I am submitting a review regarding my hospitalization at Covington Hospital and ongoing concerns…read moreabout pain management and communication during the sickle cell crisis in which I was admitted for. Dr. David Siebert's made very frustrating and neglectful statements about my medication adherence and his refusal to initiate around-the-clock IV opioid management despite my documented history, I would like to document further inconsistencies and communication failures affecting my care. During my first night at Covington, Dr. Michael Joyce informed my father and me that PCA pumps were not used at this facility and suggested that I would have better luck receiving sickle cell pain management at Fred Hutch. This recommendation was confusing and distressing. I reside in Lakewood, and Fred Hutch is located in Seattle. Additionally, Fred Hutch is a specialty cancer and hematology center and not an emergency hospital capable of managing acute vaso-occlusive crises. The suggestion conveyed a lack of viable local care options and contributed to my distress. Over the course of four days in severe sickle cell pain, I was later told that more effective pain management could have been initiated earlier in my stay, which was extremely frustrating to learn given the severity of my symptoms. Following comments made by Dr. Siebert regarding my pain management plan, I experienced an intense panic attack triggered by distress and perceived lack of appropriate care. A Code Grey was called in response to my emotional distress. Shortly afterward, Dr. Siebert returned and asked whether I had ever been on a PCA pump before. This raised several concerns: * We had previously informed care staff that PCA therapy has historically been the primary method used to control my severe vaso-occlusive crisis pain. * This information is documented in my medical record. * The question suggested that my documented care history may not have been reviewed. * It also appeared to contradict the earlier statement that PCA therapy was not available at this facility. These inconsistencies in communication, lack of continuity, and apparent failure to review documented treatment history have contributed to unmanaged pain, heightened anxiety, and significant emotional distress during an already vulnerable medical crisis. I am requesting review of: * continuity and coordination of communication between providers * review and utilization of documented pain management protocols * clarification of PCA availability and alternative pain control strategies * patient-centered communication practices during high-distress situations * care escalation protocols for patients with severe sickle cell pain My goal is to ensure that care is coordinated, evidence-based, and communicated clearly so that future patients do not experience similar distress during crisis treatment.

I have never…read moreonce complained or requested controlled medications--until this appointment, my very first with Dr. Show (my regular PCP was unavailable). I disclosed a traumatic experience for the first time and, while crying and extremely vulnerable, asked for short-term help with severe anxiety. Dr. Show responded by sighing audibly with an "ugh", as if my distress and request were a burden or annoyance. She shrugged off my concerns, dismissed why my current medication wasn't helping, and then bizarrely pivoted to complaining about how difficult it is to find a psychiatrist for her own daughter--turning my traumatic disclosure into a comment about her personal frustrations. I felt blatantly treated like a drug seeker despite my long, clean history. She offered zero empathy, zero alternatives, and zero support beyond suggesting I "take an extra pill" of the medication I am currently taking (which I'd already said wasn't sufficient). The entire visit left me re-traumatized and far worse than when I arrived. No one from the clinic even bothered to check on me afterward. This was not poor bedside manner--this was a complete failure of compassion and professional boundaries. I have filed formal complaints with MultiCare leadership, the Joint Commission, and the Washington Medical Commission. If you need genuine, trauma-informed care for anxiety or mental health, avoid Dr. Michelle Show at all costs.

I was given a physical, but I did NOT receive a Medicare physical - and I only know this only because when I returned in 2023, the Medicare physical I received was entirely different than the one the year before. Before I went in for the physical in 2023, I asked how long it would take and the receptionist said 30 minutes. This is important to me, as I am a teacher and need to let the school know about coverage. While at the appointment, they told me they needed a urine sample. If I'd known I would not have gone to the bathroom before I left for the appointment. When the Nurse Practitioner Mann came into the room (30 minutes later) and asked about the urine sample - when I explained - she gave me a bottle of water. Why didn't her staff do that? They just kept pointing me to the bathroom and telling me to try. Also - when it was time to be weighed, I walked toward the scale - a medical looking scale - and was told, "No not that one" and they brought out a bathroom scale that was dirty and broken on one side. Whaaaaat? That appointment took an hour and 30 minutes. An hour more than what I was told!! After that hour and a half appt, I received the results of the blood work and needed a follow up appt, but - I also needed another appointment for a follow up on cat bite I'd had treated at Urgent Care. I called to make an appointment and to see if the appointments could be combined. The receptionist said she wasn't sure, but would check. I then asked how long she thought it would take if..... and before I could finish my sentence she said "30 minutes". Ugh. I was really upset and told her to let me talk to someone who knew the answers. Amandeep Mann got on the phone and I told her how I had been misinformed about the approximate length of my last appointment, and that her staff didn't seem to know answers. She said, "We are doing our best here!" And I said, "Well it's not good enough!" and she said, "Well then you can go and find another doctor!" I said, "I will!" - and that was then end of them. If a medical office does not have a staff that makes patients feel cared for, and it cannot provide what it's supposed to during an appointment, and it's a little dirty - I don't want to be there. I have a doctor at UW Valley Med now, and I feel very cared for. I do not recommend Kent Family Practice at all!!!

I was charged over $600 because they sent me to an OUTPATIENT facility to get an ultrasound unaware to me, because WHY WOULD YOUR PCP EVER DO THAT TO YOU!?! My insurance even noted how scammy it was and apologized and opened an internal claim. I would have been charged $0 if they sent me to a normal place like how my other doctors have done for the past 10 years. DO NOT GO THERE. I don't care if you've seen good reviews, as I did have a fine experience with my PCP, but they are a scam company. My insurance even noted that I should be able to negotiate the costs given how they were grossly incompetent. On top of that, the billing department kept saying I need to 'three way' my insurance, but then after spending an hour trying to do that because the billing department kept hanging up, they noted that they couldn't. Colleen, Amy, Christine and more from the billing department, thank you for showing us how much of a scam this hospital is!

I had a horrible fever, cough, and colourful mucus out of nowhere Friday night, and called them first thing on Saturday morning to see if they accepted my insurance. (Really, you should do this before going to any urgent care, because they all seem to accept different plans.) Once I heard they accepted my insurance I went straight over. I arrived Saturday at 9:00 am. There was only one other person in front of me. Filling out new patient forms/waiting to be seen only took about 20 minutes. The girls at the desk were very kind and pleasant. The assistant that took my vitals was also very pleasant and nice. She let me know about the "My Chart" program, but a lot of places now do this. They have contracts with the site to sign people up, so you can just decline if you don't want it. After vitals, my wait time in the checkup room was about 10 minutes. I was seen by Audra Burdulis, a Nurse Practitioner. She was incredibly warm and pleasant to me right out of the gate. I usually feel like an idiot having to go to any urgent care, because I so rarely get sick that I never know what's wrong with me, and feel like the biggest arse spouting out my complaints. She listened very patiently and empathized with me. She looked at my eyes, in my mouth, ears and throat, and felt along my neck and face. She diagnosed me with a severe upper respiratory infection/pre bronchitis. I had to bring up the humiliating fact that I can't swallow pills, and she wasn't put off or annoyed at all. She prescribed me all liquids and sprays, and explained how to use each one and which ones not to take at the same time. She implored me to call back if I had any change of symptoms or if I had any concerns, and they phoned in my prescriptions to the pharmacy I requested before I even left the office. I have a bit of a road to recovery ahead of me, but my experience with this facility was wonderful.
