpicks (to hold the bacon in place) still imbedded in the steak, which is just a mistake...a really good steak knife will cut right through it, and then you are eating wooden toothpick pieces imbedded in random steak bites. But the portions were good to be a filling meal, with a good mashed potato as base. We also got a thick chocolate mousse for dessert, which we enjoyed. Guests of the resort get a 'discount' card...ours was 10% off of food (not including alcohol) at resort restaurants. When I let our waiter know before our dessert came, our waiter strongly told me that 'specials' are not part of that, like I should have known that already. When the bill came, he pointedly showed me that he had correctly applied the discount to only tuna tower and water. He was right, but his attitude was wrong. We charged it to our room, gave a minimal tip, and left.
