Jerry was very informative and such a good guy. I remember he needed some wood for our cabinets, he took the time to explain why and presented options pertaining to cost. The prices were very high at the time, but we needed the wood to finish the job so we had given our approval. When the job was completed and we received the invoice there we no extra charges, in fact the cost was less than originally agreed. When we asked Jerry why, he told us that he was able to pick up the wood and some materials at a second hand supply store, which enabled him to forward the savings to us. Here is a gentleman that very easily could have told us he paid full advertised prices for everything and we would be none the wiser. Jerry's reply to us was, "if I did that, I would be only contributing to a lie that ultimately hurts the community I live and work in, I am sorry, but that is something I can not do". Free estimate and closet drawings were great. Said we didn't want to go over 1K on the budget they…read moresaid no problem. Estimated $720. We decide to proceed. After the first invoice was sent, it is stated price of materials can change after final design was approved, final design was sent and no change in price. My partner and I had very high hopes in supporting this small business. Fast forward to day of; They were supposed to start at 10am, instead texted at 10am saying they had to get materials and gas, didn't arrive until 11. My partner went out and picked up lunch for all 3 shortly after they had just started (we asked them to let us know when they would be ready for lunch). One employee showed up, ate and literally left. Did no work. We all had plans so handywomen left at 5pm. We get an invoice for $905 and they still had to come back a second day to finish, which would go over budget. Not once from when the design plan was solidified to even when materials were purchased day of had anyone stated the price would change. So obviously my partner and I asked about the price change and both owners of Handywomen became extremely defensive and never explained why it changed. They only said to look at the invoices and contract which still was not totally clear as they never had us sign their contract or go over any update invoices. We were charged for 6 hours, but they worked 5 and still included the hour lunch in their work day. There's no attention to detail. Or attention at all really. Things were broken and done with such lackluster I'm still in shock. (See photos for reference.) Maybe they are great for small projects but this was probably more than they could chew. I wish them luck in this. The best part about this team is their helpers Corbett. A very sweet man and the main reason we paid for such unsatisfactory work.
